- The Good Home Threshold bars come with pretty much no explanation on how to fit. This video will explain how you do.
UPDATE - see updated video on full fitting here. • Good Home Threshold ba...
Thanks so much for the useful video, it saved us a lot of time.
Thanks mate you made this so easy to do!
Cheers mate. I couldn't make head nor tail of the 'instructions' that came with the threshold bar. You've explained it so it seems simple, even for me!
Thank you - very helpful
Thanks a million. I am nearly 60 and never knew this. I have now successfully fitted 3 door bars... Properly. 👍👍
Well done Graham!
Thank you 👍
Thanks for the explanation tips, I too found the labelling almost useless, thanks for clearing it up!
My pleasure, thanks for your message.
exactly what I was looking for, thanks
Thank you your a star.
Well finally fitted door bar, not sure i should have done what i did, i cut the plastic screw down to just over an inch as i was unsure of any pipe work underneath[old house] seems to have grabbed and taken, many thanks for the advice
If it’s long enough to grab hold you are all good. 👍🏻 nice one.
Many thanks for this. very useful
Literally got two of these today glad I watched this now was scratching my head at the poor instructions on the back haha
Good luck, pleasure. Let us know how you got on.
So what are the extra little black squares/blocks for in the pack? At each side of the screws.
Many thanks for the video. 👍
i,ve just bought one from b&q and i,m now worried about fitting it, having watched your video on how to fit ,which is quite informative but should i at some stage wish to remove it how do i go about it?, i,m thinking of counter sinking three screw holes on the threshold bar and using screws instead, painting/staining them as close as possible after , would that work?
Hi Martin, no with them being plastic push fit as such, you could pry the bar out without too much trouble. I think it would look a lot better than drilling holes in the bar and adding screws. Plus a lot more work for you. Good luck 👍🏻
@@diytipstricks1749 thanks for your answer, going to try and fit it tomorrow, your way
@@martinharris5621 good luck, let us know how you got on.
Cheers mate, much appreciated.👍
Thanks mate
well actually, can you do a vid where you do show how its fitted?
Hi Matthew, I’m afraid only after I had fitted and sealed it, I thought about doing a video. Whilst it is an after thought, I thought it would be still helpful to at least talk you through the process.
hi, i wonder if i could cut off some of the plastic screw thereby not having to drill a 50mm deep hole. i am concerned about pipes and electrics. Eddie
Hi Eddie, Cant see that being a problem as long as they aren't too short to bite into the ground.
If I remember correctly you get 4 plastic screws? If so experiment with 1, as 3 would be enough to hold it down anyway.
The threshold bar itself has adhesive on the back too to help keep it down.
Hope that helps.
thanks,
Mark
Hey, thanks for that. I'm looking to buy these myself but all of them are over 90cm wide and my door is 76cm wide. Am I alright just cutting it myself?
Hi Hussain, Yes had to do the same myself. Its metal underneath the covering so a hacksaw is prob best. I used a mitre block too so its straight. good luck
Did you install this into floor boards? It says drill a hole 50mm deep but obvs floor boards are less. Just wondering about how well those plastic bits will hold.
Hi James, the plastic push fit screws will hold fine I would say, drill through floorboard using 6mm drill it then push in. (Check for pipes or electric before drilling) The underside of the bar is sticky too, so will give extra hold to it.
My floor was concrete so a little different but process the same. Cheers and good luck. 👍🏻
Thank for Sharing
As there is no instructions on it
Thanks Sanjay, hope it was of use. 👍🏻
Thanks for the info. Can't believe they sell something with such poor instructions. (Actually I can, it's B&Q) Anyway, your video confirmed my theory. I assume I just hacksaw to size and try not to stick the glue to myself then try to blindly push the plastic bits into holes I can't see and wait till the whole thing snaps off in a few weeks time.
Dolce and harmonia flooring?
Hi John, it’s Colours Dolce Natural Walnut.
Instructions for this item are not very helpful so I turned to You Tube. Your description is more helpful but I would have liked to have seen an actual demonstration of what to do as I am not a DIY enthusiast and need step by step instructions. L.O.L.
Hi Eileen, as I mentioned, I only thought of doing a video after I had fitted it. However, watch this space soon as there will be a new video of me fitting another one step by step. Thanks
Same
My tradesman used wood glue to stick them down. 🧐
Gosh! Thanks for this. B&Q instructions truly awful.
