RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA - Welcome to Riyadh, the biggest city in Saudi Arabia and today we’re going on a mixed food tour to eat one of the biggest and most popular shawarma’s in the city, to eat a local family feast, and then to hang out with Hisham who will cook us the national food of Saudi Arabia!
Mama Noura (goo.gl/maps/kq...) - Easily one of the most famous restaurants in all of Riyadh is Mama Noura, where they serve what is probably the biggest shawarma in Saudi Arabia, they serve 1000’s and 1000’s of customers everyday. Their main shawarma is made from chicken, marinated perfectly and served in house made bread with garlic sauce and pickles. One of the characteristic differences is that it’s served very small, like sliders, so you can eat many of them. We also tried their juices which are popular as well. This is a must eat when you’re in Saudi Arabia!
Home meal in Riyadh - Next up we we were kindly invited over to the home of Turkey who invited to share a meal with his family. Typically every weekend they gather together to cook and eat. Today, Uncle made his famous mandi, and we also had braised camel. The meal was outstanding, laying over a bed of rice and all of us coming together for the feast. We also sat by the fire, enjoyed each others company and a variety of different snacks and Saudi Arabian delicacies - and of course Saudi coffee and sweet tea. It was truly a remarkable experience and display of genuine hospitality.
Kabsa with Hisham - Huge thanks to Hisham: / @misho_baeshen - Finally to round up this tour, we headed over to Hisham’s house where he cooked orange kabsa, what is probably the national food of Saudi Arabia and his particular recipe originating from his family in Makkah. It was incredible to learn about all the Arabian spices and ingredients that went into the recipe and then to share the kabsa with Hisham at his house. Thank you Hisaham!
Thank you again to / @misho_baeshen and to Visit Saudi Arabia for arranging my trip and this incredible experience!

The hospitality of the Saudi people is amazing
many people say saudis are rude but i stayed 10 yrs they are really clear hearted people
they love to feed you thier hospitality is amazing they mingle with expats so well every country has its own negatives and positives but for me saudi was really beautiful country people are very hospitable they never leave u untill u visit them wonderful saudi
Thank you 🤍 You are welcome in your home 🇸🇦
many people say saudis are rude because most saudis are rude and snobbish.
A lot are. The ones that aren't are probably middle class or Bedouin types or the family that they showed in this vlog. Also a lot hate south Asians and other people from poorer countries.
Some illiterate Saudis are rude too ,in addition to some rich Saudis. If they're good Saudis they are extremely good. The others treat Asians as miskeens( poor) just because we work in their country. But people are changing now.If they change ,good for them.@@SandS72
Good morning Mark. You again have shown how beautiful the cuisine of Saudi Arabia truly is an art. This trip has been so wonderful to watch and learn. Blessings to all that made this trip possible and my sincere thanks to you Mark for bringing us along.
Honestly, I think the Saudi series is one of my favorite of Mark Weins’ vlogs. I hope there are more episodes for Saudi Arabia! I didn’t realize how much authentic dishes there are in Saudi. All I know is Kabsa and Mandi.
Saudi cuisine is very diverse. It is for the most part divided into Northern, southern, Western, and eastern cuisines. Each part has their own way of cooking food and even different proteins and carbs used. However, in the Major cities like Riyadh and Jeddah you might find places for all the different cuisines, but 9 out 10 times it's not made in the authentic way.

Middle Eastern Food seems underrated. More people should appreciate this type of cuisine. We also appreciate how Mark diligently does what he loves most: exploring exotic places and meeting new friendly faces. God bless him.
Thank you very much Sophia, appreciate it!
Who said is underrated? My thoughts were that everybody loves oriental food ❤️

Agreed!
I love watching these videos not only because the food, but the interaction between the tripper and the locals. The world should be just like that.
When i went back to Riyadh few months ago, the first thing i wanted to eat was the Mama Noura's Shawarma. I truly love the Saudi cuisine especially kabsa. I wish they have it here in Texas. Really enjoyed your Saudi Food Trip... totally amazing. Every bite was mouth-watering. Thanks Mark for taking us a long with you.
Kabsa isnt street food, the same goes for Palestine‘s Maklouba. That’s why it is hard to find restaurants making it
Where do you live in Texas? I’m in the DFW area and the closest I found to our Saudi cuisine are Yemeni restaurants like Hadramout restaurant in Dallas and Houston 👍🏻

Thanks mark for visiting Mama noura and Riyadh as whole! Mama noura is definitely an iconic spot here in Riyadh. My friends and I had so many memories growing up in Riyadh playing football for hours and downing 4/5 shawarmas after we were starving, ordering a cocktail juice it would hit different! Can’t wait to go back and have some for the memories !

The quality of food in Saudi specialty from the whole in the wall places to the fine dining places is unmatched. For the price you pay at some places the quality you receive in return is just amazing.
Mr Wiens, as much as everything is exotic and yammy, I have not seen the beautiful women of Riyadh involve in these wonderful occasions
@@beatricedamba6302In such family gatherings, women and children also have their own traditions where they cook and eat and hang out. Mostly, men cook their dinner like in the video, and women cook whatever they want separately but sometimes men make dinner for the entire family.

Thanks for sharing Mark, my kids love Shawarma and so addicting especially with a little bit of spicy.. say hello to my Filipino friends in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabian food is seriously underrated around the world, I wish it was more widely known. I absolutely love SHAWARMA, but many people (especially in the UK, associate it with dodgy kebabs after a party night). It's so sad how wonderful cuisines are sometimes made to be trashy in some places. Craving authentic, fresh Shawarma now :)

Then the chef at the end with that fantastic laugh, loved him. Wanted all the food!!!!

My mouth is completely watering🤤🤤🤤. I lived in Oman for many years and I had similar food as Omani and Yemeni Saudi Emirati all are similar and the mandi and kabsa are so good. I really like camel but I had it cooked differently so I would love to have tried this version. The way mine was cooked was in its own fat like a camel fry very fatty so best to eat before its cold and congealed but so full of flavor, to me it reminded me of a beef roast. My favorite shwarma came from a turkish place near my home I prefered it over all other restaurants lol but they also had shwarmas similar to those in this video at other places.
Beautiful culture, great food with great company to enjoy it
Oh man! That 'shawarma' in Riyadh my one & only favorite when I was working there back in '03. I misses Riyadh, the Kabsa and the aroma of the their food! I can still smell real Suadi in the air! I hope to visit again someday soon.😋😋👍👍😊😊
