I just got my pair today and man I have to say these are great. After playing in a pair of zoom freak 5 the night before my knees were in so much pain from fighting against the cushion setup i had to sleep with it elevated. I threw these on this morning and the pain and my limp was gone. One thing I love about them is that the front part doesn’t have a tremendous curve that causes blisters and your toes to feel like they’re on fire. If you’re looking for a slide to wear after playing or exercise do yourself a favor and buy these
@definitely more than hour, honestly I’m wearing them now (with socks) as I type and they still feel bit tight in that section . Maybe it’s because I just got done playing pick up so my feet are a bit swollen but I’d say by tomorrow night the tightness sensation will be gone.
@@bobheyotue9850nice, yeah they are supposed to wear like a supportive sneaker so they also have to break in like one- hope they work well for you in the future
@@FootDoctorZach so far so good man honestly i hope you make a basketball shoe in the future the way you made this slide would be amazing in a mid cut or hi top shoe.
Dr. Zach! been a huge fan/subscriber of yours since the pandemic hit, nothing but great compliments we your audience should give you for such a detailed, dedicated analysis on ALL sorts of athletic footwear. @@FootDoctorZach I don't understand how the X-plate makes the slide come up while you step down, if anything this will make keep it flatter since the the plate is flat. Softer and softer foams are the main reason why I can't wear new running shoes for everyday wear. I need a firm base for my feet to not be in loads of pain. Ironically enough that same idea is why I stay away from sandals

For first run it’s a while but for subsequent it’s faster - we also built these from nothing vs having older models / molds/ factory connections to make it go faster - hope you like them
if a 12 in everything else then 12, if a very high arch/ volume then you can go to a 13 - remember they are 1/4 size up as is so if you order a 12 its really a 12.25
@ Me too. I’m looking forward to giving you a long term review. I’m going on 3 years of almost daily use in my alphabounce slides and they still look and feel new. The bounce foam in the slides is super resilient and the rubberized eva carrier is very durable. Hardly any wear.
@ pretty good so far. The foam is really comfortable and slightly bouncy but not mushy. The band took about 2 weeks to break in but it has molded to my feet pretty well.
Squishy foam remark: that's why I never understood the hype of the full length zoom strobel. As the strobel is stiched into the shoes, the sides are thinner, shallower, so the foot has to adjust all the time, making sorness, etc. And believe me, I don't say this based on some gen Z deluison, I have tons of bball shoes. If full length zoom, the original implemenetation (AJ12, Why not zero 1, old Bron, old Nike shoes, etc) is much better, more stable. But I raise the stake: I was always a Zoom air fan and my foam (Lunarlon, Renew, React etc) cushioned shoes just sat in my wardrobe. I used to be the biggest enemy of drop-in midsoles. But I am heavily overwehight now (5'10" / 235 pounds), and I play basketball very often, so my back hurts frequently. Therefore I tried my drop-in foam cushioned shoes (Kobe 8, 11, Mentality, AJ 2012), I was curious, but based on the "very low to the ground" phrase and feel I wasn't expecting much, or worse than Zoom experience, but to my biggest surprise: my back doesn't hurt at all or not that much anymore after games. So I reconisered my thoughts about zoom units, and I will rather use them fro bball if I will lose some serious weight.
Are these slides durable enough to wear them as a recovery slide during long hikes? I'm planning to do the Fvallräven Classics and looking for a recovery sandal to relax the feet for stretches of the hike and air out the hiking boots.
Bought them last week. Finally came in. They are too small. I goofed. I should have ordered my true to size. I didn’t listen. Most slides run big on me. Anyway, love the feel tho. Love the features that the hell stays with the foot and doesn’t slap. Thanks for that shank on that. Obviously they are a size too small but the top strap was pretty tight. I assume it will be just fine when I get a size 13 in. These will be great.
Yeah definitely go true - the dorsal strap needs broken in anyway so it can hold the midfoot secure while allowing the toes to do their thing so it will appear tight at first but for sure up to your normal size will allow a normal break in
Got the 13 in today and much much better. Now these things feel great. Only had them on for about 30 minutes. Dorsal strap is not really tight barefoot but seeing if there’s any break-in like you mentioned. Barefoot they do make the flapping on the back of the heel noise, but I couldn’t care less because they feel great. Actually, they don’t do much of that.
