DRPK liberated Korea. US Imperialists as always decided to start a bloodbath and a nuke war. Happily, the mighty and wise USSR leadership allowed for peace.

same here I had no idea it was this big. I wish it would get more notoriety, the UN saving south Korea is a huge deal.

My grandfather served in the Korean war when he was only 17 and received two purple hearts as well as a silver star. Unfortunately, he didn't have the best relationship with my father, so I didn't see him that often and never got to ask about his experiences before his passing. RIP Grandpa.

My great uncle fought there too. I was passed his name as my middle name. I never knew him. But he was a remarkable man my father tells me. The Korean War is a war often over shadowed that needs more attention. It was the closest point in history I think we ever got to that almost escalated into WW3 imo.
I’m glad to see someone is finally admitting the US already lost a war to China. And technically, the war ended in armistice… which is a ceasefire. So technically the war is sort of unresolved and could be considered just ‘inactive’.
Thank you for serving our country

Great video clip! Especially with speeches from the heads of state involved
My grandfather severed in Korea at the battle of The Chosin Resivour. He fired rifle so continously that he received 3rd degree burns on his right hand near the trigger and second degree on his left hand. The Korean peninsular is mostly mountains, so there is almost no extra space for strategic maneuvers. This results in extremely intense close combat in division size, making thousands of casualties just for advancing a few miles. This is why most casualties are caused after the front line got stuck around 38 parallel, not during blitzkrieg all the way up and down at the early war.
in the latter part of the Korean War, the war pattern becomes similar to that of World War I in Europe.

@@annyeongjadooya In Vietnam, history is written by the victor, that is the current Communist regime of Vietnam. In the minds of the Vietnamese , up to 3/4 of the population do not have the same thoughts as the authorities. They only considered the previous Vietnam War as a civil war, the end result of which was a victory on the Communist side, like the inter-Korean war.
Only the state-led media slander the crimes of former South Korean soldiers and uphold North Korea. Most of those who cursed at Korea were brainwashed by the Communist media, coming from poor rural areas in the North, who went to export labor to Korea and evaded their visas. Most of them come from the provinces of North Vietnam.
Moreover, the former South Vietnamese government was also allied with south Korea, helping the people of South Vietnam fight against the communist !
@@TheHipjaejin9391Oh, I see. Same thing will be true for North Korea. The only difference is that Vietnamese leaders are not like Kim Jeong Un, and that's why Vietnamese people are in a lot better condition than North Koreans.
@@Dorothea_Kipinski after Vietnam united in 1975, we had to face the truth of economy’s crisis cause by mistaken of planned economy in 10 years, that never happened before.
Moreover, the hostility from China, the sanctions from the United States and most importantly is the weakening of the Soviet Union make a great economic depression in Vietnam. These leaded to the potential risk of second civil war between North and South.
As a result, Hanoi’s leaders had to open Vietnam to welcome the rest of the world, to save their regime !
The casualties on both sides is mind blowing.

As stalin said "One death is a tradgedy, a million deaths is a statistic"
Sir, your work is fantastic and is an inspiration for me, please continue!
This was by far your best video! 👍 I find it interesting that both sides finished where they began; so basically 2.5 million souls lost their lives for nothing. This reminds me of the scene at the end of “War Games” with Matthew Broderick, we’re the computer did a nuclear war simulation and at the end of it, it concluded that in war no one wins… so why fight at all “Shall we Play a game?”
It's not 'for nothing'. Also, casualties do not mean deaths. A great many of these people who were killed/injured were those defending South Korea from being taken over by the brutal and totalitarian communist North Korea. You only need to look at North and South Korea today to see whether the people who died defending S Korea did so 'for no reason'. It would be better to phrase this as "North Korea started a war for no good reason and with only suffering and pain to show for it".
@maynardburger You have a few misconceptions there.
1) South Korea attacked first. Their plan was terrible (they were greatly outnumbered for one thing) and the North saw it coming. The "unprovoked" North Korean "invasion" was a counterattack.
2) The South Korean government was a dictatorship more brutal than North Korea until the 1980s. Syngman Rhee (who lead South Korea during the war) spent more time executing political prisoners than he did fighting the North. We're talking 100s of thousands of executions. He was so awful that entire South Korean units would just defect to the North. He also killed every pro-democracy activist he could get his hands on, North and South.
3) The current economic disparity between the North and South is a recent development. After the war North Korea recovered much quicker and outpaced South Korea greatly. The only reason South Korean surpassed them was the US pumped billions into the South's economy.
Ummm sweetie, communists lack souls

