- Hope you guys enjoy this one. It’s been 2 long years since the borders closed. In this episode, the OBC boys head across the border to Malaysia for our first overseas ride of the year. As it turns out, we have been spoilt by the tarmac at home. We find out what a proper weekend route should be like. Stay till the end to find out why tubeless is king. This shall be the beginning of many more overseas cycling adventures.
Check out the route we did: / strava

bro i love your group and the rides such a unique route every time
Glad you think so!
I love your videos and the View was super Nice Capture. Can I have the Title Background Muzic?
Your videos are quickly becoming my most anticipated each week. Keep up the great work!
That is a really nice compliment to hear :)
Kulai, Pekan Nanas, JB coastal highway to Legoland are connected. You can try these loops. Also, I had the same problem with you, a stapler was struck on my GP5KSTR, the sealant only did a temporary job, another few more rides it'll just burst out again. My advice is to use a yellow/ black tyre patch and patch up the internal wall of the tyre. Don't use puncture plug/ bacon strip to fill the void. Cheers
Shall do that, thanks!
It's a good video except In minute 8.05 that guy on the right seems to throw away a plastic bottle with orange cap just like that.. 🚮 🚯
And the litterbug just threw the plastic bottle away by the side of the road during the first tyre repair.
What a grub.
What a tool he is
another great video and ride!. love the humour and tips !! keep it up !
What handlebar bag would Julian recommend for his bike?
Hi Winston, I am from Singapore as well and I am keen to join you all for a ride in the near future. Is it possible?
Looks like the roads are of good quality in Malaysia.
yet another great cycling vlog from the man for a great weekend ahead..
btw, this would make a nice Thai style commercial (if you know what i mean) for transitioning from clinchers to tubeless.
wah julian so leng 🤙🏼
Of course
Man!! Your group is really cool love it. Wish i have a group like that. ❤❤❤ Keep it up and ride safe always!
Enjoy you first ride across the causeway, sending my support bro
Would you say the road's in JB and Singapore are risky for solo cyclists? Love your video honestly and am watching it because I am hoping to do the same.
Yes I think the roads are safe for solo cyclists. Group size only serves to increase visibility which can be improved with proper bike lights. I don't think accidents typically happen because drivers *didn't see* the cyclist, more likely driver was drunk (if it was a group, everyone would've equally been taken out together), or either driver/cyclist made an unexpected move related to impatience or recklessness. Therefore it is important to always ride defensively first and foremost .
@@thewinsty Thanks man! Really appreciate it!
cool.. awesome post
Love those country roads. Nice adventure.
Good boys..Happy cycling...Selamat beaktivitas..
Hi there! Great video, just had some newbie questions. Does it take long to get through customs at the checkpoint? Or must one get there super early in the morning to avoid the crowds?
may i know what is the model/brand for the handlebar bag......thank you
Good stuff bro.. new subscriber from Malaysia
BROS HAVE A SAFE RIDE TAKE CARE
This is why I love tubeless man. Just relax while others change tubes hehe
How does it work for tubeless if there’s a puncture? Don’t quite understand what he meant the sealant does the work. Sorry newbie here.
The sealant in the tyre cavity just seals the puncture. HEALED!
@@thewinsty with a little bit of magic too!
Hey there. I plan to ride across the causeway to Singapore in the middle of November for the first time. Is there a time of the day - on a Thursday - that has less traffic? I'll be starting my ride from Taman Sentosa and looking at your strava routes, looks like the Tebrau Highway is the way to go? When clearing the Malaysian passport control, do I join the motorcyclists? What about at the Singapore side? Thanks!
Perhaps you can consider leaving around 5am, early in the morning is when we normally cross the border. Both borders - you have to use the motorcycle lane (manual counter, not automated ones).
@@thewinsty Thanks for responding! Would the early morning ride to Singapore during a weekday - Thursday - put me along with many who are crossing the causeway for work/school?
Yes that will likely be the case. Maybe then you have either leave even earlier or around 7 after the peak hour? But it’ll be hot by then
@@thewinsty I think I will be OK with the heat - I hope - as long as I am not stuck in horrific traffic with impatient motorists.
Wonderful ride in Malaysia... good job bro, nice sharing 👍👍👍 Hope u always in good day 😀😀😀
Tubeless is king! Long live tubeless!
do you think malaysia is dangerous or more dangerous to cycle at than sg
haha asking as I wanna go mallaysia one dqy
Personally I don’t think so, it is not more dangerous
@@thewinsty ohh okay thanks! i wld prob cycle to malaysia one day with friends
Nice. How long do u top up your sealant

8:08 Or horr🫣
Notty boy
hi I'm from Batam Indonesia, can i get the GPX file for this route? may be next month i will try to cycling in Johor
Hi, you can find it in my Strava in description
Fantastic. Question, how do you guys pass the customs? is it through the motorbike lane or car lane? or is there a special for bicycle lane?
We use the motorbike lane counter 1, it is for both bicycles and motorcycles
great job guys :)
Awesome ride across the borders. Great shared bro.
i like your group and music. Nice nice!
Great info's , would like to join you guys for a ride some day
Hi bro! What camera are you using to shoot your cycling vids?
GoPro Hero 9
May I know how often need to change the sealant if I cycle 100km per week 🤔
Maybe 6 months can top up 15-20ml per tyre? Usually I don’t change, just top up
Hello are there any key differences or things to note when cycling on road in malaysia as compared to sinngapore
Fewer traffic lights
More potholes!
May not be as conducive for 2 abreast, in my own experience because there are road shoulders and cars expect you to use it
Can I ask you guys ? (1) Do you need a police permit to ride across the bridge from Singapore to Malaysia ? (2) In Malaysia, are you allow to use the Highway before getting into sub major road ?
Hi Frank, no need any permit just your passport and use motorcycle lane. Depends on what you mean by highway, people use the terms interchangeably so it can be misleading. Same as Singapore I don’t think you can go on expressway in Malaysia eg North South Highway. If you’re referring to “highway” like those with traffic lights eg Tebrau Highway, then yes allowed.
In Malaysia technically all tolled and closed roads do not allow cyclists. Example would be north south hw.
Nice ride to Malaysia!
Can you post your distance, average speed and watts please?
Strava link is in the description
8:06 Come on dude, do not litter
Love it! Thanks for sharing! Possible to share the Strava route? Thanks!
Strava link is in the description :)
Hello. How do you mount your gopro on your bike and how do you pan to different angles? Is your mounting rotatable or you do it manually via hand?
Hahaha I don't use a mount :)
@@thewinsty Ok lol
