The Seekers were an amazing group...and Judith's voice was a standout. May she RIP.
I agree. That voice was unreal. RIP Judith . God Bless You lil lady🙏 Amen 🙏
She might be sadly no longer with us, but that voice will live forever! And wasn't she just SO adorable.
I miss her
Her voice and her smile, both were contagious.
It's sad what the world has become today,,,no one make music like this anymore 😢
Ed Sullivan has that stiff presentation that everyone loves to mock. But Ed Sullivan brought us The Seekers and The Beatles and some of the greatest pop and rock performers that we still love today. Thanks, Ed
So I wonder why we have no one like him introducing new acts now!
Because the times, they were a-changing...
This is beyond spectacular! What a VOICE! What harmonies! Live, no dubbing, no tracks, just talent and joy in their music. Wow, just...wow!
Freaking amazing. No autotune. No lipsynch. No over production. They just stand up and SING... And they're still doing it 50 years later. Amazing group. Amazing people. Amazing pop music phenomenon.
Artemis Gordon It seems as if there is no such ability as standing up and singing anymore. :(
+Artemis Gordon oh God, yes!! Brings me to tears. All accoustic as well.
+Tim Baker You are probably correct....these folks also knew a bit about music / harmony....
+Artemis Gordon They most often referred to themselves as folk and gospel singers.
And no plug in theirs ears! Just pure singing!
Judith’s voice is like a beautiful clear joyous bell.
I remember this show. In those days, everyone watched "The Ed Sullivan Show." I was 14 in 1965. I was struck by Judith's voice and had a bit of a crush on her which has only intensified over the years! I had never heard a voice like that and haven't since! I wish they could and would go on for many years more!
Im right behind you! the best band on the planet, and wow that voice heavenly, nothing came anywhere close to Miss Durham, and certainly never will.
Me too....I cant 109 people thumbed down this....this group was EXCELLENT
What a group they were, absolutely phenomenal ..... Judith Durham is a truly exceptional singer.
Tom Springfield wrote this gorgeous song - Fantastic melody, structure and lyrics. We all focus on Judith's amazing vocal (and rightfully so) but Athol, Keith and Bruce's contribution tend to get overlooked - but their amazing contribution completes the circle that made this song timeless.
What a beautiful Lady & Group. Judith,s voice is amazing!
ilrmbru2b still is.
Judith? Famous name !
This is definitely not lip synched- This is The Seekers! Such a group will never come again!
+multicaruana Ed Sullivan had a Live Only policy on his show.
+LandondeeL Thank you for this information!
Well who's playing the tambourine then? Cause it isn't Judith.
The singing is definitely LIve! Can't say about the backing music.
My guess is that someone near an off-camera mic was playing the tambourine maybe from the orchestra pit below the front of the stage.
One of the best groups ever, Judith is special.
you Know. This is when music was music. Not the shit they cram down your throats today. Genuine Talent. No Tricks, No Au tune, no dubbing. Just the real thing. God I wish I could go back to these times. Remember....When Air was clean and sex was dirty. .>
Bloody hard to find this piece of mind these days with all the divisive crap on TV and other media and masses of people parroting it all. :'(
Lovely song.
I always thought the Seekers were an amazing pop/folk act. Judith had a wonderful voice! RIP, Ms. Durham!
Loved them in the 60s still love them now. Had a crush on Judith back then . They still sound great .
What a band, I love you :) And Judith's voice sounds like an angel.
While Judith Durham was the lead female singer of the Seekers--she was also an accomplished pianist.
dcon56 True. Have a look at their final performance on the BBC in 1967. She is a wonderful pianist.
Did'nt know that!
She also sang with the Sydney Opera.
I always liked this group and Judith's voice Was magnificent . They were sharp and crystal clear what a beautiful time period.
SAW THE SEEKERS MANY TIMES AT THE OLD HIPPODROME THEATRE IN BLACKPOOL, THEY BROUGHT THE HOUSE DOWN EVERY NIGHT, THEY ARE ALL WONDERFUL SINGERS, BUT JUDITH IS SOMETHING SPECIAL , NOT ONLY A GREAT SINGER BUT A TRULY BEAUTIFUL LADY, STILL IN LOVE WITH HER AND I AM NOW 74, I KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN ILL JUDITH, I AM SURE ALL YOUR FANS WILL BE WISHING YOU A SPEEDY RECOVERY, GOD BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC.
REGARDS PETER STANFORD
I've heard that Judith did not consider herself attractive! Um, really?! She was ADORABLE!!!
The wonderful Seekers, who made so many great records during the 1960’s. Judith Durham had such a powerful, haunting and enchanting voice that to my mind she was one of the best female singers of the 60’s! I still love listening to these records. They were a very talented group who didn’t engage in histrionics on stage but let their singing and harmony overwhelm the audience.
Just love how people look happy then while performing...not like today.
Great point!!!!