Just got my pair and these feel amazing, i was expecting them to be more stiff based on your video but they feel very pillowy to me, it does feel like heaven to wear them after a couple of hours of hooping and my knees thanked me the next day. The fit does fit true to size. My only con is that my right foot seems to rub against the strap edge and unfortunately these are not adjustable straps. If you have a high volume forefoot you might have an issue with this. Not sure if we can expect an adjustable strap version in the future. Maybe as the cushion starts bottoming out with time i will have a but more room in the forefoot.
Thanks for the feedback I’m glad you like them! They should break in around that area nicely - takes a minute but it should contour to wear there’s no pressure point
Hi Zach! Congrats on the launch. Very excited to pick these up. Question about sizing though! My foot measurement is 25.5cm which normally translates to a US Size 9, but according to your size chart, I would be a Size 7. Can you please recommend what size I should be getting? Thank you!
Are these good for flat arches? I’ve been wearing some kind of arch support slide whenever I’m not wearing any regular shoes with orthotics because walking barefoot or with regular flat slide will cause arch pain after some time of walking.
Been looking for recovery slides to keep in my bag after tennis but these don't come in M14's. Any recs for slides that come in larger sizes? Thank you!!
Yep these are them- if higher arch/ super high volume then 13- if you are flat footed, not super long feet then a 12- also the fit section gives some more context
Just got a pair that for Christmas! The look amazing but arch over my foot is kinda tight. Will these break in some and give more flex? My feet 2E wide and 28.5cm long. Was a 12 correct?
Yeah I talk about it in the video- they need a few days of walking with a a sock to break the dorsal strap in to mold around your foot- once it does its a custom molded fit
Bought a pair and have been wearing them for a couple of weeks … I can’t seem to break in the top strap… it digs into the top of my foot ( inferior extensor retinaculum area? ) … any suggestions to relieve this painful area would be greatly appreciated…. If I could resolve this issue the recovery sandal would be perfect ! Thanks
Is the material similar to that of Crocs? I had a Crocs sandal before that has two foams similar to the Xen Slide - an outer and middle foam made of two different materials.
Congrats on the project! Super interested to try them out. Unfortunately not viable to import them to Brazil at $290 when accounting for shipping and imports taxes. Could try to ask a friend to bring them from the US. Honest question tho - functionally, what do I get with these that I wouldn’t get with the Hokas (available locally) and vice versa? Pretty big favor to ask someone to fit these in their suitcase these days.
Definitely excited to get a pair of these. I had a quick question, I'm a size 13, but with slides seems like I'd ideally be a 12.5, but have to go with a 12 or 13. Would going down to a size 12 be ideal? I feel slides and their foot lasts are hit or miss, and never really know whether to go with a 12 or 13. The reason I think a 12 may be ideal is because I'm not really dealing with a heel padding or counter that pushes my foot that much further forward.
I would go with 13- the dorsal strap is pretty conforming and tight at first so it will mold to you nicely without the extended break in- the .1 version coming in March you may be able to go 12 because the strap is getting heightened but for these I’d do a 13
I agree with Zach. I mean, of course he is right. He is the designer of the flip-flop. But I bought these in 12. Mainly because every slide I ever put on runs big but I wear a 13 typically. The 12 Was Way too small. I have sent it back and re-ordered to 13. Hoping to get them this week. The slides definitely do not run oversized like most slides.
Hey Mr Zac,I play basketball only indoor and I need a stylish new shoe, I need ankle support in my shoe,I need a good foam because I jump a lot so it has to help me when I land, also lighter is better. What would u advice me? Thank u !
Hey Dr. Zach, how would you compare these to the Hoka Ora? I was looking for another pair for outside and after playing and keep the Hoka for inside the house. Any suggestions or try a pair to make the comparison myself?
Very different feeling- these are more flat to the ground and the foam is a bit more accommodating vs the Hoka. Hoka’s arch is higher, these are a bit more mellow and longer - hokas strap is thinner these are thicker, more dense, longer to break in
Hi, Dr. Zach! I've been following your shoe review videos for quite some time and followed your of the advices on choosing several particular models 🤩 So, super excited to try new Xen slides, however got a bit confused with sizing: I'm usually EU45, which translates to UK10/US11 for most of the shoes, like Nike. Xen sizing says that EU44 are UK11/US12, is confusing. Could you please advices, which Xen size to get to have good fit for typical Nike US11, not wide foot. Thanks in advance!
