The saddest thing is that they had tried to do the right thing. They'd paid for a dog trainer and were given the advice that they should hang their dog because she was trying to be dominant and it was the way to train her out of that. I'm sure that absolute a***hole told them it didn't hurt her. At least they were smart enough to eventually realise that the trainer was a hack and get a real trainer to help them.

Our family dog is very leash reactive to other dogs too while out on a walk. He doesn’t bite or get agressive at all, he just barks and lunges towards dogs across the street knowing he can’t get to them. For 4 years we have been struggling with this leash reactiveness but never tried clicker training. And seeing how it went for this dog shows how perfect it is for leash training. We’re going to try these tips asap!
Let me know how it goes.
That is amazing of you! I`d also recommend to book at least one hour with a trainer so he can explain it properly to you. Clicker training is all about timing and you will not necessarily learn that in a YT video. Good luck :)
I understand how mad people are, but often these “solutions” are advertised to people who are exhausted from trying to connect with their dog. I think they hoped she would do better and hopefully stop being reactive. They didn’t WANT to hurt her but im really glad they’ve changed and learned how to train

They did say they were told to do this by another trainer to do that. It was what they were told to do by someone they believed was what they are meant to do. It ain't right but they aren't the only ones at fault when told that was the "right way". You can't but think about the choking part. You have to take I to the facts on what they said when asked where they picked the idea from. And they said they went to a trainer and they said to do it.

@WeeStrom CO Guy I wonder if that dog can be picked up without collar now
Facts.
I absolutely love Victoria’s methods in training, each dog is unique & she tells the owners how it is but she doesn’t judge them she just corrects them.
Before we got our first puppy, a Boxer puppy we did lots of research & had a professional trainer come to our house, we didn’t want to set our puppy up to fail. We didn’t know what we were doing we had never owned a big dog the professional trainer was amazing she trained us so then we could train our puppy our Boxer is now 8 years old & our training has never stoped we now have added a staffy & another Boxer to the mix & we have used the same training methods that we do with our very first puppy, so now we have a 8 year old Boxer a 5 year old Staffy & a 3 year old Boxer & they are all thriving.
People really need to realise a dogs training never stops, training from the day you get your dog sets it up for life not doing the right thing by our dogs is just unfair to the dog we should alway set our dogs up to thrive.
I'm glad they actually looked for help cause this dog had/has so much to give given a chance, I love the way she looks and one can only imagine the suffering of missing an eye.

Just think about if the roles were switched. Would you like a chain around your neck and it being tugged hard as it could when you get happy, sad, scared, angered or anything like that? This show should be killed off or get the dogs taken
Reagan your comment made no sense.
Just a random Dog lover lmao i cant even read it and it's been 2 minutes of trying
It's a TV show, honestly they could just be showing the more "favorable" scenes when the dog is behaving, but on their walk they legit switched collars to a martingale, which I 100% support since it'll prevent the dog from escaping its collar and getting loose, I personally wouldn't have used a choke chain either, I would first start on a martingale using positive reinforcement than slowly add in a prong, or if the dog was ok with it put it on in the beginning. The training method you use really depends on the dog. Each dog is different and can learn in different ways, but I'm a balanced trainer and fully support the PROPER, and I mean PROPER use of tools on dogs.
Just a random Dog lover how does Reagan’s comment make no sense? it make’s perfect sense, I’ll just get to the point. What Reagan is trying to say is the dog’s should get a better home.
Many years ago, I had a dog who was extremely leash reactive and pulled so hard that I had severe pain in my knees. A local trainer suggested that I use a choke chain to get things under control, and I naively followed his advice. One day, he pulled so hard that I think he may have briefly passed out. I threw the chain out when I got back home. I felt horrible. When he passed away, I begged for his forgiveness. All of my current animals are trained with force free methods and empathy as a guiding philosophy.
Notice how Princess's attitude changed almost immediately once they got rid of the collar. Any other bad reaction after that was more out of habit and was actually really easy for her to unlearn. Almost all of their problems were because of that collar.

People are scared of a 5 pound dog. Imagine how the dog feels, being choked for breathing AND being smaller than everything.
With only 1 working eye as well😡
@@amandawestcott6628 Even that!
I will say that small dogs can still be dangerous. I agree with everything else you said though.
So true

Why did it take 6 years for them to get the training to help their dog? That's just insane.
Can we real quick pay some attention to the fact that a “professional” TOLD these people to use the choke collar????
*prong* collars aren’t bad when used correctly, it was used incorrectly in this video but prong collars can be used for corrections
My dog had a collar like that but if it depended where you attached the leash whether it tightened or not, even then it was only used when crossing roads so she wouldn't pull too far away. As long as she stayed close enough to be safe it was fine. She never passed out, bit or even fussed over the collar
@@Swaggiest_Swaggster in another video she said even when used correctly they're bad
There are tons of trainers out there doing outdated techniques.
Aleigh Grubb they aren’t even using a prong collar though it’s literally a choke collar
