Alot of other channel videos will have titles like these, but really don't get offer anything of real value besides entertainment. This video helped me out, thanks.
Out of all the videos i have watched on explaining how to use jig heads yours is the best by far. You break it down to where its simple & easy to understand i havent finished watching the video and already i feel confident enough to go out and try fishing with jig heads. Thank you for uploading such great content bro.
Thanks. I started saltwater fishing about 3 years ago and I’ve learned a lot off your videos. I’ve watched many others, but yours are on point and uncluttered.
I just started fishing Z-man plastics, and I use gorilla glue to keep the plastic right on the jighead. It worked well, I caught quite a few bass and the rig held up. Others use small zip-ties to keep the plastic on the head, and I did too for a while. The other option is that Z-man does make jigheads for their plastics.
Thank you very much for a great explanation. No one ever explained so beautifully these fishing methods. You are a very nice educator I use to watch your videos.
well i took your advise bud, went to Walmart, bought the jig with white colors as seen at 6:41, and went fishing with friend's boat at Cedar Key in Fl. Man I tell you I caught a lot of ocean trouts with the red and white color jigs. Awesome video and awesome fishing trip.
All your videos are excellent…thanks very much for your work!! When you’re putting your plastic onto the jig head, turn it 90 degrees right before you go over the barb then turn it back to the proper position once you reach the base of the head. That gives the barb more solid material to hook into. Thanks again!!
I'm from STX and I've seen guys pop it high to let the Down South Lure swim down, and bam!!! But with Zman that lure has a lot.of buoyancy so keep it tight. In the marsh reds like that pumpkin H&H grub worm with chartreuse tail at a steady pace. Jig head definitely depends on depth and current. Thanks brother,,, keep up the good work!!!
Great video, just getting into fishing and you answered a lot of questions I had about jigs and lures. Thank you so much for creating this great tutorial video.
For Zman swimbaits and their level of elasticity, I think TWISTING the top onto the holder helps more than just forcefully pushing. I'll twist the top 180° often times and it doesn't tear it up as bad (since it has that crazy elasticity) as you would think or like If you try that with a regular plastic bait.
For the Z-man plastics especially, and just any plastic, I like to use super glue. Put a little bit where the head meets the hook and hold your plastic to it for a couple of seconds so it can dry. It work really well at holding it.
Some things that would’ve really helped for me were what line is good for jigging. Talk more about using or not using a leader. And what pound test on the leader?
If youre in an area where theyre bedded up or actively feeding soft plastics are good but Fishbites or dead bait works best to attract them in if they aren’t right in your location already. The gulp is best of both worlds because its got scent in it vs regular mirrorlure or matrix shad. Fishbites with 3/0 circle hook under a popper cork with flouro leader has been my best for shallow inshore
Nice video. One tip for Z man soft body baits, I use a drop of super glue on the end of the bait which holds the bait to the jig head if you are throwing in heavier current. It doesn’t affect the taste apparently as I catch a fair amount of fish. Plus this holds the body flush against the jig head which maintains the straight line. Hope it helps
You actually demonstrate more accurately how to reel in the jighead where most of the others I have watched do not. I will look at more of your videos. You also use numbers, what size jig to use, the weight and relative size of the jig, the type of soft rubber lure to use and for which fish. Thank you. Thank you.
By far the best content I’ve seen. I’ve learned so much watching your videos. I went from being lost when it comes to ocean fishing to being more confident. Keep up the great work
If your a lead head angler enthusiast its almost a must to have some basic plain jigs and have some Pro TEC powder paint with you. Pro Tec sells a powder paint product that's super simple to use and you can apply the paint heating the lead head with a bic lighter and dunking it in the jar. A bottle of Pro Tec makes up well over 300 small jigs and runs less than 8 bucks a jar. Anglers typically don't know how cheap lead heads are to make and pay outrageous amounts for products.
This is one of the most helpful videos I’ve seen so far, thank you. If I could suggest a next video it would be how to choose a line to leader combo for various types of fishing as well as leader length
@@ADDfishing Not sure I understood the response. I too would be interested in how to rig up the line/leader combo, and how to easily and quickly change from one lure to another.
Excellent tutorial, I have watched other of your “101” in fishing. My feedback is all positive: your message is clear and precise and clear. Question: I had watched another video that bait caster reels + rig can cast further (for surf fishing), is this the case or do you think the spinning reel is good?
Best tip I've ever seen for putting on Zman lures is to hold the hook, and pull the lure basically all the way over the head of the jig, then slide it back into place, which locks the elaztech material onto the seat (the hook holding the lure in place). Since I've been doing it this way, I haven't even had to readjust a lure after strikes - its been a game changer for me
When putting on the rubber baits, put the hook through then turn it 1/4 turn, then push the bait on then turn it back and that locks in those retainers.
When you’re rigging the soft plastic try turning it a quarter turn when putting it over the bump on the jig head then twist back straight after… It will keep the soft plastic from separating from the jig head as much
Do you have a tutorial including the actual setup from start to finish using a paddle tail. From picking the leader length and color. Or also a casting tutorial on them?
Great video. I hope that I can teach people how to use different lures on my channel when I get the confidence to instruct. Keep up the good work and look forward to your next video.
Maybe I should use other lures more often but I fish a lot and almost always use jigs. They just work. Lately I've been experimenting with jig heads with soinner blades and doing well with them in dirty water. The Strike King Trout Magic is good but I order Dr Fish brand from Amazon. They're way cheaper and they work. They work well with Gulp and Z Man tails.
On the man plastic if you push it up to the keeper then pinch the top of the head and pull it over the keeper instead of pushing it they hold really well!
Jeff, nice video. What kind of line do you recommend for this jigs? When I fish around the CBBT piles, the current makes it very difficult. If the line is too thick, there is a lot of resistance and the jig will never hit the bottom. As I told you yesterday, we need to get together....
Informative video. We fish here in Melbourne in approx 5-9m of fast running current. What do you suggest to increase the jig head size which we do but still does not hit bottom? Or we have tried tying a round sinker approx 1M from the jig head to get it to the bottom
Hi great videos.. kindly do suggest me good medium priced rod for soft plastics from 1/8oz onwards to be used mainly with z man plastic lures from shore / wading mainly, if possible on amazon.... thanks much appreciated.
Alot of other channel videos will have titles like these, but really don't get offer anything of real value besides entertainment. This video helped me out, thanks.
Thanks for teaching us instead of just a video of you reeling fish in like most of the other videos on you tube👍