I wear an 11 in the Nike precision 6. I wear a 12 in my reef thong sandals. What size should I get? I have extra flat feet that are slightly wide at the forefoot.
Going to place my order now. I see Xenon is also geeting ready to release a tennis shoe. Did you have any involvement with that project? If you have what do you think about it as a pickleball shoe?
Usually I don’t use slides, when I’m at home i just walk in my house using only socks. Do you think it would he helpful for my knees to have a pair of those?
@FootDoctorZach i have chronical knee pain and I really don't know what to do to feel better. I tried to go to different doctors and they all say that I can do nothing about it because I have high kneecaps and they are basically scratching my cartilages, so I'm looking for something that could help me to feel better and that's why I asked for these slides

I see they have a channel going the length of the outsole... Must be great for sliding, right???
Is there a purpose for the squared off/angles in the front instead of a traditional curve or is this just design aesthetics?
Mainly design but the overall silhouette is meant to be as stable as possible without it feeling like a clunker
Hey Zach, could you please review the mizuno wave momentum 3. Thank you 🙏
This is some good stuff Zach! I will be snagging a black pair when they drop. Do you have any plans to design a tennis shoe in the future?
Not in the near future unless something comes up
Well there be a clog version?
No plans for it as of now
i was ready to buy but that branding was a deal breaker unfortunately.
Amazing work! Have you played ball in them yet???! 😉
Hoka’s arch is higher, these are a bit more mellow and longer - hokas strap is thinner these are thicker, more dense, longer to break in
Awesome! Size recommendation for men's 10.5, D-width, relatively flat arch? Or will expanded sizes include half increments and I should wait?
You’ll break in a 10 but if you want a ton of room an 11 will just be a hair big - depends if you want low profile or lots of room
@@FootDoctorZach Cool thank you can't wait to snag a pair! Love supporting a fellow Yinzer!!
Hi, Dr.
I have a wide volume, flat feet at 10.5 EE. What's your sizing recommendation Doc?
You could go either way but if it’s me I’d get the 11
@FootDoctorZach Appreciate the time and input Doc. Congratulations btw to you!
Will this be APMA certified/accepted/approved, Doc?
I didn’t submit or pay to have the seal so not unless something else comes up
Have you tried out any Kane Footwear "recovery" shoes/slip ons? If so, any thoughts?
Yeah ive tried theirs and a few other rip offs of them- not really my cup of tea but everyones different
Do a review on Nike off court slide?
I wear an 11 in the Nike precision 6. I wear a 12 in my reef thong sandals. What size should I get? I have extra flat feet that are slightly wide at the forefoot.
I’d say whatever you wear in a sandal would be appropriate - you would break in an 11 I’d bet but do you want to that’s the question
If I'm an 11.5, do I get 11s or 12s? My Crocs are 12's for reference...
12 then
Will larger sizes (15-16) come out in future?
March
Going to place my order now. I see Xenon is also geeting ready to release a tennis shoe. Did you have any involvement with that project? If you have what do you think about it as a pickleball shoe?
Yeah I helped with it but am not financially tied to them- they are platform tennis shoes but work amazing for tennis/ pickle
Usually I don’t use slides, when I’m at home i just walk in my house using only socks. Do you think it would he helpful for my knees to have a pair of those?
IMO yeah but some people like being barefoot so it’s dealers choice
@FootDoctorZach i have chronical knee pain and I really don't know what to do to feel better. I tried to go to different doctors and they all say that I can do nothing about it because I have high kneecaps and they are basically scratching my cartilages, so I'm looking for something that could help me to feel better and that's why I asked for these slides
Any other colors coming down the pipeline? Im gonna order a pair of the greys today
Black/grey, black/black, seafoam/green /purple/lavender
@@FootDoctorZach Black/Black pls
@@FootDoctorZachhopefully they make a tennis court green with a tennis ball green color way . Once I get them and try them on I’m buying some for the family.
I need them in black 🖤😢
GoodDay Zach, please review Lining Badfive 4.5 low. Thanks,
Can you please make it in black
March
Basketball shoes collaboration next? 👀
That would be cool
