I did the exact same thing you did 15 years ago. I bought a 308GTSI 1982 with 98K miles. I have no mechanical experience and relied a couple friends to help. Constant oil leak and window motor issue and overheating. However I drove it for 2 years and put 10K on it and enjoyed the hell out of it and crossed it off the bucket list. The family was growing and off it went. I sold it at auction for 25K which is what I paid for it. Have fun and enjoy. It’s still the top looking Ferrari ever made. The fact that you are mechanically inclined puts you miles ahead of most. Good luck and enjoy Ferrantine time.
As the owner of CCA I am fascinated to watch your video. Congratulations! Out of interest we do an HPI pre auction and also an MOT/mileage check, so you had no worries there. I hope you are pleased with our service and above all enjoy the car. Cheers and thanks for the business.
Good to hear from you Nick. The team have been very helpful so far, good to know on the HPI! I believe the car will be delivered on Wednesday so will do an update as some point.
And so unravels a new and quite brilliant series of vids: an ordinary man and his Ferrari adventures! I’m so looking forward to seeing you and your new prancing horse entertain me... I think you could be onto something here. Here’s to all your new subscribers!
Excellent! ....the market has gone crazy. I've picked up a 996(with a 'tick' on the engine) for 2.5k and a Renault Alpine GTA fully rebuilt for 4k. Not as wild as a 308 but entertaining nonetheless. Sincerely, congratulations, there's nothing like the joy of your 1st Ferrari, there may be a touch of heartache and regret at 1st but power through it, the rewards are worth it. More hidden depth than almost anything I've owned. 10/10
I have a 1330 Frogeye + an early 308 too. For the Frog you really need to have it set up on a rolling road. There are simply too many variables for home tuning, and you'd end up with it running faster and with far better fuel economy. Early 308's need to be leaned out to pass MOT's and reset back afterwards.
20 years with ferraris, I would not hesitate buying a ferrari like this. They are super easy to work on. Well done and congratulations. There are old classic porsche 912s and there are old classic Ferrari 308s🤗🥰🥰 Oh and 4.20 in, did you call it a 348😂
Every car unseen or not is going to have issues. I've had good cars and bad and they all had the same thing in common.... They all required repair at one time or another. Best of luck on this project!
Every Petrolhead wants to own a Ferrari in their lifetime. With your Italian background its a must. The car appears sound - for now all you need to do is check all the items mentioned in the MOT history and do them properly. You can also link up with Ratarossa in one of your videos. I saw (and filmed) a 308 at Februarys London Classic Car show. The only snag was the fact that it was electric. We all look forward to see yours. Good luck!
I've been following this Influenzo saga but i only watched this video today. It's funny(?) to see your expectations and hopes back then. If only you could predict what's coming .. i know you probably have done it again anyway.
It’s a great car Jack. I own a 308 GT4. Had a few very similar issues as you have. But all were fixable and it runs so nicely now. Brought it last year and was excited to be able to drive it this summer. Of course not doing that out of respect to the lockdown. I would be afraid even to drive it to Sainsbury’s, it does stand out a bit. Hope you don’t get any attention and you make it there and back. Great video. New to subscribing to you. Looking forward to more on this car. Thanks
I know what you mean about the trip to supermarket but I will take it.. it’s a legitimate trip, when I run out of food! Thanks very much for the good wishes and support!!
You should chill out, I still take my lotus out for blasts on the empty roads in the amazing sunshine to get my shopping, don't be so subservient to our corupt government and besides it's all over blown if you care to do a little independent research ( and my wife works in the NHS and can confirm it's not like the mainstream media or government are saying )
I was wondering what was tougher to own from a cost for maintenance standpoint. And not being able to work on them yourself. My neighbor owns a large import auto clinic and told me to stay away from both lol.
Nice Tamiya RCs, Rough Rider, Super Champ, Sand Scorcher, Frog. Are they from the original release in the 80’s? I’ve watched the next video, i hope the smoke thing is going to be sorted out soon.