The war had far more incommon with WW1 than it did the recently finished WW2. After the large movement phases earlier in the war by both sides it then became bogged down in trenches, patrolling, night raids, artillery and frontal assaults on narrow frontages usually up hills and spurs. Night time was fighting patrols in No Mans Land between opposing lines, dodging minefields and trying to snatch prisoners for intelligence.
A very brutal and forgotten war by many.
The last two thirds of the war was like World War I but more mountainous.

"...flank maneuver was golden":
Midas touch by McActhur?
I always think his strategic brilliance was much better demonstrated @ the Korean war than in WWII mainly due to the surprising flank landing plan from the sea @ Incheon.
To be fair, no other nation(including USSR and PRChina, let alone N.Korea) possessed the combat logistical capabilities to pull off an amphibious op in such a scale during that era.....most likely still the case today.
@@felixli5279well, today it is much easier to detect, which makes landing operations almost suicidal.
@@heyhoe168 Depending on:
1) if such 'detection' assets today are wiped out or not by long range weapon systems in advance of the landing ops itself - I.e. typical NATO-style strike sequence.
2) A significant % of a U.S. 'landing force' today will be delivered 3dimensionally /airlifted from the sea. Shooting at slow landing crafts in the water is much much easier than at fast-moving choppers/tilt rotor aircrafts when SEAD(Suppression of Enemy Air Defense) ops is done in advance properly from the air.
@@felixli5279 Yeah, but no one else really has such a capability to the same level as us.
I mean we have entire Amphib assault groups that are centered around a "carrier" the size of most nation's main carrier.
Even the modern Chinese, who technically have more ships than us (if you count small coastal patrol vessels with little to no armament) cannot pull of an Amphib invasion.
That strategy also was used by the North in the American Civil War
My Grandpa fought in Korea, he died when I was younger so I never really talked to him about it. He was on the front lines for a bit. The one story I heard was that they were defending an ammo depot, and they had to blow it and evac in helicopters. Your stupidity. It shocked me.
War on the Korean Peninsula. Mainly the Soviet Union and the United States competed for spheres of influence. Split a nation into 2. . Later, North Korea hoped to seek reunification. The Unification War was launched with the tacit approval of the Soviet Union. Then the Americans intervened. formed the current situation. North Korea remains divided. and are hostile to each other.
And China has only one request. North Korea must exist. North Korea cannot be controlled by the United States. and garrisoned troops.
North Korea is China's buffer zone. Did South Korea belong to the Soviet Union or the United States? China doesn't care.
The division of the Korean nation. It is also in line with China's interests. A mouse and 2 bugs. Of course China chooses 2 bugs. .

One of the reason how South Korea and its allies were able to strike back towards Seoul (The capital) was because of the plan by the United State's General Douglas MacArthur to executive Incheon landing. The Chinese have preserved the last glory of the Korean nation, and the Koreans have proved that their nation does not need to be a puppet and colony of others, while the South Koreans, on the contrary. Consider that the founders of South Korea were the people who knelt down to the Japanese Empire during World War II, which is understandable. This time they changed the host from Japanese to American, and the Japanese themselves changed to American. Strictly speaking, the South Koreans are on an equal footing with their former masters, the Japanese, and have made great progress.