Love finding this video after I was snook fishing under a bridge in downtown Stuart, Fl!
One of the TOP tutorial videos I have watched. Thanks
Best jigging tutorial online. Excellent tips. Well explained, and without attitude. Subscribed.

Wow. An actual explanation of techniques instead of a glorified 10 minute add. Great work
Nice job creating this video, I just started salt water fishing about a month ago. Your videos are very informative, going to try this out tomorrow..

A true “tutorial”. Thx. New to salt water fishing. Most of my luck fishing jigs in freshwater has been vertical fishing
Some things that would’ve really helped for me were what line is good for jigging. Talk more about using or not using a leader. And what pound test on the leader?
Great instructional video! Soft plastics in saltwater has always been a weakness for me. Next time we are in FL we'll try them again.

I started throwing 1/16oz heads after a trip to NC. Very effective over that super shallow grass in the Pamlico Sound for specs.

Finally a video, that's helpful and full of good information. I fish up and down Topsail Beach area. (Keep fish'n keep Boat'n) have fun.

Hi thanks for the vid. Q: do we use a floater and lead sinker in the line when we fish with jigs.
Salt Strong has great videos on rigging the Zman
There is a way you can pierce those hooks in like a texas rig. I recommend trying it over your current straight in and out strategy.
Thanks! I’m trying to learn to fish for reds in SC/GA. Learned a lot
Should I be using a loop knot when jigging?

Very effective. Thank you bro
This is great info man. Thanks.
Thanks for this video. I will keep this in mind when I go back out fishing in a few hours.... or tomorrow.
Dumb question inbound; how many times can/should you use a soft plastic before you need to chuck it?
What’s your line test for this type of fishing?
Awesome man. Good job and good strike. Greeting from Indonesia
Thank you.
how do we fish top water lures ?
This was really comprehensive!
On the man plastic if you push it up to the keeper then pinch the top of the head and pull it over the keeper instead of pushing it they hold really well!
What’s the best type of line for this type of fishing?
I typically fish in the Raritan Bay off the coast of Sandy Hook, NJ - what size jigheads would you recommend when fishing from a boat ?
Jeff, nice video. What kind of line do you recommend for this jigs? When I fish around the CBBT piles, the current makes it very difficult. If the line is too thick, there is a lot of resistance and the jig will never hit the bottom. As I told you yesterday, we need to get together....
