I just got my AR 550 10x12 swimmers cut ATC with full coat and plate carrier I'm 6ft 245lbs in other words I'm not a skinny guy. The ATC goes nicely around the pot belly. I plan on loosing weight but for the time being the plate fits nicely and doesn't dig into my stomach or anything not even when sitting down. I can even shoulder my 12 guage with just enough of the buttstock to get a good cheek weld. And can pull both my arms forward when bringing up a handgun to the ready position. I'm very satisfied with my AR 550 ATC Swimmers cut with full coat and plate carrier package from Spartan Armor. Very happy customer! Keep up the good stuff.
Great job on the video, guys! I have two of Spartan AR550 11"x14" plates, and I can surely tell you that they are beasts! I keep the plate carrier in the trunk of my Lincoln Continental along with my Sig Sauer MPX 2nd gen. Also with the plate carrier are six (6) 30-round mags with handloaded 147gr. JHP ammo that are about 95% max loads. I am always ready to intervene a threat if needed in an active shooter situation. I have 100% confidence in Spartan!
Man I wish I could test a level 3+ against some of the Canadian body armor offering 😩 I would definitely wear spartan armor 3+ instead of what we have for level 3+ in Canada like the Extant armor sold at Ai tactical solutions 😒 I’m pretty sure my level 3+ would fail against the XM193😞
Unfortunetly once we ship them out they would not be able to be upgraded to full coating. In that instance we would either recommand purchasing a spall bag (if the plates are 10x12) or purchasing an additional set of plates (if they are 11x14)
Why are my 550 shooter's cut chest plates labeled as rated at Level III Instead of III+ which I ordered? My side plates are labeled as rated at Level III+. Is it due to the NIJ not having a Level III+ rating? Just wanting clarification is all. (Edit) Thanks for the response to my message on FB. Your representative clarified that they are Level III+ and labeled as Level III because the NIJ doesn't have a Level III+ designation.
The NIJ should be updating their protection levels soon to incorporate a level that accounts for "III+" threats. Until then we have to label our NIJ Certified single curve full coat plates as level III even though they are level III+.
@jessecopeland9728 you must have our AR550 Full Coat (Encapsaloc) Plates. They are NIJ Certified so even though they are Level III+ rated the NIJ does not have that designation under the 01.01.06 Standards. The New Standards have changed this and in the future those plates will be listed RF2. Hope this clears things up.
Unfortunately, we have stopped production on the AR-650 plates. I do not foresee Spartan Armor selling the 650 in the near future. When you break it down into layman terms the "AR" stands for Abrasion Resistant and the following number (500, 550, 650) refers to the Brinell hardness of the steel itself. If you're looking for a higher level of protection, I would suggest our AR550, as it actually has a superior ballistic rating and is able to withstand (2) larger rounds than the AR650 while being only 8-10oz heavier per plate.
Great Question! Everything is the same on the Triple Curve plates as our NIJ Certified AR550 plates curve. Because of those extra curves we would have to have them NIJ Certified Separately. We decided to hold off until the new NIJ Standards are released which we're hoping will be towards the end of the year. Thanks for the question.
Honestly the spall coating if it get shoot at edge well there goes spalling fragments. Honestly the spall coating can still be improved if they also coated the edge/side of the plate not just the front face. Coz the weakness of all plate armor with spall coating are the edge of the plate.

@@SpartanArmorSystemsi just ordered my first kit from yall today cant wait
Plates are awesome. The SA carrier leaves a little to be desired but still very effective.
I have the AR 550s, they fit great in my Crye JPC 2.0 and fit and wear really well.
Which AR500s plates? I wanna rock this same setup

They weigh 11 1/2 pounds each. That's 23 pounds of extra weight. You better be Seals level fit or you ain't wearing these for long.
Just got my steel 500 10×12 shooters cut awesome vest and plates. 🇺🇲💪🏼
@HomeOfTheBRAVE appreciate the order and support. Stay safe out there.
Hey just a question does the advanced triple curve have more strength than single curve?
It's the same strength as our single curve it's more for comfort at fit. Thanks for the question.

Is there any way to send in base coated plates to be upgraded for sprawling coating?

Hes not shooting em?
Are you new to the internet? There are videos of the armor being shot: six years before this video and eight years before your post.
My order has been “awaiting fulfillment “ for over a week now . That’s ridiculous
