For me, these video cards must be repaired, I currently have a GTX Titan X and it works very well, I use it to make renders in Blender, obviously it is a card that is already old but in my country it is very complicated and expensive to migrate to another more modern card and at the moment I am happy with my Gtx Titan X.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 😁 It's nice to see many still have love for these cards.

Lots of older cards from 7-10 years ago stil get driver updates.
The GTX 700, 900 and 1000 series are still great budget finds for 1080p-Minimum or 720p-Medium on games that released in the last 2-5 years.
And HEDT parts definitely warrant lasting longer because of the sheer amounts of VRAM and compute driver features.

Thank you for a good question! As a consumer and gamer, up-to-date hardware is a necessity, but for everyday use (rendering/encoding), a powerful, yet energy effecient card is preferred. I prefer to fix it if it's within my ability, give it to someone who want to attempt a fix, or have it properly recycled so it doesn't end up in a landfill. Precious metals like gold and copper that end up in landfills stay entombed there, and the supply of these materials isn't infinite!
I grew up working on through-hole tech, so I don't have a lot of the bench tools like you've got, but I still dabble in some projects on my home bench. I would love to know what kind of microscope you use, and do you have any other tool recommendations?

You can see upper right of ram chip as well as middle to outside discolored darker shades showing you most used parts burnt into the plastic under the cap

I wonder if it might be better to start by replacing the rear rather than front as the rear chips have no cooling and might be subjected to more thermal stress.

For someone who uses older windows, older cards are the way only. I have a HD7950 and a R9-290X sitting on me waiting for to be repaired.

Holy cow, the first 2-3-4 pin for that memory has really bad condition, not shining like the others.

YES. There was some solder on the pads. As it was on the back I was struggling to clean it as one had I had the hot air and other the iron. 😂. But it has blended well to avoid any shorts.

ohh, it's a TITAN X (Maxwell architecture) not a simple TITAN (Kepler 2.0)

Repair or not depends on what repair cost you charge?

Something like a GTX Titan and other Titan cards may have some collectors value.

Fix older cards give them a new lease on life, no to landfills … That’s the only place they end up. If the owner is willing to pay, why not ey ?