Great channel find, my mate sent me a link to this Ferrari, it was just the fact it was left hand drive that put me off, saw a right hand drive one go for auction the week before for 54K i think. Really looking forward to the upcoming videos of you working on it, one of my absolute dream cars, best of luck mate.
Good luck with the project...I have always dreamed about a Ferrari and probably could afford to buy one but not sure if I could afford to run it... looking forward to seeing and hearing your experiences with it! Enjoy the journey!!!
Ha!! Yes, love a bit of vintage RC.. not sure if visible in the video but next to the Tamiyas is a shake with all the recai f stuff, including a Cat, Mini Mustang, Maxima, Optima Mid and the original chain drive one too. Thanks for searching the videos out!
Yes, I was looking at a testicle transplant to some smaller ones, but unfortunately the price of the engine rebuild probably means I can’t now afford the top line solid gold ones and will have to settle for a standard pair.
Jack I hope you are lucky as everyone I know who has owned a Ferrari has ended up a lot poorer for the experience and heartbroken!! I've looked over the years at a 246, 328 and 355 but ended up with Porsches as the maintenance costs of the Ferrari scared my wallet !!
I know.. part of me is cocky about this, believing that I can do most of whatever needs doing to keep costs down. The other part thinks the cocky me is a deluded idiot.
Number 27 there’s another guy on UA-cam who’s got one of these and a few other Ferrari’s. He does all the maintenance on them himself. You should get in touch with him. His Chanel is called ratarossa or something like that
@dazgreen Yup! @Number 27 He's got several Ferrari's, he buys them cheap and then fixes all the issues. He *does* do all the work himself, with minimum resources. Here's a link to his channel! ua-cam.com/channels/A0ZY1x5r2lyKQfoUYvHvqQ.html You should definately get in tough with him, he knows a lot. (also how to find out if certain parts are used for other brands, so you can get them much cheaper!
Absolutely, never in doubt, I have mates who are equally supportive, although I may be tricking my mind into thinking the looks on the faces of my friends are of support rather than derision 😁.
MY choice would be the gold bubble of a porsche....but then again like the rest of us said...sight unseen, U got big ones Brathaaa!!! have fun N keep smiling!!
Well I'm on vid number 2! I figured I ought to go back and catch up to see how you got to where you are now. The if only I knew then what I know now springs to mind though lol
@@Number27 Jack in truth you could have found the diamond among the rocks there pal , I'd say engine wise fairly straightforward to work on so perfect content for the channel and to top off the body work looks fantastic in the pictures. The 308 is a fantastic 80s iconic car good luck with the new venture and I look forward to the uploads stay safe 👍
the car you auctioned , is a wonderful ferrari , and it came cheap....so don't search every detail, let it repair at a ferrari shop and enjoy this wonderful masterpiece ...
The title of your video made me think there was some scandal or even a big surprise. I watched it all the way to the end waiting for the big shocker or the questions it raised. Good luck with the car, it would be interesting to see it when it arrives and what work you have to do on it
Hey, well it was a different colour for a start.. that’s normally not good news for a Ferrari. And the MOT history is pretty patchy! New update video out tomorrow.. car is here! Thanks for watching !
Well? Has it arrived yet? I saw it on the same auction site although wasn't as tempted as you were! Well done.....beautiful car (hopefully!) Looking forward to the next installment......
Love these cars! Congrats on bagging it for a super price! MOT advisory states all chassis corroded/both sills corroded. Hope she's not to bad under there!
Your a legend bro, taking on this cool car, its gonna be a great series, waiting for the next step in the project, if I could afford a car like this I'd be so into working on an old Ferrari too, cheers bro
If there is anything that proves my financial acumen, this is it. Warren Buffet is nothing on me. Thank you for watching my fiend and hope to see you in the not to distant future!!!
