When you explain Deadmau5 better than he does himself in a Masterclass...
elowine LEGIT
Well to be fair the pluck was in the masterclass. The other stuff though.. guess it didn't fit into the "intro" kind of class. The polymeter visualization in this vid was really well done!
Dude is introvert, what u expected
ye boi
The dude whose head is missing Exactly. Like he says in the trailer, he isn’t trying to teach you how to be deadmau5, he’s teaching you the basics and details of electronic music production, from which you will be able to develop your own style of production.
This needs to be in the masterclass!
Jerry, hello
yeah, especially the technique to get some cool clap sounds

This makes so much sense as to why his tracks are longer than the average tracks
Dylan actually slapped his own ass to make the claps in the end track
i actually did
That's what Joel did lol

"what we used to call progressive house" THANK YOU
We should go back to calling that prog house, call modern prog house future house, call future house bass house, and merge bass house with electro.
#redistributegenretitles
@@Choinkus Lmfao.
its called melodic progressive house now
@@AlexHMusic Wait, the new style or the old style? They're both melody-focused. Now I'm just more confused. Someone help me, I think I'm having a stroke
I feel fucking old knowing that progressive house just got changed like that
Ty for not being overly sarcastic like almost every other "How to {insert producer name}" video. When I first started producing, the overly sarcastic tone of "how to" narrators would mislead me into believing I should not implement the elements displayed into tracks of my own. I assumed this video would be doing the same, but thankfully I was mistaken. Good stuff, super helpful.
19:32 I need a full version of I Remember like that. Oh my god 😭
Ghost producer *CONFIRMED*
If it came out that Deadmau5 had a ghost producer I think I'd just give up on the entire music industry all together
it definitely came out that deadmau5 is/was a ghost producer. not that he has one though.. that would be the end of dance music
Michael Keefe yeah he produced for Glenn Morrison. Track "Contact" for eg
if you're not joking - no, that's just an alias he used to use
his ghost producer is meowingtons
Someone get Joel to react to this
I was thinking the same thing lol
Alec McDonald yes! He should watch it on a stream :P
Someone needs to tweet it at him
Lol oof
its probably his twitter bot dont take it personally
he's like AcesToAces, but he actually makes the full track

I can never listen to Deadmau5 the same way anymore after that ass clap part 😂
17:08 through 17:38 is my favorite part. That lead is really sick.
Same, its lovely
It takes elements of my favorite dmau5 songs and mixes them. Has the organs of Ghosts N' stuff, the vox of This is the hookHook, and an overall vibe that reminds of a mix of Sofi and the pitchy plucks of Aural Synapse
Should make an extended full version of that alone. Oooor, deadmau5 could complete it lmao.
16:39 - 17:07 is my fave, that arpeggio sounds awesome
I've always aspired to be a dead mammal and now i can finally make my dream come true. Thanks Dylan!
Sjaak woah you're so funny

my english teacher played the veldt after we read the story and she called deadmau5 "dead-mow-five"
Musicjax I call him dead-ma-five
@@dodzik07 i call him deadmau5
Yeah new people lol
Musicjax MINE TOO
Dude i feel so offended, i used to say deadmouse, then my friend corrected me and said it was dead mow 5
i think what makes deadmau'5 tracks so special and good is that he basically has no idea what hes doing. he just has an idea in his head and goes for it, and then more often then not the idea even evolves further while he is playing around with it in his DAW. he doesnt care about music theory, he doesnt care if his patterns are 4 or 8 bars long or whatever. and i can relate to that. because whenever i tried to get into music production myself. the theory often rather frustrates me.
Just shows the genius of Joel. Say what you will but I've loved his music since '07 and every album ever since has given all sorts of different EDM genres and he's always kept me on the edge of my seat. And once I found his SoundCloud, I would check every night after work if posted a sample or song. Even it was the random crazy shit clustered together, I knew it what was just him doing what wanted and what he liked.
Strobe is actually named after the DCAM Strobe synth.
Double whoosh
Fatality
This has to got to be bait
17:00 man how do you make those dubstep sounds?
I think for the bass at the drop you would have a square/sawtooth bass and cut off the low end to get these rich nasty harmonics which works really well. This is the same thing deadmau5 used for the bass in Sofi needs a ladder.
You mean 17:08? God i swear barely anyone on YT knows how to use time stamps.
@@TheDennys21 😐
@@chubbykirby6318 what?
Record a juice/smoothie blender..! :D
this video is prove that deadmau5 is something else than other producers. he involves concepts of music that are learned by university music students and then he still does sound design and packs all this melodic and rythmic masterpieces into one enjoyable song. deadmau5 is by far the most underrated producer of all time imo. and the funniest thing is that even though he dived so deeply into his music the final product he came up with doesnt even sound close to his music xD
Watching this video gave me an even deeper appreciation for all deadmau5's music. I was entertained the whole 20 minutes, good job Dylan!
Finally, I can be dead

Wow the polymeters part was super interesting keep it up and do a FLUME of this kind of videos
lmao i can image Dylan pulling out a CD from a cereal box and making music with it xD
The example at 9:15 is *still* a 4:3 polyrhythm, that example was incorrect
bro the deamau5 masterclass is literally the ad that played before the final track
So I don't know who's the genius here, deadmau5 or the dude who managed to doppelganger him so easy

He's a genius for for coming up with this music, and you are a genius for dissecting it! Great job!
Holy shit man, the amount of effort that went into this video is nuts. Epic video. I'll definitely have to learn more about the Polymeters.
At first I thought that the video is a joke according to the title, but then I was amazed. I love Joel's music, because I always found it interesting that once I start a Mau5 track I can't stop it, and just never get bored of it even though the song is seemingly the same throughout. But now I know, it's the Polymeters! It's not the same as the notes shift and offset making the song ineresting. Plus all the filters of course, just amazing.

Dear Dylan, I've never seen any music tutorial content on youtube as detailed and gently outlined as yours.
I had a such pleasure to watch and listen this so thick and complex tutorial.
Greatest thing is ofc that you have covered so many small tips and tricks, that i never heard on Joels tracks.
You made a nice job!

Looking forward on great content.
Thank you so much.
I can only imagine what it took to make this video. This is exactly the kind of content I was hoping for in his masterclass, but didn't deliver. I've been searching for these answers for years. Incredible, so well made, graphics are the tits. Abundant praise to you and those that helped. Do you happen to know how he filters those voices at the end, especially his signature, "Sometimes things get complicated?"
i like how you showed in the end all the styles you remade.... well done
Man this is the first vid I have ever seen of yours. This was amazing, such talent. Keep it up man.
