I absolutely agreeing with getting rid of unmatching socks overall BUT I highly recommend keeping a few as nail polish removers! I hate buying disposable cotton pads to remove nail polish and old socks actually take off the nail polish way better! Hopefully this tip comes in handy for others.
I use mine for polishing the wooden furniture, glass and for treating our leather couch. and then you can just throw it away or you can reuse them for that purpose again if they are still in a good shape . 😄
Omg socks! When I had two teenager boys and a husband in my house I had a huge “one day I will find the match” bag. Now I live alone I still have a few.
A tip for electronic wires : I label them with tape/washi-tape and write what it is for so it's easier to use the right one or get rid of some others you don't need anymore.
☀️ Hey, Elin. I've actually decluttered some garment buttons recently, and, same as you usually do with the daily mail, I immediately toss those ad flyers in the trash. 😁
Some garments already do this, but you can also sew the extra buttons on the inside of the garment, that way it’s not cluttering up a drawer, and if you do lose a button, it’s right there. And for t shirts! My friend’s mom made a quilt of them. So many t shirts turn into one, and then it can be used daily as a throw blanket on a couch or whatnot.
Panty hose that are still in packaging that you haven't worn in over a decade. I started labeling my chargers for what they go to with blue painter's tape
Okay I have a life hack (also very zero waste) when it comes to single socks. Put them *together* in mismatched pairs. Then you have another pair of socks. This is especially good with things like my husband's work socks because nobody will see them and they get holes so fast. If they are my more *fashionable* socks I just make sure to pair them with complementary colours.
I put the single sock in the sock drawer so when one sock in a pair get lost or cant be worn any more there is always a spare sock to make a pair again.
For clothes, I have what I call the 'bye-bye bag'... Anything I no longer want/need goes in the bag at the bottom of my closet & when the bag is full, it goes bye-bye, as in off to goodwill.
These are all good recommendations. I appreciate a well-done video like this one with realistic suggestions: I'm now going to go through my kitchen gadgets!! I have a very bulky airfryer that I've barely used in 4 years thinking "Well, I might use it one day." LOL! ❤
I find empty bins perfect for children. Children can make beds for their dolls or garage for their cars/trucks 😁 or table for their teddy bears. I never get rid of those. I have max 4-5 so I have 2 spare boxes and children have 3 for their play time😀
Very soothing video. Not as complicated as others. I loved the old coffee beans comment 😊 I have a bag of Starbucks coffee taking up space on my fridge door, probably expired. I kept it "in case" I run out of coffee, or a visitor liked Starbucks coffee. I must be the only human who doesn't like Starbucks coffee. It's bitter. I don't even like it at the coffeeshop. I do like Dunkin donuts. So, I usually have at least one backup Folgers in my cupboard. I should toss it, but I felt guilty because I only used it twice, bought on sale. I found that and the "where did these chargers come from funny, I just put a bag of chargers in my linen closet when I uncluttered my desk drawers thinking"maybe I'll find what these go to some day " (not!). Funny. A bag of old chargers...... you should do a video specifically on decluttering clothes. I mean my single sock bag isn't as big as yours, but........ Thanks! 🏠
I have a huge bag of unmatched socks. Have found a few lost mates in my son's drawer. Oh my gosh, this bag has been around for years. I just want it to go now! now!!!
One of my sisters did have her medical doctor tell her meds don't actually expire - they remain just as effective - but expiration dates are put on them so they manufacturers can make more money - because people throw them out and buy again - far sooner than if they knew they were still good. This is what my sister told me. I haven't no idea if it's factual - but I would not be surprised if it is. Great video all around!
Medications due have a shelf life. Certain meds can cause harm to the body if they are several years old. Antibiotics need to be all taken as prescribed or the infection may not be resolved. You would not give a child meds or any person with expired medications and wonder if they are affective. I was a med nurse in a hospital and safety is number one priority.
I keep a “sock box” by dryer…NO singletons allowed in drawers. I put loner socks into the sock box on the right and occasionally pull on the older ones on the left for dusting, makeup removal, … whatever. It works well
You can use the old coffee beans to make your vacuum smell better when you’re vacuuming. I just throw a handful of beans in my vacuum bag and voilà smells like coffee instead of dust when you vacuum.
The memory tshirts!!!!! I have SUCH a hard time with those - do you have any suggestions to help physically keep the memories of them, but then be able to get rid if them? I don't really think I have photos of when I did wear them
If you sew or know someone who sews, you can make the shirts into a "memory quilt" I plan on doing this for my daughter to take with her to college, a quilt of her theater shows and team jerseys.
I mix my not so yummy coffee beans with beans that i absolutely love...like a 4:1 ratio. That way, I don't feel so wasteful and it doesn't really affect the flavor.
Agree many are good for years past the date …you can usually find out the true shelf life by googling. Some can be very useful in case of emergency or if you’re traveling. ❤
Yes, the old socks are extreme. Get rid of them. I always strive to throw trash out as soon as possible. If I could afford to get different clothes after removing old clothes and replace with better ones, I would but for me it's unrealistic. Feel slight guilt getting rid of gifts that aren't wanted but it's going to be better if it's not there.
Instead of throwing out your odd socks just wear them, so what you wear odd socks, or you can use them for other things, OHHHH MY GODYOU WEAR ODD SOCKS , yea so what,