Absolute madness that you didn’t even do a basic HPI or MOT history check, wouldn’t buy a £500 car without checking this first. HPI should tell you of a colour change too. Cheap Ferrari tho, hope doesn’t cost too much to get it to as you want it mate
17:35 "Oh Jack... oh dear..." I am still laughing to the point of tears in my eyes!!! Jack, you are the British version of me!!! Or vice versa... I even have those same pajama bottoms. And though I haven't purchased a 40 year old Ferrari (yet), I did recently purchase a 20 year old Mercedes Geländewagen, sight unseen, from the other side of the country. Surely that counts. :D
This car will definitely give you content. I spent 2 years fixing mine after buying it from Wayne Carini. At least you didn't buy yours from the same source.
@@Number27 Because yours is a Euro model you won't have to deal with air injection (check valves and vacuum lines) a CAT (man that makes a power difference), and since you have carbs the complicated fuel injection system. When you pull the carpets out to inspect the car don't be shocked by the build quality-it's horrible compared to Porsche. Don't lean on the front wings because the metal is such a lite gauge it will dent. The oil leaks are intense with these cars-one of them stems from the shifter linkage passing through the oil pan-insane engineering. The distributor caps crack easily and the spark plug wire extenders often are burned through and arc to the block. Replace all the fuel lines if you don't want a fire. Basically replace every rubber hose in the car if it hasn't been done in the last 10 years. All the sensors are prone to failure, the fuse blocks are shite and most people replace them immediately. The switches usually fail and are horrendously expensive. I could go on, and on, and on...
Hi! I haven’t commented before but not sure if you saw the post. This car was my fathers for many years and we have lovely memories with it. We owned it up until 2005 before my father moved back to his home in Italy. Happy to share photos and any info we can give about the car during our years of ownership of it. Can supply email or phone number if you fancy a chat. Cheers. Franco
@@Number27 Ratarossa made good buy on a red 911 T porsche for 10k recon will cost him a bit but still be a good buy hope this ferarri the same he got 911 going well the T being on carbs
So we're about to go into the biggest recession for a 100 years and you bought a high mileage non running ferrari.........well at least we're all have something interesting to watch whilst we sit at home waiting for our universal credit to come in. Me personally. .....ive been selling my classic cars as fast as possible as I don't see a future in combustion engine cars anymore and the World Economic Forum held at Davos made it clear they want ALL cars non electric of the road by 2030. Anyways. ...I'm sure your give us lots of entertainment over the coming months so thanks for your bravery. ......see.....I didn't say folly ; )
All of those M.O.T. failures are trivial, especially on a car of that age, structural rot and serious oil leaks are things to genuinely cause concern and it that department there seems to be no issues.
Much better than it might have been, barring an absolute crash in values from CV, pretty sure you’ll come out of this OK. If all else fails, paint it white again and I’ll generously offer u 15. 👍
Number 27 Awesome, I vaguely remember them from back in the day, I had a few Tamiya cars including the 959 Dakar, I still have it and a Wild One and a Kyosho Turbo Optima but yea, the Bull Dog is great, nice collection of cars you got there👍
I hope they did a really really good spray job on that car....n so does the new owner...a nice guy i wish him luck got to know him really well fm his last u tube vid ××
Looks like you have dodged a bullet you crazy 🤪 horse!! At the end of the day who really goes out and sensibly buys a ferrari unless it's a big money 60Ts classic 275 gtb etc... or a super car F40... Most people buy them with their hearts just like you did and now you own a bloody "FERRARI" !!!!! Super cool 😎 🤜 🤜 👌 👌 🇮🇹 🇬🇧 Health to Enjoy Rockstar!! 🎉 🎉 🎉
Ferrari 308 - wow ! Great news about the bodywork. Funny you say about purists and colour changes - Ian Barkaway has just changed the colour on his 308. Have you checked his videos out ? Scott at rataroosa would be a great source of info, he's got a couple of 308s he bought unseen .
If you need help with the car try contacting youtuber Ratarossa, he has loads of Ferraris he fixes up and maintains himself. He has a few 308 ferraris i think and lives in uk.
