Thank you so much for the wonderful and motivating comment!! I'm glad you appreciate the videos and I am trying to get back on my release scheduel with some pretty indepth and interesting videos in the works!
What are your thoughts on the macro 2:1? There is the notion that it doesn't deliver perfectly as a macro lens, should be 1:1, yet I saw great photos on Flickr?! Great review, 🙏
Thank you very much! Really? I wonder if it's a generation difference or something wrong with mine? When collapsed I can spin it freely in either direction 360°. My other collapsible lenses either have a lock or there's more friction and they don't move as much during transport.
@@TheWholePicture i would have it checked by Leica. eventhough it may not be an issue for you today, better to make sure your lenses are in tiptop shape to be always reliable in use.
Hello and thank you for the question! It should be possible with the m240 onwards thanks to live view and a macro adapter for this lens. I haven't tested it out myself but the idea is similar to what you would do with a mirrorless camera.
Hello and thank you very much for the comment! I don't have personal experience using the 90mm macro elmar on an M10 no less the monochrome, but I can see it rendering very nice images on that sensor! It is definitely lighter and easier to use than the 90mm summicron. If you feel f/4 is too limiting for your work the smaller/older version of the Tele-Elmarit 90mm f/2.8 could be a great option! I hope that helps, please feel free to ask any other questions you might have!
Nice review. I had this lens on my mind, but bought the Summarit 2.5/90 instead. It's small and lightweight, too, and has the same filter size as my LUX 50 and Elmar-M 3.8/24. Keep on rolling.
Hello and thank you for the comment and compliment! I may not have mentioned it in this review, but I did on my 90 APO review, the filter size can be a big factor for some with multiple lenses. For me I use rangefinder lenses with 39mm lenses so it works for me. Ill have more Leica videos out soon!
Thanks I had my eye on that for quite a while and just recently smashed my elmarit I might give it a go since I prefer 39mm filter over all the other options
Thank you very much for the comment! Sorry to hear about your elmarit... I havent had any experience with them but they look like a great balance between price, performance and size. The Macro Elmar can often be found for a reasonable price though, and if you dont need faster apertures it is a great solution! Very sharp but compact and light weight. I just took out the apo 90 the other day and while it renders beautiful images, I often prefer the Macro Elmar for my style and use case.
This is one of the lenses I will be bringing to my upcoming trip to Antarctica. I do not want to carry those heavy ones in the snow, so contrary to the general wisdom, I go with my M and not my SL.
Thank you for the comment! I know some people who have gone to Antarctica and they all had a great time! I think this is a fantastic lens for something like that, fits in a pocket easily and with most subjects probably being farther away and base f/4 focus is less critical. Paired with a 28mm or something wider I think you'll have a fantastic minimalist kit. Best of luck with Drakes passage!
That's right. But unfortunately, the lens hood cannot be reversed put on the v2 lens. This means, you need extra space for transporting the lens hood and it cannot be used for protecting the lens anymore. So I prefer the v1.
Yeah... I was lucky to pick this up a few years ago for a great price but they seem to have gone up a bit. I wish I got a silver one when it was more reasonable too haha
@@TheWholePicture Having the black 90/4, since they are so valuable now, upgrading to the silver one should not be such a big investment... acquiring a 90/4 from scratch is damn expensive though 😂
I just bought one of these new. Three thousand pounds for a lens that doesnt even include an instruction book. I also own the Zeiss 85zm which I think is better.
I haven't tried the 90mm Macro-Elmar-M on a high resolution body but I'm sure it can resolve very sharp images at high megapixels! Even though this lens isn't one of leicas ASPH or APO lenses I'd say it is not far off as far as image quality goes!
Thank you for the comment! For rangefinders you do get the macro attachment with goggles and even some viewfinder attachments to help, i just would prefer a different camera system when it comes to proper macro photography.
Buddy, I’ll listen to every review you do. Straight to the point, specific points and crystal clear.🤙🏻

Good perspective. I have one and it locks when collapsed. Just turn the same way you lock when in use.

Hey,
Is it possible to scan negative film with the macro 90 on Leica digital body?

Thanks....would you recommend for a M10 Monochrome for portraits? The weight savings seems tremendous. Don't need it for macro...

There are 2 versions of this lens - the newer one locks in the closed position.
Thank you for the clarification! I did not find too much info on that while planning the video.

These are still sooo expensive even for the lens without adapter😢

Nappy in FACE?
90 mm is tele ? More like portrait
Modern leica lens are better specially for high res sensors such as the Leica M11
