How easy are these things to lift again afterwards? We are relaying laminate now but the carpet on the other side won't get renewed for 6 months or so. Previous thresholds have just been laminated paper board(?) and may be pulled out once or twice but with some risk of disintegration. This one has an aluminium bar, so it comes down more to the durability vs grip of the plastic studs.
Hi there, I would say not easy to lift up and replace again. I think I would recommend not putting in the plastic nails at this point and using silicone to secure it down. Then you can lift it and fit properly when carpet and laminate down ? Thanks
I appreciate your video thanks. Question... How would you install it when one surface is higher than the other. Surely the screws won't angle the strip?
Hi Jonathan, apologies for not getting back sooner. If the angle is slight like between carpet and laminate, it would work. For larger differences this is not the product for that.
I’m running laminate throughout my downstairs and have bought these strips for end profile use. So, front door, patio door …into concrete floor. I cannot understand the instructions. Please can you do a video talking me through that. It does say they have three uses…end profile, transition to different floor materials and different floor levels
Hi, I’m sorry for super late reply on this, notifications weren’t coming through. To answer your question when it comes to front door and patio door, I would prob not colour coordinate with the flooring. If you have white skirtings and white doors, I would use a pvc trim or white scotia to cover the gap. The finish in my opinion always looks better that way.
Do you have to leave a 10mm gap between the middle of the threshold bar and the wood on laminate flooring? I'm about to lay my floor, but am not sure if the threshold bar will have an effect on the expansion and contraction. Many thanks!
Thanks so much for your informative video, it really helped to confirm my guess work. The instructions supplied were pretty rubbish and too small to read!
Any tips for installing this where one side is laminate and the other is a large door frame threshold (almost like a plank of wood). Not sure whether to sit this on top of the laminate and the existing wooden doorway threshold or more over the laminate and just touching the edge of the door threshold
Hi Jack, if I understand you correctly there’s no way to establish 1 level between the new laminate floor and the existing threshold. If so, my initial thought is to install the floor as close as possible to the existing threshold and colour match caulk/seal up to it. Avoids the need for 2 thresholds and if colour matched, will blend in. This is presuming the floor is laid well and the planks terminate in the same place across the doorway. Hope that helps, good luck!
@@diytipstricks1749 unfortunately the ‘professional’ that laid the laminate left a fair big gap, so we got the b&q threshold to try to cover it. Hoping to try the drill method and see if that makes a difference. We want to install a door but at the moment the laminate slightly sits up so we need it pinned down to stop the door scratching. So annoying but you never know with some tradesmen until it’s done! 😠
Thanks for the video. I've just started installing one of these and the instructions are not very good at all. A couple of points I'd like to add - On the plastic sprue that has the fixing "screws" there is also a depth gauge so you can check the holes are deep enough before inserting the screws. There are also some other plastic pieces which are designed to be slid onto the strip in between the screws. These are presumably designed to support the edge in between the screws and can be cut to length to suit the thickness of flooring.
Fantastic. Cheers pal. You have just saved me from a major meltdown.
Thank you - very helpful. I would never have worked all that out from the lousy destructions! ;-)
Couldn't have done it without ya mate.
I’m glad we’re all here for the same reason 😂 Perfect video!
Well demonstrated.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
All the best.
Take care,
Steve 👍👍
Cheers Steve
Thanks. Purchased these but couldn't quite follow the instructions. Your video helped me finish the job perfectly!
Thanks so much. Just fitted one of these after following your instructions and it looks perfect. Really helpful video.
Fitted two of these earlier today. Thanks for the video pal, you helped make it an easy job.
Great video, really helpful!
Got one of these that comes with Rawl Plugs.. same method but instead of lining up with holes you line up to the plugs.
Excellent video, mate! Iv got 5 doorways to do now. Subscribed!
Fantastic video. Thanks for your help 😊
Such a great help! Thanks so much.
@B&Q hire this guy for tutorials as your instructions with the product are terrible!
Thank you, helped me solve this riddle today.
great demonstration.
I like to think I’m quite handy with DIY but the instructions on the tiny packaging were rubbish! Thanks for your video!
Great tutorial, thanks mate 👍
Thanks dude.
Great help! 👍
Thank you!
When drilling into concrete is there any need to plug it? Or just straight in?
thanks for this
Your the man I did IT 😆 thank you
Nice one Colin, glad it helped. Merry Christmas. 👍🏻
Great help this video was - What are the four small blocks for that come with the rods? Thank you.
Hi, sorry didn’t see this comment. Did you figure it out. The blocks are nothing, part of the plastic being printed I guess.
Thank you😊
You are welcome!
Sorted. Ty😮 i was begonning to think i wqs thick asnot every picture tells the truth ol. 😂😂

Hi, sorry for super late reply, I’m sure it’s been fitted many months ago but I would place it equally between the 2 surfaces.

Of course if you can lift the door frame threshold then you could replace it with the one you’ve bought.

If connecting to wood floor either side can you just stick it on?
Absolutely, just not sure it would stay fixed if caught by heel of a shoe, kids etc.
@@diytipstricks1749 👍
Is it the same for concrete floor.
Hi Paul, yes it is. 6mm drill bit into concrete floor. 👍🏻
@@diytipstricks1749 many thanks.

Thanks Steve for adding this, hadn’t really spotted the plastic support bits. 👍🏻
Can you share a link for the screws please
Hi, do you mean the plastic screws? If so they only come with the threshold bar itself.
They dont look very robust.. sadly ive got to install three of them..
Good luck Chris!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
the instructions on these are beyond difficult to understand. such a awful product
