Chances are that you wondering if Khlong Toei Slum is safe or not. Well, I can't give you all the answers - but, I can tell you that I walked through this place for countless hours in the day as well as in the night. Zero problems happened. I never felt out of place or threatened in any way.

Do slums like this have crime? Absolutely. Can bad things happen? Absolutely. Was it foolish to enter and explore? Not at all. Places like this are FULL of kind people. The only danger is being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Being unlucky has a lot to do with something bad happening to a tourist. Most people, like anywhere in the world, are kind-hearted people.
Bangkok is absolutely safe. Unlike Kuala Lumpur where I came from, snatch theft is very unheard of. People are generally friendly but KOSHER or halal food is very scarce
I've walked around there at night also and I didn't feel threatened only from dogs but you still should be careful. Philippines the people are very opportunistic hence the big smiles. I should add - in any country, 'don't loiter' - if you do it gives people time to think about you and a situation may evolve, keep on the move.

- Hmmm, SE Asia it like...Huge. Can you narrow it down to a country? 🙃 I have only traveled to Vietnam, Philippines, and Thailand...and Cambodia for 45 minutes for a visa run lol.

They may just look at strangers. But not scary Absolute burglary Thailand is definitely safer than many countries in ASEAN
