Great stuff. You just need to add a few gears, a hammer action and a torque clutch release and you'll be set.
Definitely needs gear reduction so won't smoke the bit while drilling steel.
It might hammer drill the entire drill in the concrete that things a beast😂

Yes, starting with a high end Makita hammer drill would make a big difference.
Drill- Packedge in typical box, came with a tool bag (added bonus), two batteries, one charger, drill, and driver. Two words "plenty of Torque" ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv well I guess that's three. Nice upgrade from current setup. Has belt clips, I don't think I will be using those. Driver and drill were bigger than what I expected but it is an upgrade from the current setup. For the money I would say that this is a great setup for Professionals and DIY/Weekend warriors.
You need to add a centrifugal clutch and the 2 speed transmission from a cordless drill, then you have a really useful tool.
This project is ridiculous and awesome in equal measure, I love it! The Binford Tools shirt was a nice touch. ;)

That V8 drill is not silly. It's friggin AWESOME! I'm sure you could find another platform instead of sacrificing a cordless drill for the handle (for mass production in the future).

4:48 i would have drilled some holes into the baseplate (that align up where the plastic comes into contact with the baseplate) so that the JBweld would ooze through to have a more secure bond, i would have done the same with the plastic handle so it wouldn't be just the glue holding the handle to the baseplate there would be a physical hold as well.

Could you run it through a gear box from a battery drill/driver combo. That way you get a clutch, various gears and torque settings plus hammer drill setting etc.....

Yeah reading some of the posts definitely get a rc 4 sprung clutch set up and you can run a micro pull cable for the trigger and throttle but great hobby build

Although it’s like you said, kind of a useless tool, you may find one day you have a unique problem which reminds you of this build. At the very least, it was a problem solver. 👍🏼
