- Taking a look at the T-2 from the Japanese tech tree in War Thunder. This plane surprised me, and ended up being much better than I thought it would be.

T-2 has turned out to be one of my most flown planes in RB. It requires discipline to fly well and the gun is tricky to aim sometimes. But boy is she fast.
Dude your putting out some savage content so quickly. Thanks so much, your one of the most undersubbed CCs iv ever seen
This guys amazing, totally agree. Can’t wait for him to blow up
"The Aim-9E isn't a good missile."
Oh how times have changed... remember when it was pretty much top of the line
They made Mitsubishi F-1 which is basically a single seat further realization of its fighter capability, the Japanese even affectionately dubbed it “Cyooumsuku Reisen”
(超音速零戦, lit: Supersonic Zero fighter)
As a T2 main this jet is just god for me I make lots of SL with this jet.
Do you have a talisman on it? And do you recommend it to grind the Kai?
@@yuyy8565 no I do not have a talisman on it but yes you should use it to grind for the kai
I just bought the t2 and am failing a lot, any tips?
@@moonshineofthemoon8054 ya try to fly high and dive down on people since you don’t get flares don’t try to turn fight, also you have PD radar
@@moonshineofthemoon8054fly fast and low, avoid planes with all aspect missiles, dont engage in turn fights unless the enemy plane cant turn (for example f105, f104 and so on) and there are no enemies nearby.
I remember when the T2 literally broke match making until the introduction of Mach 2 aircraft
"Don't turn fight more than 1 or 2 turns"
Proceeds to turn fight an F-5 in the background.
The F5 can probably put accelerate it. It almost certainly has a near top speed. Defenitly can out turn it, so really there’s no way out
Loved the T-2 when it was first released, and it's still fun now. Thanks for another great video Tim!
Really? I always thought that the T2 is a licensed built version of the Jaguar
Also I'm currently grinding for the Aim9E for my German phantom and your tip for how to use it sounds actually good.
Keep up the good vids man
I also have the German phantom in my opinion without his tip if was very unfun to play
One thing he doesn’t mention though is that the 9E while it does essentially have a 9B seeker, it has a significantly more powerful motor so it travels faster at mach 2.5 rather than mach 1.5 and it can reach targets at about 1/3rd more range than the 9B.
You do still have to be conservative with the 9E, but just keep in mind that people will have less reaction time against it, and you can shoot it slightly further out.
One notable inaccuracy in this video (and with Wikipedia on the T-2's article) is that no contract discussions with SEPECAT were ever had regarding the TX program (which would eventually become the T-2). The Jaguar was brought up during the 1969 diet discussions regarding FX candidates (the same one which would eventually select the F-4E) but was regarded as a poor choice for a fighter for Japan's demands.
The T-2 itself uses the same engines as the Jaguar due to independent negotiations with Rolls Royce for licensed production of the ADOUR engines, although they were not the only candidate engines for selection either. The T-2's got a superficial resemblance and shares the same engines as the Jaguar, however, there's no actual licensing between SEPECAT and Mitsubishi, nor have any such agreements been realistically under consideration.
Thoroughly enjoyed flying and spading my T2, even at 9.7. The gun is very good for it's BR. Great video, thank you!
Perfect timing, just about to get mine. Thanks!
I actually enjoy this plane a bunch! I just got it a few days back, and I’ve been having a blast. True, my K:D in it is only about 1 : 10, but that’s better than my average K:D, so I’ll take it. As the first jet I’ve played that’s supersonic, has guided AAM, and has radar, I’ve been on cloud nine. One of my favorite things is actually the radar, as I’ve managed to almost never get jumped, and even sometimes manage to line myself up well to attack a MiG 21 diving on my team from behind that everyone else didn’t notice. It’s was well worth the 3 month long grind in the Saber! It feels so ridiculously fast that I’ve almost had trouble restraining myself from just diving right down near the ground and spending the whole match seeing what acrobatics I can do in it.
Honestly, if you're enjoying the plane, your KD or WL mean nothing. Having fun is whats most important.
Absolutely love the info you gave!
You’re supper knowledgeable and these consistent reviews are so good to watch. The gameplay is relevant and you are always interesting and funny. Great vid
Thanks man. I get a fair amount of criticism because my gameplay footage isn't all 5-0 ace matches and stuff, but I deliberately try to demonstrate different loadouts/missionplans/etc etc.
Loving the plane reviews man but I’d love to see more prop planes than the po and the bomber you did. But always love watching these. Have a great day.
This, along with many other jets require discipline. Do not engage in any sort of dogfights except for bus planes like the Yak 38 and Harriers. It's one of the best 9.7 planes in the game.
