Used Photo Pro is amazing. Their physical location inside Roberts Camera in Indiana is sweet and I've bought a quite a few different items from them and have been very pleased with their descriptions. If you are ever in the area it's a must visit. I also for the heck of it had a few rolls dev and scanned while I was there and the quality was better than I expected. They are also very generous with their offers when buying equipment. Their reps travel out here to the west coast a few times a year to buy equipment at our local stores during a few local events where we have reps from all the manufacturers. They seriously care about the film community and I love to support them
@@michaelsherck5099 They do online and in the store. Last time I seen their rep at my local camera store he bought an 8x10 from a customer for used Photo Pro.
Just saw one of these on the Fred Miranda forum for $3,000 in great condition. I was really tempted, but I kept telling myself that I wouldn't gain much from the lens since I own the 21mm Summilux.
Awesome post! I am not a Leica shooter, but I knew about the first Tri-Elmar and I thought it was a great idea. You gave this wide one a nice workout. Loved the sign photos (esp. 7:29) and the bar photos on your trip. Your Getty stuff is great too, particularly the B&W for leveraging the texture and irregularity of the blocks. Nice touch shooting the video in B&W to match. Heck, all your video is a great compliment to the stills. That BBQ looked pretty good too, thanks for including it.
Have always been curious about this lens, great review. I'm curious if you'd see more difference between focal lengths with the 28-35-50 version - don't see many of those around.
Great shots!! As a Leica shooter I prioritize small size that the system allows. This is a great lens, however. I have and love the 21 SEM (Super-Elmar). It’s wicked!
4:11 as far as I can tell, you were actually in Barelas, a part of town Abq absorbed, which has also been around since before Abq. You actually got pictures of some really historic buildings, the drugstore which was a cornerstone of that community for a while (pre gentrification) and that recording studio being one of the first in NM (or so Ive heard). I love this historic ass town alot and love the shots you got. (I shoot on a pen ft and that is the most i will ever spend on a camera)
That BW getty photos are awesome! btw you should try 50s and 60s leica glasses for top-notch build quality..! (i.e., 35mm summilux v1, 35mm summicron v1, 50mm summilux v1, 21mm super angulon v1)
Great video and I am about to shoot some of that BW Ferrania so nice to have an idea of how it looks. Also, did I miss where you said what color film you loaded up for the end of the video? Loved those shots as well!
First thing on my Leica to remember is the lens cap - It’s amazing you can still set the f stop and focus it and everything with the lens cap totally on .. unless the gf says, ‘babe, lens cap is on ..’ Then set the lens, 21 or 35, then which finder lines ! Same with my 500cm with the 645 back on .. got it framed for square then oops !? it’s 645 stupid ..
I completely forgot the M8 had that 1.33 crop factor. Images were solid, but even with the more standard focal lengths with the 1.33 crop factor on the M8 the lens would be way too wide for me. Still, it's an interesting idea for a rangefinder lens. I just have trouble with 28mm being WAY too wide for me, much less the straight 16mm with this on a 35mm system.
There is this weird Leica lens it kind of has a rod at the top of the lens. Also you can't even get a adapter for it to fit on mirrorless. Maybe you can if you cut the rod? There is another Leica channel I think he's Japanese fellow he has that. UA-camr GxAce I think also has this lens. The Japanese man said the lens is amazing. Even when you take just regular photos there is something special about it. It makes even regular images good. He showed some examples and that lens is really good.
@@BadFlashes As a resident of New Mexico (and a photographer) I'm intrigued by this almost philosophical question. Is there a focal length that best captures the essence of a place!? And what is that focal length for New Mexico? It's definitely wide, to capture the amazing sunsets and geology, so I wouldn't argue with 32mm. I'm going to have to analyze my LR catalogues and see if I can discern any patterns. I'd love to see you do a video on this topic.
My biggest pet peeve is when photographers show their teeth when they take a photo as you did at 4:30. Every time I tell other photographers how much I hate this, they say I am crazy and it shouldn't matter. I try to explain that our entire business is built on the premise that how things look, matters. And if we believe that, why would we show our teeth to our subjects when we take a photo? It's necessary and it doesn't take much practice to close one eye without altering the rest of your face. What's your take on this?
Congrats on landing the sfx job for Oppenheimer 2: cold world!
Hahaha thanks. Couldn’t be happier.😝

@@BadFlashes It’s like you’re really IN that camera warehouse… magic.
The shop I use to go to had a Tri Elmer but didn’t buy it because I bought a Noctilux 50/1.0 with a 58mm filter size.
