For anyone wondering why they don't see 4.1 on the main Blender Download page, the new official release date for Blender 4.1 is March 26th or earlier. The release was delayed for additional bug fixes and optimization.
Is there a competition amongst Blender UA-camrs to see who can talk the fastest and get through the video quickest. Please slow down to give us elderly people a chance to absorb what you are saying as I totally respect what you have to say.
There are definitely two main types of Blender UA-camrs, super fast people who treat all viewers like they are experts and those that structure the videos as though viewers don’t know what Blender even is. It’s annoying either way but pretty hard for content creators to avoid both
@@GreatOutdoors1 I think the issue is more saying two or three word sentences comprised of blender specific terminology that doesn’t really explain anything to non experts, rather than the actual speed of speech. If I tell someone I don’t know what multilevel splattering is and they just repeat the words slower that’s nothing
I've never come across your channel before, but that short looks beautiful. I love the style that uses natural materials. The wood, yarn, clay, etc. Can't wait to see it. Gonna have to go watch your videos now. Always looking for good and fresh tutorials.
@@SouthernShottyActually this video is how I found you. Saw that it was about the 4.1 features and was curious as to what had changed. I'll be back for the shortfilm as well. And definitely gonna spend some time going through your videos as well.
Congratulations on your short film!!! 5 years, wow, it looks incredible! I've been working on my 2D short film for three years now and right now I'm making the storyboards (again, lol!) Your videos are awesome!!!

It's been pushed back until the 19th. I apologize. I checked earlier this week on the wiki and it was still the 14th. Features are locked so the video should remain accurate. Sorry for the early drop 😊
I'm studying 3D recently, and I'm enjoying your tutorial. Please upload a lot in the future. Thank you for the great video. I'll learn and do my best! ^-^
Whoh, there! You really upped your editing game! I'm not a big fan of fast-paced content but this was well-executed! :D Congrats on the short film too!
You always do such a great work on these videos. Must be a massive undertaking. Really how you show new feats off using your own scenes and shots. I like how we can see how certain shots are setup in 3d
Could you please clarify if it's feasible to create a 3D model that appears 2D in Grease Pencil animation? I'm uncertain about character creation. If I opt for tracing or drawing each character pose, how should I handle shading and texturing? Redoing shading for each pose seems time-consuming. Can you provide guidance on a more efficient process? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
I’m actually getting ready to start a UA-cam channel myself that is a documentary that goes behind the scenes showcasing my process behind the scenes, workflow, and everything I’m pouring into this passion project.
all these amazing and complex new features yet no mention of texture painting rip also I'm definitely going to watch your short film when it comes out!
Just find the color in the theme section under preferencesm you can recolor everything you want. Blender also comes with different themes and there folks making them
@@knetto_ have look, I believe blender comes now with 5-6 different styles. Many folks customize it. I believe blender artist forum also has a download section
I'm impressed that you got all this out in under five minutes, but dude! I can't follow what you're saying! How about doing a slowed-down version for those of us who haven't been keeping up since v. 3.0.
Thank you very much for presenting the new features! How do you use the GPU for Open Image Denoise in Blender 4.0.2? I tried ist and it still uses the CPU, have I done something wrong?
There seems to be a big blender artist thread about the smoothing approach. Seems it kinda brakes certain workflow with object instancing. Also wonder why it now needs to be a modifier
Extremely unfortunate change to remove the old functionality instead of adding the modifier as an option. Kinda catastrophic for some workflows, particularly for games. The new right click option is really not a good substitute as it's destructive and overrides manually placed sharp edges and has to be applied whenever any changes are made.
@@joos3D I was trying to read that forum post, it's super super long so didn't go into that rabbit Hole yet. Also have not tested it. Makes me wonder why they did not ad an option to use the modifier but also keep manual changes to sharp edges. Am I correct by thinking this modifier is basically a geometry nodes setup?
@@RomboutVersluijs Sorry I wasn't clear. You should be able to use the modifier and keep manually placed sharp edges. But If you apply modifiers you'll get sharp edges based on the angle, so you can no longer adjust the angle while keeping just your manual sharp edges separately. There are obviously more issues which is why there's a 560 comment thread. I could see addons like HardOps working around the changes by not applying the modifier so maybe it's not a hopeless situation, but it does kinda mess up older projects.
Hello! I'm looking forward to your movie!! I have a question about bokeh, do you do the blur in camera or through compositing? When I render defocus, I have too much noise appearing on denoise. can this be fixed somehow?
Open image denoise, with the gpu is huge for me. I run a Rex 4060 with an old i7 4790. I actually have to increase my passes higher than necessary in order to give my cpu time to cool down from the denoising.
Waiting for texture paint layers =) Literally the only thing keeping me using Substance Painter. I know there's workarounds for that, but when you want a ton of layers it gets very messy.
Does anyone have a link to find 4.0? on the official site it is always 4.1 that launches when I try to download 4.0. It's because of the modification of the smouth, before you could obtain a 100% smouth in one click, this no longer works.
I dont understand why they remove the basic autosmooth to put it in a modifier, its so annoyiiing, especially when you have multiple modifiers on one object , and its slower to add auto smooth now; the only good thing i can think of is that you can now have auto smooth on curve objects, but i already did a GN modifier for that
No Eevee Next? I'll wait for that version then. All the changes sound good, but I'm too novice to make good use of those. Having ray tracing in an engine that works on frames per second instead of seconds/minutes per frame is my big wish. And maybe realtime raytracing in the viewport preview? Wouldn't mind being able to pan around without a blurry vision!
First day First character First animation First rig Modeling Texturing Then check out my free course here on animating the cardboard robot. I have a playlist
I wonder if anyone in the Blender dev team is considering adding dynamic radial menus like Maya. I mean I get that people are used to all the hotkeys, but they just seem like bad hotkeys to me as a Maya user 😅
2:39 that should be on when clicking on the channels in the graph editor instead. 🤦 that's why animating in blender is not as user friendly & fluid as in Maya for example.
SouthernShotty: "So, I am sure you already heard about Eevee Next..." Me, before my screen: "IS IT IN 4.1????" SouthernShotty: "It has been delayed to the next version" Me, before my screen: *Sad toddler screaming*
You have no idea how long I've been waiting for this engine update :c@@SouthernShotty I want to make my future projects all in Eevee for shorter rendering times and the new raytracing would help improving the visual quality so much, especially with emissives casting lights (due to the 128 lamps limit of current Eevee) etc.