Great vid! Your channels so underrated!
I just recently unlocked the F4C and after bombing out all the mods I’ve really taken a liking to the 8x 1000lbs bombs and 4 sparrows. Run in Mach 1.02 or so, drop bombs, turn around, missile thunder some AI and help teammates if possible, die. Also 30km radar locks are fun :)
I'm expecting 200% growth for your channel in the next month or so. If you keep this content coming of course.
One question: Why does it have a pulse doppler? Its basically useless with its missiles. Interesting.
Edit: 5:33 that luck though. Too bad you didn't manage to survive.
It's an addition, not to be relied on. They're useful on the F-1 since it uses AIM-9Ps.
It was a deliberate ram. He mentioned in chat after that he ran out of ammo, we shared some amusement since intentional rams are so rare in missile thunder tier gameplay.
I love how you can no longer specifically answer people on comments zzz
Anyway since it was a trainer, i guess pd was included so you can train that aswell for the real jet fighter
@@thunderousavenger7437 okay thanks!
@zenos700 it’d instantly shoot up to 10.3 minimum if they had the lead indicator back.
I have seen it somewhere that you can actually use the unguided rockets as makeshift flares which works to an acceptable degree, great video as always by the way
its semi usefull, but its better than nothing
great vid
I remember when this thing was the top jet fighter in war thunder. Those were the days
I love the 1980s safety video vibe.
I took off from a carrier yesterday in my German Seahawk!
It's a better grinding tool than the F-1 imho.
The F-1's lack of Flares at 10.3 on top of only average performance make the T-2 a much more pleasant flying experience and grinding machine that the F-1.
I agree the T-2 is very good at 9.7
@Vu Nam I've never actually flown the F-104J so I couldn't tell you
@Vu Nam the T-2 is a cool jet but it's not really good so i would go for the F-4J because it is quite good.
But tbh both aren't worth to purchase a talisman for them.
The F-4J is good but it faces similiar performing jets and there are better jets at that BR.
So yeah i wouldn't buy a talisman at all.
But if you really want to buy one go for the F-4J since the american tee is overall a lot better than the japanese one :)
@Vu Nam i missread it lmao
Well then ofc the F-104J.
I love it even tho it's more of an average jet but i get very good rounds in it.
But you have to know how to play it but when you do it is a good one.
Definetly go for the F-104J :D
Cool video of a great plane :)
there are so many jets I wish I could play but the grind is substantial :/ guess I'll have to settle for watching these videos while wishing I could play them lol
The T2 has a special place for me. Being my first super sonic it always felt like its acceleration and top speed was faster than most other aircraft around it. Because of that i always assumed it actually had an advantage in acceleration and speed but the more i played it i came to understand that the T2 had a very balanced play style. I think its perfect for 9.7. Yeah uptiers suck but 9.7 matches are always such a treat. I still bring it out every now and a again. Eve with other and probably better aircraft around it like the av8a and j35a i still enjoy it. Thanks for posting this video about it as i think it will help new pilots understand this aorcraft better than i did when i first played it.
You should apply for job at history channel. Love the Content and your voice
Hi Tim, have you considered doing a tutorial on the CCRP? I've just figured out how to use it and it's made grabbing strategic bases much more satisfying
What does it and CCIP stand for?
@@waremergencypower6024 constantly computer impact point and constantly computed release point
Remember when this thing was the fastest in the game?
"back in the day"
Was so broken back then. 😮💨 I avoided top tier like a plague in those days.
@@dogeness That’s the thing with new WT aircraft. They get added in a broken state, and they either get nerfed, uptiered or a combination of the two.
Dude
I am researching T2 rn and this is exactly what I would’ve asked for if I had to
How can you know
I loved this thing day one it came out, (altho i got it when f4c already existed) when it handeled alot worse, close to f4c levels of turning, bleeding speed around 50% faster/harder, and having worse engine power
But damn is it sexy
5:51 POV: the enemy tries to kamikaze (not Tims Variety)
I know that razors going to be here soon
*correct*
@@RazerTheDuck hello there mr duck
Maybe next you can review the F100D
3:53 that “Ground clutter” shouldnt be there. Thats just gaijin modeling their PD modes weirdly and the way their radar UI is set up making it look weird.
From what i can tell instead of modeling PD correctly where it ignores returns within a certain closure rate, gaijin has made PD radars have a stupid high amount of ground clutter that breaks the lock at the closure rate that each specific PD radar set would usually filter returns out at.