It’s not just essential businesses that are allowed to continue. Other businesses can function too as long as they take precautions. Car transporters etch still working. I’ve paid for it and frankly I’m nervous having paid and not having car or documents for too long, so will probably get them to drop it off.
Number 27 the message is clear help the NHS, stay home, stay safe ...delivering sports cars is non essential 🙏 Judging from the idiots out in the sun today this lockdown will either be extended or anarchy may descend? I don’t qualify for any form of government help, I’m very eager to get my business going again. I’m one of the lucky ones, in terms of having a 36 month buffer. Enjoy your new toy, I think you’ve bought fairly well, assuming you’ve bought it to use it. Understanding the hierarchy of markets, prime blue chip generally remains in tact or is the very first to recover, secondary and tertiary sectors get hammered the most. There may be some summer bargains to be had. Please don’t take my message negatively..... I’m just frustrated seeing selfish idiots thinking they know better than the Chief Medical Officer. Good luck & god bless 🙏😷
....bring it to a real certificated ferrari shop , and do not touch it anymore....you have 2 left hands and will never be happy with this car , until its overhauled by ferrari...hugs dd... owner of a tr 512 bj. 1993

@@Number27 Well at least you are a funny bastard with a sense of humour, which I can say as an Aussie!! Good luck with it Magnum !!
I don't have the walnuts you do mate, taking on a 308. I kept the 993 and bought a 240Z, which has been 90% rotisserie restored.
Number 27 there’s another guy on UA-cam who’s got one of these and a few other Ferrari’s. He does all the maintenance on them himself. You should get in touch with him.
His Chanel is called ratarossa or something like that
@dazgreen
Yup!
@Number 27
He's got several Ferrari's, he buys them cheap and then fixes all the issues.
He *does* do all the work himself, with minimum resources.
Here's a link to his channel!
ua-cam.com/channels/A0ZY1x5r2lyKQfoUYvHvqQ.html
You should definately get in tough with him, he knows a lot. (also how to find out if certain parts are used for other brands, so you can get them much cheaper!
One of the best looking Ferrari’s ever.
2nd to the 355 and that's no bad place to be 👍
288 GTO was the looker
Let the fun begin!
Or the pain?
Love how your mates have absolute confidence in your purchase and are fully behind your decision 😁. Sounds very familiar... Good choice 👍.
Mate, they are solid. Behind me all the way. If I ever doubt myself, a call to a friend and ...... 😉
Absolutely, never in doubt, I have mates who are equally supportive, although I may be tricking my mind into thinking the looks on the faces of my friends are of support rather than derision 😁.
Magnum PJ 🤣👌🏽brilliant what a sport you are fella 👍🏽
Thanks buddy 🙏
If you want to see a great MOT History, take a look at the one on my grandads lotus Cortina, the mileage is all over the place.
That’s awesome Niel.. hope you enjoy the series.. there is so much to go after this one!!!
Quarantine and buys a Ferrari 🤣🤣 and I was thinking about buying another watch , top trumps's me there 🤣🤣👍
Yes, I’m a genius. Everyone agrees. Believe me, I’m a winner. If anyone disagrees it’s fake news and they are all losers. MAKE MAGNUM PJ GREAT AGAIN
Thinking about selling my GMT Master if you are interested
@@marcgoodman4561 the idea is great but the wife has put the brakes on watch purchases for now 🤣 apparently she wants the drive doing !
Hope all goes well mate. Can’t wait for more videos
Hopefully soon!! Maybe delivery next week!
Did you check the vin ( car fax/auto check ) before you bid/purchased the car ?
Great story. OK, I’m in!. Looking forward to more updates. Good luck to you.
Congratulations! Nice project! Will be following your progress!
the car you auctioned , is a wonderful ferrari , and it came cheap....so don't search every detail, let it repair at a ferrari shop and enjoy this wonderful masterpiece ...
