Losing South Korea sucks, but wow, I hadn't thought about how these butterflies would then spare Cambodia the pains of such a bloodthirsty regime. And a continued pro-American capitalist presence in the Indochina region with South Vietnam would also perhaps complicate China's present-day efforts to dominate the South China Sea. This is surprisingly not a total disaster scenario for the USA.

Yeah crazy to think that in this world Korea and Vietnam essentially switched places. Preventing the Khmer Rouge gaining power is a massive positive, those guys were so extreme that in the end North Vietnam (after it reunifed the country) had to march in and get rid of them in our world.

@@patrioticbritishmapper8352 The year is 1930. A great economic crisis is spreading across Europe at the speed of a forest fire, and the popularity of radical parties, including fascist and communist ones, is growing in all European countries. Alexander I Karađorđević had already renamed the then Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and an absolutist monarchy was established in the country. His main goal was to reunify the then fractious nations within Yugoslavia and prevent potential assassinations led by both fascists and communists. Of course, it was also necessary to bring inflation under control and get the country back on its feet economically.
In this alternative history, the king decides on more radical solutions, so that the nationalists, especially the Croatian and Macedonian ones, do not represent such a big obstacle in the reconstruction of the then economically and socially unstable monarchy. In 1933, the king decides to sell Kosovo to Albania and Macedonia to Bulgaria, for three pragmatic reasons:
First: get money for the sold territory to rebuild the economy and tame inflation. For the economically weak Albania and Bulgaria, the gain of territory will also represent economic and especially moral recovery (Bulgarian and Albanian nationalists will be satisfied and will not favor a hostile policy towards Yugoslavia in the future.)
Second: get rid of the most nationalist nations that would pose a mortal threat to King Alexander I in the future (he was shot by a Macedonian pro-Bulgarian terrorist in France in 1934.) This will not happen in this alternate history.
Third: without Albanian and Macedonian opposition, it will be easier to keep both Slovenian and Croatian nationalists and Serbian communists at bay.
In 1934, the king decided to strengthen relations with France, especially with French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou. Fortunately, neither the king nor the French Foreign Minister are killed this time, and in the same year an alliance treaty is concluded in which France undertakes to help Yugoslavia militarily in the event of an attack by the Kingdom of Italy. Thanks to the fact that Louis Barthou was not killed, France rejects the British policy of Appeasement.
In 1935, Czechoslovak President Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, French Foreign Minister Louis Barthou and King Alexander I Karađorđević conclude an alliance treaty in Belgrade. In the event of an attack on Czechoslovakia by Germany, both France and Yugoslavia are obliged to provide military assistance.
In 1936, Hitler is about to remilitarize the Rhineland. France, fearing communist opposition, decides to tolerate Hitler's act this time as well. However, the new French Prime Minister, Léon Blum, warns Germany not to attempt further violations of the Treaty of Versailles.
In 1937, the Little Entente (alliance between Czechoslovakia, Romania and Yugoslavia) was definitively reorganized. All these countries undertake to help each other in the event of an attack by Germany, Hungary, the Kingdom of Italy, or the Soviet Union.
The new Czechoslovak president Edvard Beneš will not decide to get closer to the Soviet Union this time. He does everything to have the best possible relations with all the states of the Little Entente. At the end of 1937, Poland also joined the Little Entente, after Czechoslovak President Edvard Beneš decided, following the example of Yugoslavia, to sell the Polish-inhabited Zaolzie to Poland.
In 1938, Hitler, Mussolini and Horthy began to find themselves in absolute isolation. They decide to avoid this by occupying Austria by Germany in March of the same year. In May, Czechoslovakia reacted to this with early mobilization. In the summer, Yugoslavia, which already bordered Germany, will do so.
In September, Hitler demands to join the German-inhabited Czech borderland (Sudetenland) to the Reich. Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia responded to this with partial mobilization. So far, Romania and France are only opting for early mobilization. Poland decides to concentrate most of the army near the border with the Soviet Union.
At the end of September, Hitler, Mussolini, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and French President Édouard Daladier meet in Munich.
At the same time in this timeline, Hungarian regent Miklós Horthy, Czechoslovak president Edvard Beneš, Romanian king Carol II and Yugoslav king Alexander I Karađorđević meet in Budapest.
While in Munich, despite the long-term rejection of Appeasement policy in France, everyone decided to recommend Czechoslovakia to give up the Sudetenland, in Budapest, Miklós Horthy decided to join the Little Entente for the claim to Austria.