Before the Bee Gees, Before LRB, Before Air Supply, Before INXS, the Seekers were Australia's first Supergroup on the Ed Sullivan Show.
@incogneto True. Although their earliest recordings, live stage and TV performances were in Australia (and there were plenty of 'em!) It's great to have UA-cam to be able to look and listen to all this old stuff...ya start at say 8pm and suddenly it's 1 am!!!
@incogneto The family emigrated to Australia. They were discovered on an Australian talent show whilst kids.
I never heard the Bee Gees refer to the Seekers as an inspiration, but of course they were very familiar with their works.
Comments make me wonder if downunder people deny Rolf Harris as Australian before he become “metoo” victim...
@@shleung4806 The Bee Gees weren't Australian, they were just raised there ...... they were born in the Isle of Man, and also spent time in Chorlton, Manchester ......... and the same goes for Olivia Newton John, raised in Australia , but actually born in Cambridge, UK.
Listening 5th December 2019 .l grew up with this band. I was 17 in 1965, just started parking with girls iny fj Holden the memories are so vivid
I was 7 years old when I was with my mom Dad and brothers and sister. We were in the balcony of CBS studio in New York seeing this very one. As a kid I didn't know who the seekers were, but boy I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see this show!
Judith's voice is one of the best soprano voices that contemporary music has ever had, and the men also had and still have great voices.
RIP Judith Durham.
The world was a more beautiful place with you in it.
Wow it's been almost 38 years since my wife and I got married, this song was in our wedding. So Happy 38th Anniversary Babe
Judith is adorable and has a wondrous voice--best female voice of the 60's
ONE of the very best. That era produced a number of first-rate female singers.
Beg to differ. Judith has the best female voice of ALL time.
@@michaelvargo2649 She's up there with Maddie Prior and Mary Travers but in a way that is unique to her. I'll Never Find Another You is so fine it can make you cry.
@@michaelvargo2649 here here here and here, forever in my heart, sorry im going to cry, im overcome again !
@@bird10498 Agree.
MILLONES DE HOMBRES DEBEN HABERSE ENAMORADO DE TI, MUJER MARAVILLOSA.
Judith you will be missed what a beautiful talent you were R.I.P. !!!!!!!!!!!
Their manager was too "Euro centric" and did not tour them throughout the U.S. at this critical time.
They were a musical vessel just screaming for hungry creative song writers to write songs especially for their intense music abilities.
This song brings out Judith's strong Bessie Smith influence in parts.
It's weird......I'm not all that crazy about folk music and I absolutely love this band! Thank you so much for uploading these videos.
Judith, I'm devastated to hear you have passed. I loved your music so much!
The best performance of this song. I simply love everything about it.
The seekers were brilliant. I was nine when this performance took place. Brings back fond memories. 👍👍👍
With Judith's beautiful voice and talent no tambourine necessary! :)
But I think she liked her tambourine...
Judith, Mary Treves and petula Clark were the best female singers from 1960s
I fell, hook, line and sinker for Judith/The Seekers, after having watched the film and heard the song "Georgy Girl" in 1966/67.
I seen them play in real life they were the real deal they were awesome great musicians and Judiths Voice was one of a kind that will never be herd again RIP JUDITH
Eu né tinha nascido que quarteto maravilhoso meu nome Marcos Barbosa de Souza faltando de Aparecida de Goiânia
I remember watching this Ed Sullivan show....wow.
Live on stage. My heart is raised up with this song.
I am speechless, they are perfect...
and Judith is the best singer of a band...
What A Great Voice!!!
I Love This Clip... The Ed Sullivan Show Is A BEST PROGRAM That Already Existed That Planet
Que bonito es lo bonito la música del recuerdo .👍👋👋👋👋👋👋👋🌷Felicidades
Australia's most fabulous group and Judith world's best female voice she is beautiful on the outside and inside.
Judith .... awesome voice
Talent in true form
Great find Richard! Sublime stuff from the greatest year of their careers at that point. A wonderful introduction for the US record buying public, shame it didn't carry on after Georgy Girl though.
QUIERA DIOS, QUE ESTAS PERSONAS MARAVILLOSAS HAYAN SIDO MUY FELICES EN LA VIDA, POR TODA LA ALEGRÍA QUE TRANSMITIERON CON SUS VOCES DIVINAS... UN INMENSO ABRAZO PARA ELLOS.
Judith is a sweetheart.
Real music by real talented people. Unlike the useless crap of today by mind numbing so called artists that can't do bugger all with out modern technology.
Oh I want to give a like to EVERYONE who has watched this! You are all so wonderful!! Love Ya!
Live, and in living black-and-white. Judith Durham was simply special. Still is.
Those two who voted this down have no soul between them! Wonderful performance!
