playing this and the f-1 might have been some of the least fun i've ever had in air rb, they're fun in ways but the high aoa and lack of flares is just super hard to overcome
It's a painful grind but something that helped a bit has been using rockets as makeshiift flares you can only use them while subsonic though unfortunately
I find it to be the most fun I had for a Rank 6 9.7 jet. You get 2 9Ps, which are almost guaranteed 2 kills if you know when to launch it and you can use Zunis for head on rocket kills / use them as flares. Yeah they hit your performance but it's worth it imo since the Zunis are launched individually.
I love playing the T-2 tbh, it's the most fun I had for a Rank 6 jet. Main reason why is because of the Zuni rocket pods that you can use for head-on kills and to flare off missiles. Imo the most efficient way to play this is like the F-104. Go in fast, try and take out a few targets, leave fast and try again. You can use the Zunis, use them for head-on against planes that don't carry radar / all aspect missiles.
I'm getting the T-2 in a couple days and just discovered that airburst Zunis are kind of nuts. However, I am worried that we only get 16 of them, and the burst distance really depends on the speed of the encounter. In ki-200, I find there are plenty opportunities where I have a target within 600-800m range but due to their maneuvering and my limited ammo, I can't land a reliable shot. I think the sidewinders are amazing for swatting those out of the sky before they pull a reversal or get away, but if Zunis could do it too... That would make them invaluable. Also, I know that mighty mouse have 1kg tnt only, but there's so many of them and they have a fuse also. Don't they work too?
@@iamgaard No, FFARs for the T-2 don't have air burst feature. The Zunis also fire one at a time. So for easy to flare missiles like R-60 just one is enough. Imo just set it to 1000m. For head-on and both you and the enemy are going fast, launch them around 1.6km, lower if both you and enemy aren't going as fast. You'd want to launch 2 or 3 of them at once to maximize your chances. If you're behind the enemy, get to around 0.6ish km and launch 1, 2 or even 3. If they don't maneuver or do it too late the Zunis will either kill or cripple the enemy enough for you to gun them down. Just don't go head on with planes that have radar missiles / all aspect, you're more likely to be shot down. Play the T-2 like a F-104 and you'll have a relatively high chance of success.
I always wanted the T-2 bcus i love the looks, and i've loved it's performance even before they've added 9P's for it. It plays simmilarly to Mig-21's, doesn't turn that well but in the same time doesn't loose energy in the slightest turn, and still provides great AoA. Flares? Well, it would be better with them, sure, but a lot of 9.7 planes don't have them. You have amazing engine power to gain speed if you suspect a missile. I don't understand why people dislike it. F-1 on other hand - yeah no. Same plane but up-BR'd.
Some seekers are capable of locking afterburners all aspect. All are capable of launching against missiles.. Launch at missile, and miss, it may lock a new target, like the afterburner that fired the missile. Fun
Not sure what it's like at that tier in RB - but in AB, the 'no flares/chaff' complaints on a 9.7 is (just from the US tree) the F8's, the AV-8's, the A-10's, the F-4C (if it can get a good lock with radar), the A6, to a lesser extent the A-7, and then the 2 11.0 F-4's that people manipulate the BR somehow to be that .3 less so they see 9.7's. Other than the A-6, premium AV-8/F-4, and the second A-7 I haven't flown yet I own and have used all of them, barring some incredibly 'wtf' misses or shooting the missile down for head ons, your toast any of them gets a lock from any range it can actually hit without some sort of CM. Aside from all the 'lol I'mma buy a rank 6+ jet' players, their the second of my bread and butter at high tiers along with the other way over BR'd planes in Air AB that either A: have no flares (this thing, US F-104's, F-105) or B: are so technologically outmatched it's not even funny (F-105, US F-104, and F-111).
I have a tremendously horrible time trying to get gun passes on other planes in a fight. Trying to lead a turn too hard to get guns on someone in front of you causes the rudder to flop the nose back and forth spastically instead of a smooth rolling turn like most other planes.
One of those planes where energy management needs to be second nature. If you must dogfight you have amazing performance for about 5 seconds. Straight line hit and runs arent sexy or particularly efficient, but can usually net decent results until you master her.
idk how u do good in this thing. I tried playing it again after this video i climbed to 10k meter and i still have ppl that climb to match me then radar lock me
@@F14BomBcat my man the only thing the t2 has over it is better missiles, its flight performance is significantly worse, it still doesn't have flares, and its at a higher br
You, guys need to play sim mode, air rb makes radar unnecessary, as in half of jets. Flying Stealth mode is also impossible. Recsntly an enemy F111 im sim mode took out 4(!) bases, before i was able to track him and take down in my premium japanese f4. Yes, sim mode is steeper to lear, but much more rewording in xp and sl. Gameplay is smarter and stealthier.

Yea I really don't like it it's just a Japanese F104
Honestly, Japan air ranks 6 and 7 kinda just suck
It's a painful grind but something that helped a bit has been using rockets as makeshiift flares you can only use them while subsonic though unfortunately
idk i like it to me it's an absolute A-10 ambusher, yeah againts the F-5Cs you are dead but i love it

yep totally agree
If you need flares, you can pack 76 small caliber or 16 large. They are called FFARs and Zunis ;)
I don't know what to say about that head on missile kill to the SU-25, that was just awesome.
I did the exact same thing with an AIM9-B in the F-104A recently.
Some seekers are capable of locking afterburners all aspect. All are capable of launching against missiles..
Launch at missile, and miss, it may lock a new target, like the afterburner that fired the missile. Fun
I am the J32B that crashed at 1:28. Never realized I was in your game, and I can't remember why I crashed :(
nice :)
I reluctantly bought a talisman for it to grind Japan and was pretty surprised with how good it was, I ended up getting a 7 kill game at one point

This plane was pure suffering until around 75%spaded but after that it's godlike with the acceleration and aim9p's.
No need for flares.
Rockets as makeshift flairs work too

Nice I was in a game with you when you were playing this on the the Rocky pillars map. I said hi. 😊
i really like the T-2, but u usually carry some rockets and a bomb to start with a base and then switch over to Air-to-Air
tankenstein would the t055 work with the t55am-1 at 8.7 or is that too much of an upteir for the to55
Dislike for sins u did 3:20
Perfect, I just unlocked this plane.
the f-104 , t-2 and f-1 made me really bored of air rb, currently really enjoying the shenyang f-5
I'm planning to skip this and play from the F-1 instead, (already struggling with the F-104J).
The F1 is essentially the same jet up BR'd without flares. Don't do it.
The T2 is better in any way because of only 9.7 BR
@@Jebotito arguably worse as it trades backup pilot for ground attack computer
Hey Tankenstien What would you recommend for a new UA-camr starting out making content teaching people how to play warthundet
I'm struggling badly with my t2

Sup tankenstein
Baby f4 phantom
Im suprised you're not a gaijin cc partner yet 🤔
Play helldivers 2
Ill do one pushup for every like this comment gets.

This thing is awful, I got this because of your video and was extremely disappointed
the T-2 is honestly just a worse f104
This is the most brain dead thing iv heard