Me to do some house cleaning
This video felt way less attack-y than some of the others I've watched in my overwhelmed state. Thank you.
Odd socks make great dusters.
The kids use them on dry erase boards as an eraser. Perfect idea from their teachers!
Love this! I'll do that!
Love this! I'll do that!
@@mylifesings-mariaklingshei1786 Smart!!
@@mylifesings-mariaklingshei1786 genius!😊
I love seeing your calm home. It is very inspiring!
Omg socks! When I had two teenager boys and a husband in my house I had a huge “one day I will find the match” bag. Now I live alone I still have a few.
OMG! Old dog toys and coffee beans! That's me! Throwing them out now!😂
Glad I had saved buttons. Needed one for a coat when lost one.
You look radiant! Great tips, especially the junk mail…maybe mail could be its own video for some of us 😊
A tip for electronic wires : I label them with tape/washi-tape and write what it is for so it's easier to use the right one or get rid of some others you don't need anymore.
I’m glad I’m not the only one with a bag of single socks!
☀️ Hey, Elin. I've actually decluttered some garment buttons recently, and, same as you usually do with the daily mail, I immediately toss those ad flyers in the trash. 😁
Love it!
Perfect timing to see this video as I am about to start my decluttering project that I've started nth amount of times.
So glad! Good luck!! :)
Great video! I now have more ideas of what to declutter

Love these ideas!!
The quilt is such a good idea!
I do this all the time! Usually before I cut the tags off. Really helpful.
Panty hose that are still in packaging that you haven't worn in over a decade. I started labeling my chargers for what they go to with blue painter's tape
I have two separate kinds of socks. Black ankle socks and beige socks for slip on shoes. That way I don’t have mismatched ones!
Colours are fun though 🐠
Great idea

Aw, thanks!
Gotta love a good sock mystery:)
My husband cracks up I call those "widowed socks." 😂
omg! I have a bag of unmatched socks tooo! 😂😂

Great video Elin. 💕
Excellent advice. I am subscribing to your channel now. Great job!

All meds not being used or expired should be returned to a pharmacy and not flushed down the toilet or thrown in the bin /trash.
Hi,Elin great video ❤

Seems simple but actually really insightful and clear.
Lynn here l love your videos!!
I brought my husband all of the same socks so problem solved. 😂
Haha brilliant! 😂

wear them often- to work out etc - i find using them is fun and is also the #1 way to stop them being clutter
My nephews have asked me to make tshirt quilts from their old shirts. I don’t enjoy making them, but they enjoy having them!
old t shirts make good cleaning cloths.
I do keep a little bit of extra coffee for recipes.
If you keep coffee beans in washroom, they make the air fresh
I don't even bring the mail circulars into the house. They go right into the recycling bin.
I found myself saying NOOOO about some of the categories especially the empty bins😂
I mix my not so yummy coffee beans with beans that i absolutely love...like a 4:1 ratio. That way, I don't feel so wasteful and it doesn't really affect the flavor.
What to do with costume jewelry and real that were myparents? Trouble letting go? Ty for info
🌸 Elin
I decluttered 5 blouses tonight...drum roll❤
👏👏👏
It feelgood when i declutter.I can actually can find things better and not trip over stuff or cant find things.
Ahahaha oh snap guilty of keeping the unloved coffee 😅
Great tips thank you. Do you mind sharing where you got the lovely off the shoulder sweater from please?
I think it was from “Vici”!
Anytime I DECLUTTER I feel better.
The lonely sock looked sad
Haha! It did!
medicine is usually longer ok then the experation date. And its not a good thing putting in the landfil....
Agree many are good for years past the date …you can usually find out the true shelf life by googling. Some can be very useful in case of emergency or if you’re traveling. ❤
I'm trying to declutter 1/2a of land, 2 houses, 2 barns. I'm overwhelmed. Baby of baby steps. With a standing disability it's rough
Oh Yes ! 😂

I'd like to put EVERYTHING INTO LANDFILL!!!!
I would keep my buttons or even see them to ur clothes so there always there
Take socks fold together, before u throw in hamper.
I want to keep just seven days of clothes to wear and get new item if needed.
Medication is required to put expiration
However its still ok
I've donated items in a storage bin that I no longer wanted. This way, I wont refill the bin.
Fear of lack.
People make quilts out of old tee-shirts!
But the ultimate question here is ...where do the missing socks goooo ??? 🤔🤔😭😭😭🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
It should be answered in the show Unsolved Mysteries 😅
Yes! Where do they hide????
Don't put it down, put it away (even when away is the trash.)
Sock with no match = cleaning rag.
😂
Instead of throwing out your odd socks just wear them, so what you wear odd socks, or you can use them for other things,
OHHHH MY GODYOU WEAR ODD SOCKS , yea so what,
are you serious