As an amateur guitarist, and although I am the first to admit Judith Durham's vocal qualities, I now want to point out the quality of playing a 12 string guitar not just by strumming chords: this performance shows once more that this type of guitar is perfectly suitable for some damn catchy fingerpicking work, a role many musicians tend to reserve for the 6 strings.
You are correct, Keith was the lead guitarist and more often than not chose to use the 12 string guitar over the standard 6. Cheers
I love The Seekers and always will!
If I could only time travel back. I would take Judith to our own world. Unfortunately I was only 12 when she was singing this son.
Voice of a angel rip Judith 😔😔
Judith has such a fantastic voice and style. She is also a fantastic human being.
Before my time but how talented they where.real music
That's a nice looking bass Athol has. I've never seen him use it before. My educated guess is, so that could travel light, he left his own bass in London before flying out to New York, and borrowed one there for the Sullivan show!
Keith is wonderful
Keith seems very amused that Judith is not playing the tambourine. He is definitely holding back his laughter.
Judith as always squeaking with excitement
And a angel walks amongst us
The only Australian band to appear on Ed Sullivan
@Stephen Cary They're British.
@@toomuchinformation They are both.
The best female voice of all time and she is lovely too
I love the way her voice carries the vocals.
Oh yeah, at 17 I can remember jumping up off the couch to get a closer look at the gorgeous little Aussie tambourine player with that dynamite voice. It was about this time that I bought a copy of ''I'll Never Find Another You'' giving my beleaguered parents some welcomed relief from the Stones, Kinks, Yardbirds and Beatles. I love that cute little head bob from side to side as the song ends. I think she captured a few more hearts than she realized.
MUJER ADORABLE.
this may be the only time I remember seeing judiths bare shoulders. I always see her in a long sleeved full length dress. I like it
Watch the song Myra if you want a look
I always think of this song as the natural song to come after "The Carnival is Over", as if a lover during the World War II years goes off to fight the Japanese and his sweetheart worries herself sick over him and if he will return. And one day when she least expects it he comes through the door and now all they want to do is catch up on sorely missed love.
Loved The Seekers ! Even though I was a kid in the 60s .
They had 3 smash hits in the US - I'll Never Find Another You , World of Our Own and Georgie Girl
Judith is an angel. Can't get enough of her.
Amazing U.S. debut, no other place to do it but on the Ed Sullivan Show!!!
Well, I just got the news about Judith's passing. I just didn't expect it. It's a sad day for us all and the end of an era. May God bless her- and thank you , Rich, for all the great videos I never knew existed.
Judith's voice is amazing.
2019 Judith has kept her hairstyle for ever..... nice
Wonderful,thanks for uploading Richard.
Always well done! If I were on Ed Sullivan, I'd be so nervous I'd drop the double bass or forget my note!
Well done!
Me too Michael!
Let's get a million views for this special lady
I remember reading somewhere that Judith Durham did not consider herself very attractive and she did not think men would be attracted to her. I would have told her back then how wrong she was about that. I think any man would have done anything to be with her.
Listening December 3rd 2019
dismissed them in the 60s as too middle of the road etc-what an idiot
@@michaelrobshaw4345, I suspect that there are a lot of people in the same boat.
THE SEEKERS💖👸🕺👬🌟🤩
Great!🎼🎵🎹🎸🎻🎤📀👍👏
From Hong Kong🙋♀️🌏💝🌺🥰
When you've made it to perform on Ed Sullivan, YOU'VE MADE IT!
Crikey, that was brilliant ...... how good is Judith?
Here we go with the is this lip synced or live. Again, all singing was done live on the Ed Sullivan Show, a solid policy. The music may have been prerecorded some of the time for audio quality.
It looks and sounds as though they were actually singing and playing their own instruments (except for Judith's tambourine), but they were being augmented by a studio orchestra somewhere off stage. It was commonly done in those days. Nowadays pop singers don't even pretend to play. They just grab a mike and the music emanates from some backstage synthesizer. Also of course modern singers are filtered through Autotune and other devices to make their voices sound perfect. Plastic, is more like it.
Musicos diferenciales, La voz femenina es impecable y coros sumamente prolijos. Fabulosos
The way music should sound. PURE
YES!
Hi, rich963, I'd really like you to post the clip of "The New Seekers" by singing on The Ed Sullivan Show the songs: Look What They've Done to My Song, Your Song, Baby Face and Beautiful People, in December 13, 1970. Please, Thanks
Keith, (on the left) was drop dead gorrrrgeous!
In the mid 60's my uncle was a HUGE fan of The Seekers , me and my brother loved getting the record deck out and were totally in another "world"...even now at 58 , just AMAZING , such fond memories of my childhood :)
Great find, Richard ! ! Thanks ! !
Such great harmony. So pleasant to listen to.
You can hear every single word she sings
Que pena não sei ler nem escrecer em inglês! Como gostaria de mandar um abraço pra esse conjunto. As músicas deles são lindas gosto demais?
Such a great great great song and group.
