Here's a fact:
Deadmau5 got his 4x4=12 album title while on a stream and him doing a calculation incorrectly, the chat then went on to lol at him and him deciding to name the album as such.
yay.
Everyone knows this though.
Lol fr bro wya been at
*me acting like I actually knew when I’m reality I didn’t*
I just thought it was 4x4=12 because there were 12 songs in the album
I just thought it was 4x4=12 because there were 12 songs in the album
I've made this same error and I wonder if it was a neat coincidence or because of the album.

Tommy
"Only one person showed up"
Joel
"Yeah!!"
Whilest thousands would wanna be at that place back then if only you could turn the clock back, but hey it's life
Man, as a huge deadmau5 fan, thank you so much for this. So many people put out articles or videos without doing their research first, but you clearly did your research before putting this together. Really well-edited as always too. Keep it up, would love to see more
Oh my god, I'm in the video during the fucking web dev stuff. Dylan I want 3% royalties on this video because without me Joel wouldn't have brought it up at all. Kappa ;)
Good4Josh yeah bro serious props

"Fact #1" *tells like 96 different facts* "Fact #2"
Sonny is also credited for working on Raise Your Weapon, and Joel thanks him in the album credits of 4X4=12
Sonny only helped with the vocals on Raise Your Weapon
Jesse M. And that was nominated for a Grammy but lost to skrillex XD
@@lordfireriser8125 he helped with the dubstep part
@@jd3455 no, he helped with the vocals only
@@lordfireriser8125 Well he did the dub parts too.
Somewhere in a parallel universe, the greatest synth on the market is called "The Steve"
Tatz Blazinzky that was a minecraft edition :)
FUCK YOUUU
gachiBASS

Mean while... *_R E T I N A_*
and also there's someone called joel zimmerman making a video about 10 facts you didn't know about Dylan Tallchief
that rave hair doe

Deadgoa7
Everybody loves Fruity Squeeze lol
Hello, Mr. Arcade :)

