Maynard was once asked why he turns his back to the audience while on stage. "Because I like watching Danny play the drums" was his response.
I don't really understand that. Typically Maynard is standing behind everybody else including Danny so I don't understand how he would be turning his back to the audience if he really wanted to see Danny playing the drums wouldn't he just turn slightly to his left or right?

He holds center stage! Even in concert, even though Im a guitarist my eyes are focused on Danny. Maynard, the lead singer, is behind him just to his right. While Adam (guitar) is usually stage right and Justin (bass guitar) is stage left.

As a drummer myself, Danny is one of the greatest drummers in the world. Starting to teach my 6 year old girl to play drums too. Great reaction and I can see how you young ladies fell into the depth of a great musician Danny Carey.

I'm assuming that since nowadays the drums are some before the lyrics or guitar parts That he's playing to a tick while creating songs then it just becomes memory. His drum parts are the song everything else is added after

@@davidbailey6397 I think he was talking about was talking about shows. I play drums it seems like he often plays whatever the tick was or would have been on his high hat for long stretches and if you took that one rhythm or signature started from beginning to end it would line up

I've seen hundreds of tool reaction videos. This one here has to be one of the best. I don't know if I had more fun watching Danny play or watching both these girls reaction to Danny playing. It's always fun watching someone find new music to them.
Danny Carey is an Octopus Wizard. His time signatures are memorizing. Tool is such an amazing band. Very creative and such an intense sound. He's got so much going on, I don't know how any human can do it. I guess that's it, he's not human.
Being part octopuss is the x-factor. :-D

The part where you both thought he wasn't " doing much" is when he was doing the most, he was simultaneously keeping two to three separate rhythms while keeping 1 the the one with hi hat, probably the challenging part of the song, but I am just glad you young ladies are listing to REAL music.

Love your country! Been several times. Beautiful place. That guy is just the absolute best to ever do it. Sure there are other songs/bands who do even more complicated things here or there. But collectively, every single thing this guy does it a monumental challenge to learn and play. Song after song, all in different time signatures, different tricks. Yet it all sounds like smooth songs. Really amazing. He gets mad respect from pretty much every other drummer in the industry and for good reason. Glad you enjoyed!

You gals are having so much fun! Love it! It is not easy keeping the rhythm when Tool play their music. Most pop songs are a 4/4 whereas Tool (not a "pop" band) they change the beat often and can throw you off.

First of all, the obvious, you girls are beautiful, you with the Levi's shirt have a little resemblance to Salma Hayek and you with the "Girl" shirt have very irresistible lips and your face is so gorgeous I had to save this video in one of my playlists so I can find you faster. Anyways...
