4:06 One solution for the bevel is to have 3 modifiers. The first one is creating the procedural text, the second is the bevel, and the third is the effects in a geometry nodes. I know it isn’t perfect, but it might work.
It works only on few very simple fonts, and not perfectly. This is the reason for me to use some side programs ( CAD ) and export/import good beveled texts.
Ever since I've seen a video where someone was highlighting rotating individual letters in a line of text using geometry nodes, I've been searching for the node that had something to do with 'text' input. Figures the coders and programmers would come up with the term 'string' to hide it from the rest of us who aren't used to the term all that much. It's great that they have input connections to allow the sizing for line, size and such, but why wouldn't they have connectors for choice of font, justification, pivot point so forth, that a resulting group input can be even more customizable. Still, this is amazing. Thanks for sharing your findings!
@@TheDucky3D If you ever find out about a way to transform individual words, that'd be fantastic. There's a thread on Blenderartists about advancements on this area and even a WIP patch, but it's still something basically unresolved.
This is the most important reason to stop me from using Blender for more motion graphics. Generally speaking, Blender lacks the kind of logic that you need to be able to control an effect's progress. In this case, converting string to text is cool, even making the text an array, rotating, bending them, cool. But, when you want to make this happen from nothing to being fully applied by each letter or word. Really hard. In cinema 4D, it's a basic feature.
What I'm struggling with is just a way to link the string value to a python script, so I can populate the string with data from a csv. If anyone has any advice I'd take it with open arms, and thanks ducky for another great tut!
@@kyle-rr4uh The thing is, you need to enter into the Geometry Nodes Editor and find the String to Text node every time you need to change the font and other inputs, instead of being able to change them from the Modifier panel, like with most other modifier settings.