It has... update video out tomorrow! Thanks for the support!
Love these cars! Congrats on bagging it for a super price!
MOT advisory states all chassis corroded/both sills corroded. Hope she's not to bad under there!
No spoke to the owner, it was just surface corrosion now sorted. That MOT tester was a tool, you can tell from the rest of the stuff he picked up.
@@Number27 Excellent! Look forward to future updates :)
I’m envious 😬 of your quietness but I thank you cause you’re giving me the courage to do the same thing🤣
Go for it!! I think.. 😄
Your a legend bro, taking on this cool car, its gonna be a great series, waiting for the next step in the project, if I could afford a car like this I'd be so into working on an old Ferrari too, cheers bro
Thank for the support Daniel, much appreciated!
Superb Jack, looking forward to seeing the videos this car will bring.
Me too.. just hope I can get hold of it at some point soon!
Your Frogeye looks identical to one I had some years ago - LSK747. Is it a small world?
Lovely cars.. love mine!!
Awesome stuff, can’t wait to see the next instalment
Great stuff, matey. A brilliantly impulsive buy. I love it. Have fun working on it and hope to see it soon. Take care.
If there is anything that proves my financial acumen, this is it. Warren Buffet is nothing on me. Thank you for watching my fiend and hope to see you in the not to distant future!!!
New to channel looking forward to the next part. Advice is always good but sometimes you just have to go for it. :)
I still think it's good idea. Hope we can see the 205 soon too!
Hope to get that as soon as lock down is done with! Thanks 🙏
Absolute madness that you didn’t even do a basic HPI or MOT history check, wouldn’t buy a £500 car without checking this first.
HPI should tell you of a colour change too.
Cheap Ferrari tho, hope doesn’t cost too much to get it to as you want it mate
Hey. It was total madness... I don’t know why came over me. 🤷🏻♂️. Thanks for watching!
Are you going to be doing any videos on the 205? Tamiya Sand scorcher in the garage, cool :)
Yep, soon as I get the 205 will be doing a video or two!!
Ha!! Sounds like you had a tough time..!
Thank you, interesting info right there.. and you’ve only scared me a little bit..
the reactions are sooo good! Best part of the video. Think it could have been worse to be honest. Still think it was a great decision! Why not!?
Glad you liked that bit buddy!’ Not sure how many watched the video to the end!!
Love your videos and style. Keep up the good work!. Keep safe good Sir! 😎
Well thank you!! Keep watching!! Thanks 🙏
Just curious as a new subscriber. Which cars do you own now?
Cheers. Franco
Ok, when your going to miserably fail servicing the engine, you can just call @ratarossa !
I will not fail!! It’s a simple
Engine.. found his videos already. Looks good! Thanks 🙏
@@Number27 Ratarossa made good buy on a red 911 T porsche for 10k recon will cost him a bit but still be a good buy hope this ferarri the same he got 911 going well the T being on carbs
Do a major service and enjoy. These cars are a lot of fun and the drivetrains are pretty robust.
The carbs are pretty simple, set and forget.
Looks nice, good luck!
Thank you Mark! And for watching
I cant understand that someone imported this from Holland in 2006, the LHD 208 s was so cheap in the UK in 2006 and there was some really nice ones.
Don’t know!
The end made my cry with laughter, brilliant ! oh Jack oh dear
Ha! Glad you enjoyed it!!!
I made a video two weeks ago on how prices were going to plummet. 5 days later I bought this 🤦🏻.... I’m glad I can at least entertain others!
All of those M.O.T. failures are trivial, especially on a car of that age, structural rot and serious oil leaks are things to genuinely cause concern and it that department there seems to be no issues.
I agree.. thanks for watching sir and enjoy the holidays!
Nice Rough Riders!.
Hi so happy for you👍🏻 always look on the bright side of life!!!!
Thank you Karol. Hope all good with you!!
Great stuff, love it! You buy cars just like me, unseeen. Looking forward to Ferrari updates ;)
Thank you.. must take less risk next time!!
