“Shrouded in Darkness” [Remastered] - A Multi-Halo OST Mini-Medley/Mix

- This video is not monetized, and all pieces used have been trimmed/edited/mixed. Three of the pieces were composed by Martin O'Donnell/Michael Salvatori (of Bungie Studios circa 2001, 2004, and 2007) for Halos CE, 2, and 3 (respectively); two of the pieces were arranged by Paul Lipson/Lennie Moore/Brian Trifton/Brian Lee White/Tom Salta (of 343 Industries circa 2011 and 2014) for Halos CEA and 2A (respectively); and one of the pieces was composed by Joel Corelitz (of 343 Industries circa 2020 for Halo Infinite). I doubt saying these things will stop potential copyright strikes, but it was worth a shot... :P
Alright, that’s another remaster done (and this time, it didn’t take half a year)! As I said in the last remaster, Under Cover of Night was probably my second most wished for remake track for Infinite and lo and behold, we got both of them! As you could imagine based on the timeframe of this medley, I had a much easier time reworking this one than I did the last time. This stems from the fact that I ran into WAY less quality issues when trying to sync up the in game tracks (IGTs). CE and CEA’s loops rarely ever line up properly, but in this case, they did (probably because the Under Cover of Night IGT is consists of two long tracks rather than several loops).
In terms of the layout of this medley, for the most part, it remains unchanged from the original with a couple main exceptions. All this is outlined in the AUP Waveform video which you can find here: • "Shrouded in Darkness"...

Under cover of Night, I’ve always loved this piece ever since I first heard it. I love how you bring all of the halo games together in this magnificent mashup.
The beginning is Master Chief's finale theme, his wild west confrontation music, walking up to the showdown having survived what no one else could

Awesome - been waiting for this! Under Cover of Night has to be one of my favourite tracks from all of Halo, so glad it came back in Infinite

I’ve definitely considered doing something with the Halo theme / warthog run, but I’ve avoided it because I know it would turn into a massive project. There’s so many good versions of the theme, that I don’t know where I would draw the line to include them.

Yes I do use Audacity! In terms of the actual audio quality, I (nowadays) try to use the in-game versions of the soundtrack as much as possible (they’re typically not as compressed as OST versions). As for actual mixing, I’ve been meaning to do behind-the-scenes Audacity timeline views for my videos, but I keep putting it off (if I ever get to it, I’ll shoot a link here).
Anyway, good luck with your own stuff!

Overall, I loved it!
Gameplay-wise, there are some gripes I have with it (lack of set pieces, environment diversity, and individual level replay value being my main examples), but I had a blast going through it and completing all the side objectives. The open world setting has a lot of potential that I hope 343 capitalizes on a bit better in future story expansions.

How do you mean?
If you mean the original track by itself, I didn’t feel it was necessary for this mix. It and the anniversary version line up (musically) very well so for all the parts that include the original, I kept the anniversary version overlaid.

Reach and the battle of sanghlios... idk how to spell it
I’ve always felt that the Sanghelios tracks had a very Reach feel to them. Might take a look! :)
I'd emphasize on doing a centric extended version of the start (the one from H3).
Unfortunately there aren’t many pieces to work with for that part. The most it could be extended by is one section.
