  • In this episode, Oscar (@longaguu) and I ride the Samoeng (extended) loop which we thought would be manageable and done within 4 hours. We were so wrong. It was one of the toughest rides of my life. The climbs were steep, long and relentless with not much opportunity for recovery. The both of us were extremely battered by the end.
    Check out the route we did: / strava

    The Ace Pro's low-light capabilities and amazing FlowState stabilisation makes it an ideal action camera for filming cycling videos. I particularly appreciate the fast interface, strong battery life and ability to cancel recording on the go.

    Great videos, I just came back from Chiang Mai. Once you get to know the place, there is amazing routes of any flavour you want. Plus some of the best cafe stops as well. I can go pretty much anywhere in the northern hemisphere winter but I go back to CNX, it gets better and better the more you know. Keep up the great content.

    Good going! Great vlog showing what cyclists go through. We suffer, then we suffer some more. But at the finish, we smile and laugh. We will always look back to these experiences as fond memories. Enjoy the rest of your time in CM.

    I'm astounded you did the Samoeng Loop in the heat. The last climb is the absolute worst and I hit it at 10am right before the heat really turned on. Kudos for grinding up that with a 30T at the back. Brutal stuff and I probably would have walked if I didnt have the 34.
    Edit : I was running a 34 in the front and 34 at the back. It really helped make the ride more enjoyable with almost zero suffering until those final switchbacks.

      We absolutely underestimated the course for sure! And of course my idea of a cycling holiday is not to live the Singapore cycling lifestyle of waking up at ungodly hours hahaha. We woke up at 10am that day, paid the price for it

    Video/pics usually don't show how hard a climb is but the angle near the switchback was good enough. I have some mates here who live in CM for few months and return back to Vietnam when the burning seasons starts there.

    Thanks for the video take along! Camera works very well!! You folks from Singapore handle heat very well. When my wife & I ride Chiang Mai or Nan we start just after sunrise so we can be done by lunch😉 I agree Samoeng is very hard we only went in thru Mae Rim side to Scenic outlook & back.. that was hard for me at 66 years old hahah Hey BTW: @ 454 in the video that small bottle of coconut water...Next time try that same brand but with the Blue Cap...Both are pure coconut water but try the Blue Cap it is called Nam Hom as it is young coconuts & has a slightly better smell/taste to many. Thanks again I really enjoyed it 🙏

    20 - 30% humidity in Chiang Mai? You guys must be quite fortunate. That's even lower than their typically lowest humidity of about 50% in March. I remember going there in October and it was quite warm and humid (for us PNW folks here in the US).

    Great video and awesome you guys finished that crazy climb! I noticed you have a lab71. I am considering the lab71 and SL8. Curious if you had experience with the SL8 and what would you recommend.

    • @thewinsty
      @thewinsty  5 місяців тому +1

      I only have experience with the SL7. If money is no object and you want a nice looking bike go with the SL8. If looking at the LAB71 appeals to you more then go for that. I find the LAB71 more comfortable. If you are wondering which is faster then it depends on who is riding which.

    you guys had under estimate the heat temperature in Thailand especially in the afternoon from 1~4pm, this is not the hotest period in Thai. I had rode in Thailand in May which temperature was 42°c and above I was burned out of strength and stamina just over 3hours under hot sun, that was the first time I ever felt falling off if I were to contiune the riding. To me Singapore hotest weather is nothing comparing to Thailand.

    • @tovinpoh
      @tovinpoh 5 місяців тому +1

      @@thewinsty best cycling period in Thailand is from Nov~Feb, certain province may still have more raining days during December. Go Issan province starting from Chiang Kong along the mekong river will have less mountain route with more straight flat road also very very few traffic light over few hundreds of km.