Will you do a video on the phantom c
please do the f1 now
It's a lovely plane to fly - much better platform than the 104
Was definitely a suprise inclusion to WT for me. The T-2 and F-1 aren't super well-known aircraft except to those that flew it or maybe hardcore jet enthusiasts. Quite happy to see more 'unknown' planes represented, even if the depiction isn't 100% accurate to life.
Fun fact; the T-2/F-1 use a license built copy of the Jaguar's engines. So not only does the plane share the Jaguar's design layout (though much sleeker), but it has the same powerplants. Japan just...*really* wanted the Jaguar lol
They didn't really want the Jaguar, in spite of the perceived interest we see on the internet. The Jaguar was never actually under consideration for the TX program, which is a common misconception, but rather, it was briefly mentioned during the 1969 diet meeting on the matter of the FX selection candidates (the fighter program which in this particular case would eventually go on to select the F-4E). It was deemed an inadequate candidate relative to the other potential selections (F-111, F-4E, P-530 - the patent name for an early iteration of what would become the YF-17, JA-37, Dassault Mirage, F-5, Jaguar, and the CL-1010-2 - a patent name for a potential successor design to the F-104). The only candidates for the F-X selection phase which made it to the 2nd stage of consideration were the F-4E, the CL-1010-2, and the Mirage, with the CL-1010-2 being written off as it was merely a patent, with the interest being mostly a result of Japan's preexisting acquisition of F-104s, and the Mirage being dropped for being quote "an unproven European design".
The T-2's ADOUR engines were selected through an independent license with Rolls Royce, and while the design itself has clear superficial connections to the Jaguar, no serious licensing discussions were ever had between Mitsubishi and SEPECAT on any matter surrounding the Jaguar.
"Japan decided to go the wrong way" 🤣
Isn’t the t2 a phantom wirh a jaguar wing ?
Just got this bad boy yesterday. Really cool jet.
you can drop gear at 650kph btw
Isn’t it a phantom variant ?
Hey Tim remember me from yesterday? ;) I was the f4E. Nice vid anyway
Omg you saw my coment!!! F-1 next!!!! Please!
The F-1 wont be next, but I'll get to it eventually. At least a dozen other video projects in the queue already.
@@TimsVariety thank so much for responding. Your videos have been so awesome and helpful! I can definitely wait! You helped me decide what air tech tree to grind and now I’m at the t-2! This video was helpful because I didn’t even notice the speed bleeding! Thank you so much!
Who remembers when the T-2 was the most op thing at top tier lol
Wikipedia mentions a strike aircraft derivative called F-1. Unlike T-2(K), F-1 has four underwing pylons, which seems to be closer to in-game loadouts. The radar set and the extra pilot matches T-2 though…
the F-1 is in WT tho lol
Bruh moment
The Mitsubishi F-1 is a different plane, based on the T-2 but not the same. It has its own entry in War Thunder.
Do you even play War Thunder?
So in their own respective br, would you say the French jaguar or the mitibushi t2 is better?
Also, do you think you can consider doing a video on the super mystere? I think the air-to-air guide able rockets would be interesting. Love the content!
Probably the Jaguar overall.
You're getting better at jet fighting. Try the mig-19pt next.
I'm probably going to do one on the mig-19 family at some point, similar to my video on the Su-7, since the Mig-19s in game are quite similar. The Mig-19 is one of my all time favorite aircraft, but I dont have the German one unlocked yet.
@@TimsVariety yes please do the mig 19 family! Currently just got the German one as my first supersonic
For some reason, I can’t put the Jaguar and the T-2’s design together… no idea what it is about the T-2, maybe it’s just that it’s smoother, but for some reason my brain just can’t link them. If I look closely, yeah, I see it, but at a glance, the T-2 and the Jaguar only look like distance cousins imho.
What is the intro song?
I mentioned it in my "1k subs" video.
i got it in a box thingy but i cant fly it, sadness
To me the t-2 looks more like a phantom that hasn't fully developed than to a jaguar
If you want to fly the T-2/F-1 you should learn how to keyboard fly your aircraft as well as bind a key to toggle your control mode to allow for greater use of the T-2/F-1's AoA that will help with the low speed turning problem.
note: with some skill you can pull up to 180 degrees of AoA.
...meaning that it can fly backwards?
@@LosBerkos Yes it can but without around 500-700m of altitude you will pancake.
@@yeetus_z9890 Sounds like you're due for refresher ground school if that's how you think AoA works
As I have this plane almost stock, it's a turd in my eyes.. I hope this changes with upgrades.. But so far, I'm not impressed.
Did it get better?
@@antonyerick5596 it got better, but with su25k and f5c spam, it’s close to unplayable now. So I’m staying away from this BR unless I’m seal clubbing in my su25..
