This would most likely break out into a much larger conflict between the China Sphere and NATO, as you forget that the second North Korea was attacked by NATO, regardless of whether or not China aided them, they would certainly attack Taiwan.
That would be a horrible idea, because by the time that happens, there would be quite a large number of NATO forces nearby due to the Korean War, its basically just the worst time to do it especially since North Korea certainly won't even hold out that long.

I don't actually think japanese forces would join in, since their military is not really a military, they call them the self defense forces. the allies won't let japan have an army because of the treaty from ww2. instead, japan will be a forwarding base to korea. They will in time but not through war. Peace talks and they may likely to eventfully sign peace treaty. All thanks to the Winter Olympic earlier this year.
Why this won't happen 1. Japan will never join the war due to anti-Japanese sentiment in Korea. Koreans would think: Japanese troop entering the peninsula=Japanese occupation again, which is trauma to Koreans. 2. China will not join the war if North Korea attack South Korea first. They will just make agreements with Korea so that Korean troops do not cross the North Korea-China border and the US army doesn't participate in the war. Unlike in 1950, today, China should be aware of international relationships. 3. Seoul won't be nuked. North Korea isn't crazy enough to use nuke in Korean peninsula. To use nuke and just having nuke is a different problem. North Korea's nukes are just for propaganda and a card to make the US come out to the table and negotiate with North Korea.
