    This just appeared in my feed of recommended videos; glad to see it! Liked and subscribed! It is good to hear that you like using the ELPRO on your APO 75 Summicron ASPH. An ELPRO is now on my short list. The APO 75 ‘Cron aleady has a quite good Maximum Magnification spec at its MFD of 0.7m, so, an ELPRO could make it my true close-range M-mount king. I also agree with you,, regarding 35mm f/1.4 lenses. Thanks for creating and posting this!

    Do you use sticky labels to keep track of your SD cards?
    I was thinking of getting a small pair of Leica binoculars to complement my Noctivid 10x42s. I have a tiny Nikon portable binocular, but the optics are not very good (they didn’t cost much, so no surprise there). What do you think about the small Leica Ultravids?

  • @kevinfickling6384

    I have way too much stuff but the M10 and M10 Monochrom are my current favorites. If I had to only keep one lens it would be the 50 Noctilux although the APO 50 is really amazing on the newer high resolution M bodies. I make all my own straps and bags and love leather working. It's great to be able to make a bag exactly to fit my needs. You mentioned adding a 50 to your kit. I have found that 35-50 or 50-75 is not a big enough jump in focal length to carry side by side. Im usually skipping one focal length in my bag. 35-75, 28-50 etc although I do own at least one lens from 24-75 mm in length. I just don't like carrying them on the same shoot. I find myself fumbling with what lens to use because they are so close in focal.

    • @AskMOTT
      @AskMOTT  3 роки тому

      Kevin Fickling Awesome set-up Kevin, I bet that 50 Noct is unreal on the new M10-R. I’m definitely tempted to sell the 75mm and go with a 50 .1.4 as I just miss that focal length and for me it’s different enough compared to the 35.

      Hatef Yamini I agree! I have been moving from nikon FF to fuji, and since a couple of months the M system has grabbed my attention and dreams. The kit is powerful and tiny compared to e.g. Nikon equivalents. But I fear that my eyesight and auto focus skills would let me down big time. Sticking to my fuji x-pro and lovely primes for the moment.

    Justin, you have a lot of the same "quirks" I do. I have an M10-P that I absolutely love. I have begun building a lens setup that at present consists of the 28, 50 and 90. Next will be the SEM - I love ultrawides though they are less straightforward to use on an M. Given the prices of the lenses, I am tempted to put UV filters on all of them. Do you use "protective" filters?

      Are you me?
      I rebuilding a Leica kit, after selling ALL my Ms and Rs in the late 90s to pay child support. (Canons and 8 Zeiss primes came in there, and I’ve moved bodies to R5s.)
      I first bought a Q for the 28mm, then m246 mono -since that’s what I shoot.
      My first buy of a 50 1.2 Nokton went away for a 50 Lux ASPH. Then got a 90 2.5 summarit. I thought I could compromise with a 25 mm Biogon but it’s going away this week for a 21 SEM-still wondering about the 21 biogon. Not sure what 28 m-mount yet- but I’m staying with E46. Biogon or Elmarit 2.8 v4… feeling pretty damn broke and irresponsible.
      I had purchased some Voightlander for the pancake sizes for my canon bodies, but realized I had to stop down three in order to get better sharpness. I don’t mind ignoring, but I’d like something crisp. Seeing how fast I dumped the Nokton, I doubt I’ll try them again- just not special. Seeing how many Zeiss ZE I have, I’m thinking the 28 biogon, but wondering if I should put the Biogon on at 21 and keep using the Q as a second body.

    I really appreciate the time and effort you have gone into making this video - I did the same (but not at your level of quality!) for my Fuji X100F. I just cannot get past the entry cost into Leica and would be really interested in your insights and justification in buying into such a system. It is a never ending question - I know that being made in Germany means greater costs in manufacturing, but what I'm really wanting to know - is that extra cost worth the added 5% we all crave in our images- does Leica create glass that is truly unique with its flaws and perfection in certain areas - or is it because we spend so much money on a camera and as a result take more photos as a result thus becoming a better photographer? I'll shut up now. Thanks.

    • @louiswhite4909
      @louiswhite4909 3 роки тому +1

      John Baseley I hope he answers you. I can tell you from my own very small experiences. I really like my results with Sony Kit. Started out with Nikon, still have those cameras and lens. Leica lens have a render that’s just different and dare I say special. The build quality is fantastic, they are expensive. But you really do buy a product that you could keep your entire life. Pass down to your heirs if you like. Not many things you can say that about these days. As you know having a Leica will not make anyone a better photographer. Unless it inspires you to shoot more, then well it will. Fuji gear is great and you already have that. If you can get to a Leica store, drop in and ask for a test drive. The Store in Los Angeles will let you take it out for a few hours. Hopefully the other store do also. Find out for yourself. Cheers!

    I love the light in your apartment. Great video. We have similar preferences in focal lengths. I’m on Fuji now, so it’s APS-C, but it’s all primes 16 (24 equivalent), 23 (35), 35 (50), 50 (75), and 90 (135). I agree with you on wides. Anything much wider than 21 becomes very gimmicky very quickly. My most used lens is by far my 23 (35 equivalent). Jack
