  • We talk a lot about living a healthy and happy lifestyle on this channel. I started thinking this week about abundance vs scarcity and this growth mindset and how this habit is effecting so many of us right now during this time of unknown. I really believe that with this one mindset habit shift, you can truly change your life and learn to live in abundance.

This is probably my favourite video you’ve done. I cried when I watched it. I went back to therapy today and I realised I have the scarcity mindset at the moment which I’m going to change. I needed to see this so much. You’re such an amazing person and to see you share some of your life only makes you more real. 💚

I feel like I live in fear and sadness most of the time. Especially because my mom has schizophrenia. Its really hard for me and my family. However like you said.
I am 23 and sometimes I am thinking- why me?! Shouldn't I be living life to the fullest and have fun?! .... of course I want to have fun and live my life to the fullest, however I am trying to remind myself that this for sure has a deeper meaning and I am becoming a stronger person.
Thank you Carrie, I love you ❤

I wouldn’t wish these struggles on you but I know you will be stronger because of them. This example I’m about to give is not all implying that we are/were going through the same thing... I lost my mom a few years ago. Objectively the worst. I know that anyone close to her has grown a lot as a result of the pain and struggle.

The father figure in my life was abusive, emotionally and sexually, and while that will never be okay, because it happened, I know that I'll never put up with anyone making me feel unsafe in my home again. It helps that I have a mom who loves me to death and always has.

Heads up: super long comment coming. My clinical depression very much wants to push me towards a scarcity mindset. But a little over a year ago I decided to "live for me" - to stop going down the path inertia had laid, and take control of my life. Got a new job, spent literally half my salary paying off debts, and lived like a starving monk in the process. At the outset, I expected the freedom and control that came from paying off debt, but I think the side effect of a frugal minimalistic life has affected me even more. For years, I've wanted to open my own business, and while I think I've got a great concept, I think part of it is to just prove to the world that I could. But now I don't care as much. Part of the quote you posted in your newsletter a few weeks ago says it well "Success isn't about how your life looks to others. It's about how it feels to you".
You asked what I'd do if there were no limitations - I'd move to New Zealand, build a tiny house, and find a job that makes me happy, even if it doesn't pay much, because my expenses will be few. The funny thing is, there isn't really much stopping me from doing it, besides, you know, Covid. For the past decade, my brother has lived abroad; but now he's moved home, and he and his wife are expecting a kid. Most people would be all omg you're going to be an aunt. But if anything, this makes me want to leave more. I feel like I've been set free; I just need to reach out and take it. Easier said than done though.

  • @songbirdetv

I'm absolutely stuck in a scarcity mindset right now. Pre-pandemic, I was the happiest I've ever been. I was working retail and doing photography part time. Somehow, both of those things kept me afloat. I wasn't rolling in money, but I had enough and most importantly I loved both jobs. Then the pandemic hit and I was unemployed. Was still very happy though a little worried about money but very thankful for unemployment benefits to get me through. Now I'm back in the field I was in before my retail job: banking. It's safe, I know it well bc I've now done it for the majority of the last decade. But I'm miserable. I'm making twice as much and somehow still don't have any money for things. I'm constantly wondering whether or not I'll break even. I've begun to accept photography clients again, hopeful that I'll get some joy from them again. I remember being in an abundance mindset the 6 months before covid and now different I felt then, and seeing the abundance in action through continual clients and opportunities. It was incredible. I just don't feel like I can go back safely now since I've got a lot more expenses (I had a wreck in March so I now have a car loan and my insurance doubled in cost). I just feel so stuck. 😞

I absolutely agree that the power within us has a lot to do with our mindset. In 2018 my husband had to leave his job, had a MAJOR back surgery that was brutal. We lost more than half of our income and dealt with so much more. At the same time (during fall) that my husband had his surgery, I decided to go back to school. I was so scared of how much I was stretching myself, but decided that my strength comes from God and that I was gonna do it. I have done great in all my classes (Dean’s List) I’m now three classes away from graduation as a Special Ed teacher. We have learned to live a different life after surgery and make the best out of everything. We are way stronger and smarter than we think. ❤️

I watched one video on a self help topic & I was bombarded with recommendations on others, yours being one of them. I did not know anything about you so I looked through your video history & your IG account. You seem like a nice woman and I realize this is how you make your living, but I find it somewhat perplexing that people who live very charmed lives need to tell the rest of us what to do to make ours better. I am not saying you have not had difficult moments or experiences, but you have had it a lot easier than most. Your "job" has been acting which gave way to your channel which led to many endorsements & new opportunities. Then you met mr. right, got to travel & be a part of his good fortune, got married in the middle of a pandemic when most people had to cancel their weddings, moved to a new country & decided to start your van life/tiny living adventure because once you decide to do anything, you have the money & support to turn it into a reality.
Not everyone has such an existence where they do everything they want. Some people struggle in a minimum wage job, or hit 50 alone because they never found someone to share their life with, or lost their job during the pandemic to where they needed to feed their family from a food pantry to prevent starvation. And let's not even discuss how many people around the world died during this horror. I am sure you mean well & it helps with your views to have these topics to click, on, but just once I would love to hear someone say, "Yes, I was lucky to be born pretty & get the breaks I got which helped me get this life" rather than saying it was your mindset. Just my opinion.

Thanks Carrie! Beautifully explained about the abundance vs scarcity mindset! I believe in abundance and know that the universe is co-creating FOR ME and not against me!

    In love with this video!
I have OCD and health anxiety. It runs in my family. I'm in a natural healing process! I meditate everyday, eat healthy, write gratitude notes, exercise and practice yoga! I like to say that meditation is my medication! Haha❤ and YES! Gratitude IS the key to happiness! It's a daily practice! I think of my OCD as a lesson for something I need to learn, like having more patience, loving myself more, believing in myself, etc! I even say that I'm grateful for my ocd! Because I'm learning how to love myself more, honor my body more, parent my inner child more, have more patience and not give up! So, I totally love this mindset of abundance and gratitude! Always look at the lessons learned! Thanks Carrie ❤👏

Thank you again for a great video. I like to think that I try to maintain an abundance mindset, but where I still struggle a lot is with the passing of my mom. She died 2½ years ago from cancer. Her diagnosis came out of the blue, and looking back, I probably did get more time with her than the prospect showed. But when she passed, I was in no way ready to live my life without my safe harbour, without my person. The grief waves come further apart now, and not as strong but they are there. My family is great, and so is my partner, but knowing I will not be able to find the unconditional love of my mother anywhere else, is my biggest self-limitation in life. I know she will never be there for my wedding, or meet my future children. We will never laugh or cry together again, and I will never feel as safe as I did with her. Navigating life without your harbour can be exhausting, because sometimes, you just need to rest your head in her lap and hear that everything will be okay.

What if you keep doing these and your mindset doesn’t change and self-esteem is so low echoing “you are not good enough”?