On October 1, the Czechoslovak, Hungarian, and Yugoslav armies enter eastern Austria without declaring war, and Vienna is occupied by noon. Germans, Italians, but also the French are shocked by this act. By the end of the same day, northern, northeastern, eastern and southeastern Austria, is in the hands of the Little Entente.
On October 2, Hitler, in desperation, decided to send the entire Luftwaffe over Czechoslovakia and begin intensive bombing of all large Czech cities, including Prague. Due to the bad weather and thanks to the intervention of the Hungarian, Romanian and Yugoslav air forces, all German bombers are destroyed and the German fighters that were not shot down return to the German airfields.
Thanks to this tactical error, by the end of the first week of this anti-German intervention, the Czechoslovak, Hungarian and Yugoslav armies managed to occupy half of Austria, except for the mountainous Tyrol.
On October 8, the Wehrmacht begins to rebel against Hitler. Within a single week, the Germans managed to occupy only northern Bohemia north of the Elbe river, while half of Austria was occupied by Little Entente troops. On the same day, France announces partial mobilization.
On October 9, Hitler and Heydrich are shot dead in the German Chancellery building. Heinrich Himmler and Hermann Göring try to maintain order in the country, but in vain. France threatens both Nazi leaders with immediate intervention. Meanwhile, Mussolini decides to occupy the mountainous Austrian Tyrol with the Italian army. He is convinced that Germany has definitively lost.
On October 10, both Nazi leaders commit suicide. Erwin Rommel subsequently carries out a coup d'état and declares a military junta in the territories of Germany.
On October 11, an order is issued for the German army to withdraw from the northwestern parts of Czechoslovakia. Meanwhile, the Austrian Tyrol is under the full control of the Italian army.
On October 12, peace is definitively concluded between the German junta and the Little Entente countries.
On October 13, a conference is convened in Vienna, attended by Czechoslovak President Edvard Beneš, Hungarian Regent Miklós Horthy, Romanian King Carol II, Yugoslav King Alexander I Karađorđević, Italian Duce Mussolini, French Prime Minister Léon Blum and the leader of the German junta Erwin Rommel.
Austria will be divided into four occupation zones. The so-called Tyrolean zone, centered in Innsbruck, will be controlled by the Kingdom of Italy. The so-called Linz zone formed by the northern part of Austria north of the Danube river will be controlled by Czechoslovakia. The so-called Vienna zone formed by the eastern part of Austria will be controlled by Hungary. And finally, the so-called Carinthian zone with the center in Graz will be controlled by Yugoslavia.
The center of Austria, centered in Salzburg, is to be a demilitarized zone with a provisional government.
As for Germany, it is again condemned to demilitarize the Rhineland, but this time also Bavaria. In Berlin, a provisional government formed by communists, democrats and monarchists is formed. Erwin Rommel remains the leader of Germany.
This time, Germany is not forced to pay war reparations. To the surprise of all European states, industrial Czechoslovakia decides to resurrect economically and morally dead Germany.
On November 1 of the same year, a military union formed by the Little Entente countries, Italy, France and post-war Germany is established. The goal of this organization is to protect Germany from the communist revolution, but also from the Soviet Union itself. As for Spain, there is still a civil war going on there.
Unfortunately, the countries of the newly established TEA alliance (Trans European Alliance) do not have a unified idea of the fate of this state. Italy and Hungary want General Franco to win the war, while France and Czechoslovakia sympathize with the Spanish Republicans.
In the end, the TEA members decide not to intervene and wait for the eventual winner - which happens to be General Franco on April 1, 1939.
France, which has become the leader of the TEA, offers Nationalist Spain entry into the alliance under the condition of compliance with the Geneva Conventions. General
Franco accepts the condition and joins the TEA on May 1. A month later, neighboring Portugal will do the same.
In the summer, Mussolini offers King Alexander I Karađorđević the partition of the Kingdom of Albania. According to the offer, Yugoslavia can get Kosovo back, while Albania itself will fall to Italy as a puppet state. The Yugoslav king and other members of the TEA agree only on the condition that the rest of the Balkans, consisting of Greece and Bulgaria, remains independent.
After the invasion of Finland by the Soviet Union in the winter of that year, Lithuanians, Latvians and Estonians decide to join the TEA.
Unfortunately the military union itself does not want to go to war with the Soviet Union. Fortunately, the Finns resist the attacks this time as well, and the Soviets annex only 10% of Finnish territory. In the spring of 1940, peace was concluded between the two countries.

And Vietnam's strategic location and will to unify is different from Korea anyways. If Korea can unify, then so can we. Also, the people were pretty tired of the last time we were divided (175 years from 1627-1802) and foreign intervention anyways.
