Hear me out: a mount with an NPC that casts all the buffs on you. Fort, battle shout, int, mark, even old pally buffs like kings and might. Works in the arena. $150. :3
There is an auction house in Dornogal and Valdrakken. However there wasn’t one in Oribos in shadowlands so having the Longboi was major quality of life back then. But now with the crafting tables, being able to have quick access to AH and mailbox is very useful.
@@mirandelf there was if you wanted to commit one of your professions to engineering. You didnt have to do anything for it just learn 1 point into it. But In oribos there was a eng only AH, along with northrend and a few other cities that didnt have a public one.
A 5 person flying/skyriding mount with a Bank, Auction House, Mail Box, and a repair vendor that sells every trade goods. 500$. Will sell as fast if not faster than the new longboi. Edit: The Auction House vendor for this one cancel scans everything for you automatically
It's a lot more time saving if you do crafting, and if you forgot to buy stuff and you're at the raid or dungeon... there was always someone "I forgot to get my flasks in the mail".
I got the mount without even blinking. Convenience is king. It is really interesting to hear you Devolore. Super articulated and clear in your thought process. Thank you!
I always said the followers in the garrison should have been our alts. I remember telling Orlando Salvatore on Twitter that the same should be done for follower dungeon, he did reply with eyes, so I have hope even though he moved on lol.
From what I recall of follower dungeons, the only time the followers have actual voice lines is when you right click on them. The directives are just text bubbles, so I think your alts could be used as a cosmetic feature for follower dungeons, but it would absolutely have to only be cosmetic. Your alt gear wouldn’t matter nor would they earn anything. That’s just entitled dreaming.
Question for loremaster, in the index of chronicles vol. 3 is an easter egg called “lil’zoomkin” which doesn’t appear in the book. I did an internet search and didn’t find anything, do you know what this is in reference to?
On the "the value of the mailbox is being overstated" point -- is not much of the value of the mobile AH found in the ability to to cancel >> relist your auctions when they've been undercut, wherever you are? Having a mailbox is an integral part of this flow.
Yeah, I don't think $90 is nothing for most ppl who buy that mount, but it is within their range of spendings with entertainment for the month and I bet a lot of WoW players mostly play WoW (that goest to MMO players in general).
For most adult hobbies, 90 dollars isn't that much. Obviously it's completely subjective though. The issue for me is that it's a store mount and I'm against all store mounts in a game that has a sub fee.
6 months grinding every farm u could imagine to get og brutosaur never ever again and this new mount is better to be honest it is a slap in the face to og bruto farmers
I have no issue with microtransactions (although this isn't very micro). My issue with this Brutosaur is that it is trying to play on FOMO. If it was going to be available in the future then I wouldn't worry if later on I decide I wanted it because I have some available cash for a personal gift or want to fill out my collection. That is the only thing that angers me.
this is my one issue I dont get why have it for a limited time. That is the biggest cash grab feeling thing to me. Besides that if you dont like it then dont get it haha.
Question for you Devolore: I feel there are not many services (AH, repair) that are not on a mount. Do you think they will (or should) eventually make a mount for every service, or should they stop where they have already gone. Example there isn't a bank mount, but there are things like goblin racial, mobile banking guild perk, and the warbank spell that exist already. Would adding mount(s) with these be too far? What about a item upgrade NPC mount. Side food for thought, what if this new Bruto mount had a Black Market AH on it instead of a normal one? Love the content and thank you for your thoughts and efforts.
I hope not. Adding more mounts with these services for RMT is slowly destroying what makes the toys and pets we’ve earned more and more redundant. I remember earning the Argent Squire and getting him his Pony Bridle to let me use Bank, Mailbox, Repair options on him was such a great feeling back in Wrath. Now there’s so many mounts with shops you can just straight up buy with cash.
Great points you make here, devolore. Great video. Point to mention though: Dornogal has an auction house in it. I had to double check because I've never been there, being an original brutosaur owner as well :)
Look. we can talk about it and argue why it is or isn't good or bad or whatever. Regardless of how I feel about it, can we stop calling it a "micro"transaction???? There's nothing MICRO about this transaction. It's a transaction full stop. If you want to be pedantic and talk about it in video game slang, it's a macro-transaction.
