    The Korean peninsular is mostly mountains, so there is almost no extra space for strategic maneuvers. This results in extremely intense close combat in division size, making thousands of casualties just for advancing a few miles. This is why most casualties are caused after the front line got stuck around 38 parallel, not during blitzkrieg all the way up and down at the early war.

In the minds of the Vietnamese , up to 3/4 of the population do not have the same thoughts as the authorities. They only considered the previous Vietnam War as a civil war, the end result of which was a victory on the Communist side, like the inter-Korean war.
      Only the state-led media slander the crimes of former South Korean soldiers and uphold North Korea. Most of those who cursed at Korea were brainwashed by the Communist media, coming from poor rural areas in the North, who went to export labor to Korea and evaded their visas. Most of them come from the provinces of North Vietnam.

This reminds me of the scene at the end of “War Games” with Matthew Broderick, we’re the computer did a nuclear war simulation and at the end of it, it concluded that in war no one wins… so why fight at all “Shall we Play a game?”

    • @maynardburger
      @maynardburger 3 місяці тому +7

      It's not 'for nothing'. Also, casualties do not mean deaths. A great many of these people who were killed/injured were those defending South Korea from being taken over by the brutal and totalitarian communist North Korea. You only need to look at North and South Korea today to see whether the people who died defending S Korea did so 'for no reason'. It would be better to phrase this as "North Korea started a war for no good reason and with only suffering and pain to show for it".

    • @Some_Average_Joe
      @Some_Average_Joe 2 місяці тому +3

      @maynardburger You have a few misconceptions there.
      1) South Korea attacked first. Their plan was terrible (they were greatly outnumbered for one thing) and the North saw it coming. The "unprovoked" North Korean "invasion" was a counterattack.
      2) The South Korean government was a dictatorship more brutal than North Korea until the 1980s. Syngman Rhee (who lead South Korea during the war) spent more time executing political prisoners than he did fighting the North. We're talking 100s of thousands of executions. He was so awful that entire South Korean units would just defect to the North. He also killed every pro-democracy activist he could get his hands on, North and South.
      3) The current economic disparity between the North and South is a recent development. After the war North Korea recovered much quicker and outpaced South Korea greatly. The only reason South Korean surpassed them was the US pumped billions into the South's economy.

      我的爷爷是中国人民志愿军39军343团的士兵,团长叫王扶之继任者耍金川,当年外号叫耍金圈。当年联合国军在中国入朝前,大规模轰炸中东北等地,炸死很多小孩妇女老人。最后我爷爷是第一批入朝。我听过很多次战役。最早是云川战役,对面是美军号称的王牌建国功勋师美国骑兵第一师,第五团。山高林密,115师343团打穿插龙头里。分割包围美国第8团,美军大部队发现第八团要被全歼,就派第五团在几十架飞机轰炸下,海扔凝固汽油弹,向北打。正好遇到了打穿插的负责包饺子口的343团头上。美骑一师第五团被我们打死了400多人团长重伤然后崩溃扭头就跑。然后我爷爷他们回头漫山遍野的抓俘虏,美军一旦被断后路就崩溃了。顾头不顾腚,爷爷原话,往树洞里钻,留出大屁股在外面。最后俘虏了美国第八团团部还有一个营的官兵。爷爷所在的连队就抓了几十个美军。那时候美军都很害怕,美军当时内部都谣言说中国军队抓住他们割耳朵都很害怕。美军内部宣传的。事实上志愿军热菜都吃不上都吃,炒干面粉加盐和生土豆。给美国人吃热饭菜和馒头,但是美国人认为吃的太差了,虐待他们。其实美军俘虏吃的比师长还好,当时就是那个条件。师长都吃炒黄豆和炖大白菜。后来之后的战役太多了,就说有一次特别惨,阵地就剩下几个人了,子弹都没了,爷爷趁着夜色一个人进入美军死人堆摸武器弹药,发现了一个美军排在半山腰开会,被我爷爷用摸到的反坦克地雷,扔到脚底下,全给炸碎了。我爷爷至今都忘不了,说肠子,肚子都挂的到处都是。志愿军阵地上被炸的就剩下不到10人,这些美军上来肯定不好守住,不是你死就是我亡,然后整晚美军都没有组织起来人员进攻。第二天换防了,爷爷才活下来。还有下个跟韩军第一师打,当时称为伪李承晚集团第一师,伪一师。美国人逃跑,因为第八团被歼灭大部分包括团部,美军就撒丫子跑路了。联合国军就派韩国人替美国人挨刀子,把伪军(韩国人 )顶过来。这帮韩国人号称王牌,不明不白死了很多人,还好有部分被俘虏,其他人跑的比美国汽车都快。好像就是韩国吹得很厉害的叫白善烨,二战期间是伪满洲国的警察好像。我们这边是军长39军军长吴信泉,343团团长当时是王扶之。这场战役后来美军就派韩国第一师15团上来替美军送死。但是白善烨跑的飞起。美军事后第八团第三营被全歼番号被取消1800多人被击毙俘虏。我爷爷说个细节就是美国有个俘虏给我爷爷一块巧克力,爷爷不认识,吃一口吐了,苦了吧唧的,让后爷爷送给那个美国人一口炒黄豆,也给他吃吐了。😂😂

    • @user-xl6fy3wg5p

      맥아더의 인천상륙작전의 원래 목표는 적의 후방을 타격해 남한내에 남아있던 북한군을 포위섬멸시키는 것이였음. 하지만 강원도까지 빠르게 밀고가지 못했고 결국 북한군 상당수는 강원도로 철수하면서 지리산에서 게릴라 활동을 하며 국군을 피곤하게 만듦. 인천상륙작전 덕분에 북진한거다! 라고 말하는 사람도 있는데 상륙당시 숫자를 보면 알겠지만 이미 북한은 장기간 소모전으로 사상자가 너무 많이나와서 제대로 전투를 하기도 힘들지경에 이르렀음. 만약 맥아더가 인천이 아니라 부산에 상륙했어도 똑같이 북진할 수 있었음. 대신에 인천보다 리스크는 좀 더 적었겠지.

    • @user-xl6fy3wg5p
      @user-xl6fy3wg5p Місяць тому +4

      사실상 인천상륙작전은 적에게 타격을 주는데는 성공했지만 원래 목표인 포위섬멸은 실패했고, 성공한 작전이 아님. 맥아더가 유능한 장군이 아님을 증명하는 큰 실수가 있는데 그중 중공군이 개입하지 않는다 확신한것이였음. 결국 중공군이 개입했고 이를 대비하지 못한 국군은 서울근처까지 밀리게 되었음. 맥아더는 이 실수를 만회하려 원폭을 쓰려고 주장했다가 결국 잘리게 되었지. 맥아더가 한 말이 있음. "전투에 실패한 지휘관은 용서할 수 있어도, 경계에 실패한 지휘관은 용서할 수 없다." 사실 이말은 부하에게 할 말이 아니라 오만한 자신에게 더 필요한 말이였을거임.

Consider that the founders of South Korea were the people who knelt down to the Japanese Empire during World War II, which is understandable. Strictly speaking, the South Koreans are on an equal footing with their former masters, the Japanese, and have made great progress.