idk man, I use it to automate the Peak filter and it succeeds in this little task
This was extremely fascinating!
Hope you knew these
I was expecting this comment. Also I am with MegaChad3000, if you didn't know these facts already I would be surprised.
tru
where in the world have you been hiding durrant?
Hippo I knew some of this but not some of the more in depth stuff
Should of called it "The Duda" or "The Dude" but calling it "The Steve" just made me burst in laughter...
Very well made vid dude.
really good research! the picture at 15:15 :D. deadmau5 said back then that he left this pic in the locker room or something after bieber handed him this.
Dope. Loved watching the original tutorial and this one right afterwards while chilling back.
Zen World hy daddy zen🙆🙌
So good
I love how all music channels have some sort of connection with each other. It's awesome!
U asshole ...u never listen to my demo in ur Livestream....😠
I remember FL Studio 8 having a loop of Faxing Berlin somewhere in the Packs folder.
Antrasiitti yep definitely the drum loop was definitely in there
Antrasiitti Yeah it had the drum loop and the synth line aswell. It also had some Ozzy Osborne guitar samples. On another note, Logic 9 has the Rihanna - Umbrella drum loop and it came bundled with project files for Lily Allen and stuff
I wish every top 10 was this long, I love how much this was in depth.
dude 11:48 when that beat kicked in and it clicked a city in florida, orlando, i'd legit never heard this story before and that made me laugh so much, been listening to joel for a decade and i've literally only just heard of that, that's hilarious
All these years i thought Deadmau5 had been inspired by the music of that demo from 1996. Notably that detuned melody he used to reproduce on every track.
And now, you reveal to me he was in fact the original music author of that demo back in the day.
Mind blown !
Wait what demo is he supposed to have written music for? I'm confused. All i saw were demo modules by other people in this video.
This man is a genius. Didn't realize how early his career started in music during the 90's
Wow... A City In Florida is one of my favorite tracks of his. What a story!
0:49 bad apple 💙💙
He even had the animation playing, wtf! How
ua-cam.com/video/SDvk3aL78fI/v-deo.html
He's really inspiring made me wanted to start making music
The details omg, I'm amazed by your effort. Good job!
Ok, so as a chiptune fan and tracker user I seriously appreciate how much you did your research on trackers and the demoscene, and I actually screamed internally when you said that Joel started out with IT II, that's awesome.
However, I'd like to clarify that trackers are not necessarily an "early version of DAWs". Yes, they existed before _conventional_ DAWs, but nowadays there are a few (like Renoise) wich are both trackers _and_ Digital Audio Workstations. Trackers have come a long way since the 90s, so I'd rather call them a "different type of sequencer" in relation to a piano roll. It's just that most people get scared by their main UI before even trying them out, so they ended up becoming more of an underground thing.
Someone who actually put good research, nice
This was such a mind blowing video. I've been a hardcore deadmau5 fan for quite some time and there was so much in this video that I didnt even know! Keep it up 👍
14:17 _did vinesauce choose background music for this video_
I thougt i was the only one who noticed xD🤣
Great video, Deasmau5 is not my favorite artist, but it was interesting to find out interesting facts about him!
Ever since the H3 podcast I’ve been looking for that picture of Justin Beiber threatening to kill Joel. So glad i found it
deadmau5 beef is like hippo beef in the tribe discord server.
0:53 hell yeah, Bad Apple, as fresh as always
gut gemacht
These deadmau5 videos are fucking awesome. He's so under appreciated by so many noobs, I hope they come across this and change their minds of how he's a huge pioneer for "edm",
i like your editing style and aesthetics. love how much effort you put into it
I kinda feel like this could have been a really cool hour-long video essay instead of a top ten list
2:20 yo that synth sounds amazing
This is hands down one of the best videos I have seen about Joel!!! Thanks and keep on keeping on brother!!!
Dylan make more of this :0 you have developed so much as a youtuber and i love this!
Dylan is the best top 10 channel host don't @ me
5:38 "Only one guy's shown up!" Wow he was the same guy back then.
Such humble beginnings.
Thank you for the incredible in-depth analysis and demonstration of the different ways that the VST-plugins alter... kick basic.
You really have dug deeper for this video. Love it!
I love the subtle strobe in the background at the start.
Weird, i remember back in 2001, when i had my studio set up in a farm house in Scotland, i also had a mouse problem, it had made a home inside my studio PC and completely destroyed it too. It fried my soundcard and Motherboard with what looked like urine as well as droppings.I didnt find a dead mouse in my PC but one day i opened up my computer to install an extra hardrive, and the mouse literally bolted out of my PC and ran over my lap! I shit myself!!! The mouse lived but my PC died :(
That’s mad!
What up DT !! Great content as always
The effort you put into this video is greatly appreciated.
Pretty awesome video! As a huge deadmau5 fan (I have listened to Deadmau5 since his 4x4=12 album), this made me learn more about him! Thanks!
this video was great. keep up the awesome content!
also we need to mention that Joel was classically Trained. He didn't just throw some melodies together and got lucky. He has a ear for this and he is a perfectionist, he hated his w/2016 album and almost everyone loved it, I liked it but its not my favorite and I did listen to it and felt it has a lot of similarities to other albums instead of being on its own.
I love you for using the scary monsters and nice sprites MIDI version!
sick video dylan, i enjoyed it
LMAO "a city in florida" *orlando* i never knew about that story and that so fucking funny. always just thought nothing of the song name.
love your videos man
Excellent work Dylan! Thank you!
11:49 mark my words, I will find the person who took the time out of their day to make this
Nice video dude! Very nice editing
Absolutely love this. Always had so much appreciation for Joel and his craft
That processed kick gag is the greatest
love these videos!
Woow! This is amazing. ❤️🔥
I can remember talking to deadmau5 in those chat rooms!! A long long time ago!!!
Best deep dive I've sen yet, on the Mau5. Also, great find with the origin of "A city in Florida". I had always wondered about that one.
His first released song is Revenge Of The Egg People remix
Been a fan for 10 years now since Faxing Berlin and indeed there were some facts i never heard of, really well done video.
Amazing video!!! Thanks for the inspiration
one thing I didn't know as much as I love everything he has done for music is he dresssed like those goth dancer kids memes lol
Yo really cool video, good research you did there
How to Dylan Tallchief?
>12:19 lmao proper paperwork, good reference
Great video!
Thank you so much for the video and very well done at the research!
I love his music (and his "unpredictable" mood 😂) . What a mau5 😍
This was very interesting man and I'm not even a fan of his music but you can't lie he's had a interesting life. Keep up the great work man ! Do one on bassnectar
Dude what a video..... really loved this
Amazing video, so well edited and put together. Maybe you could do something similar to this about aphex twin in the future?
A City in Florida is one of the most banging tracks Joel ever made, BTW.
Awesome content man. P.S The "stuck" ending was just on point
I think I'm gonna watch it again
Good stuff, Dylan, my dude.
Idk how you make me chuckle so much but I'm not going to question it much
Cool vid Dylan!
This was dope! Would love to see a video on the reward is cheese / Jelo story!
Great work! I'm a die-hard Deadmau5 fan and I didn't half of the things mentioned in this video!
this video made me love joel even more. such a legend, i could never know as much about music as him, lol.
It happens to me every Friday night 1:11

impulse tracker, demo scene… story of my life. (plus scream tracker, fast tracker, etc). :)
This is a fucking great video, I almost didnt click it because I was expecting the normal top 10 formula. Props
10:00 sounds like his 2012 track Closer!