The problem with the $90 price tag for one single mount is that in my mind, I compare this to money I would spend on actual full games. Paying $75 gets you a deluxe copy of a whole different game, often with some extra content in the form of seasons or a battle pass. There’s no place where I am doing calculations about WoW gold or tokens in my head for this mount. I suppose I’m just not the target audience nowadays - the tradeskill revamp killed my desire to make any money in-game and sources of gold in the game are stingier than ever. The $28 Diablo transmogs are bad of course, but this WoW mount is on another level. It’s asking for household-level money, not microtransaction-level money. And yes, the added FOMO makes it even worse, there’s no reason for it to only be on sale for three months, that just feels scummy.
Farmed gold fron the start of this expac, bougt 10m worth of tokens at 250k gold a pop, paid 1.5 for mount from game store. Beats the BMAH 10m hunt. Good deal for me. Glad they introduced it. Not entirely happy about the price or the fatct they didnt include the charity bundle in price tho. Plus a lot of the arguments given in the video people who had old longboi benefitted from since BFA. Now its bad because masses have the same access.
Your comment on it not being a big thing made me giggle a bit: ua-cam.com/video/DdWLSBX21PI/v-deo.htmlsi=SJ9Q5X2AFe4wkfpv&t=1024 I can't believe this is WoW today. This world that I loved for so many years as a kid became this aggro capitalistic product. I've been into retail for quite some time now but it has reached a breaking point for me - now I regress to Classic where its mostly, all things considered, clean of this shit. I do feel sorry for what this game became, it breaks my heart as a fan honestly.
I dont think putting an AH in a major city would diminish the value of the brutosaur because there have always been AH in major city since Northrend Dalaran if i recall which required you to be an engineer to access. This mount definetly is a feelsbad for the people who bought the original brutosaur in two ways #1 the mount is unequivocally better in that it allows you not only the AH access but also the mail access. I cant tell you how many times in a raid or in a dungeon someone forgot consumes and asked for an AH mount just to then need to hearth because peoples katy was on CD. and #2 it is much cheaper as stated in the video 2million gold vs 5million at a time when gold value was much higher. #3 it looks cooler everyone knows black and gold is the coolest color combo and it looks sick that its gold plated.
I really dont get the hype behind having a mailbox accessible all the time, you can easily find one almost anywhere or just be an engineer and bam you have a portable mailbox plus all the other engineering goodies, it would of been much more valuable if it had a transmog person or crafting order person.
From someone who refused to pay for the three day early access. This mount was a no Brainerd. The convenience its just to good. Sure blizzard could sell another 90$ or 150$. It would need to be better then the long boi. Maybe in china they can sell the 250$ spectra tiger. I would not buy it. It dosent have any utility. Maybe if it could teleport you anywheres on the map or something crazy i might buy it. As a mount im good.
A while back i asked a question basically asking you if you thought the community would rather have "less good" patches if that meant there were more of them. I think it's an interesting time again to ask something like this again. I've seen a lot of people very disappointed with this patch due to a variety of reasons but most of them come down to people feeling like this patch didn't have enough time before it came out so it was a bit broken and the systems around the anniversary event aren't in a great spot. So here's my question I guess; do you think that it would have been better for WoW players to have received this patch with less content but in a much less broken state?
I hate to sound like a d'** eater but I think it's worth it There's a really bad issue with gold sellers on sites like king boost and leprestore that sells bmah auctions with account sharing/remote access on thoes sites the mount is 1000$ + a perma ban when you get caught. Its worth 90$ and no ban risk.
I didn't sweat the Longboi when it came out, mostly because I actually enjoy the whole ritual of going to the AH. I got original Longboi for 5mil by farming mats and playing AH. Took me a few months, and i was stressing a lot that i won't make that 5mil on time. TBH i would rather pay $90 for new dino than lose 2 months of my life just farming gold. So i think the only reason i could get mad about new Longboi is that he's so easy to get.
I bought this thing without even second guessing the purchase. I'm someone that levels every class in every expansion - so having this means always having movement speed enchants on my characters as i level them and upgrade a piece of gear out in the world. On my main I'd think to stock up on enchants ahead of time, but it's not worth the mental energy to consider such things for alt #12 or whatever. So that QOL alone made this mount worth it.