Much better than it might have been, barring an absolute crash in values from CV, pretty sure you’ll come out of this OK. If all else fails, paint it white again and I’ll generously offer u 15. 👍
Very kind Greg!! I will never paint it white!! Like these in darkest colours though!
Such a beautiful car
Is that a Hirobo Zerda next your Sand Scorcher, rare RCs are just as much my thing as Ferrari’s 👍
No it’s a Mugen Bulldog, very rare and rather ahead of its time. Look it up!! 4wd, 4ws, air shocks, mid engine and all in the mid 80s..
Number 27 Awesome, I vaguely remember them from back in the day, I had a few Tamiya cars including the 959 Dakar, I still have it and a Wild One and a Kyosho Turbo Optima but yea, the Bull Dog is great, nice collection of cars you got there👍
Can’t wait to see the car mate!
Me too!! Hopefully next week!
I can't wait to make that same phone call to my brother.... and I am sure he will have a similar response when I do.
Looking forward to this fun
Me too. At this stage. That may change..
@@Number27 good luck and it will be great viewing

We are all loosing money at this point so at least you will have fun doing it 😁😝💰🤑👍
Your mileage is almost the same as my car! I got 127k miles on it 😁
On a 308?? Congrats!!
@@Number27 yes sir 👍😁
What fun..😁👍
Makes my Alfa habit look reasonable...
Yes.. I’ve had Alfa habits in the past. Like all the best people
I thought 308 Ferrari had 4 Monza muffer tips ?😳😕🇮🇹
Looks like you have dodged a bullet you crazy 🤪 horse!! At the end of the day who really goes out and sensibly buys a ferrari unless it's a big money 60Ts classic 275 gtb etc... or a super car F40... Most people buy them with their hearts just like you did and now you own a bloody "FERRARI" !!!!!
Super cool 😎 🤜 🤜 👌 👌 🇮🇹 🇬🇧
Health to Enjoy Rockstar!! 🎉 🎉 🎉
Ps your mums cool rhyming off the correct car straight away sounds like you have had her helping you pump the breaks etc over the year!! 😉
I'd be happy with the Sprite
Was happy with it.. that has angine issues too..
Don’t listen no one 😊 the price you pay for the Ferrari is the right 👍😊
Thank you Kiri and for watching !!
Amazing! Exactly the way to buy a Ferrari.
Thank you Mike, lovely chatting to you earlier!! Will give you a buzz again soon for a longer chat!
Been to the Hoovie school of buying shitters
Awesome 😎
Seems you have struck lucky....bet you cannot wait to get it 😂
Totally chomping at the bit!!!!
Thank you, will check Ian’s videos and have of course seen the Ratarossa stuff already!!
If you need help with the car try contacting youtuber Ratarossa, he has loads of Ferraris he fixes up and maintains himself. He has a few 308 ferraris i think and lives in uk.
Thanks Sam.. I have tried but not heaRd from him as yet.
Why are people bothered if a car failed 6 years ago? Unless it was rotten, it’s just a car... they need parts changed throughout their life.
They do but generally lots of MOT fails indicate that a car is being run on a shoestring..
Fortune Favours the Brave
Maybe in this case it favours the reckless!! Let’s hope Kim!
Engine rebuild
Wiki leaks not vin leaks mate (joking)
''Boredom and lack of girlfriends''.............................way fucking cheaper than them.............and Ferrari's can be fixed..
I would dare say “lee’s” business would be viewed as being non essential...... 😯
It’s not just essential businesses that are allowed to continue. Other businesses can function too as long as they take precautions. Car transporters etch still working. I’ve paid for it and frankly I’m nervous having paid and not having car or documents for too long, so will probably get them to drop it off.
Number 27 the message is clear help the NHS, stay home, stay safe ...delivering sports cars is non essential 🙏
Judging from the idiots out in the sun today this lockdown will either be extended or anarchy may descend?
