Tim Duncan really was an anchor of stability. I think his leadership and patience is very underrated. Those 2 attributes allowed the Spurs to be great during his whole entire career. It also allowed the Spurs to take risks when it came to developing young players.

Duncan should be on the GOAT conversation. Aside from Mike, he had a "perfect" career and led a dominating dynasty. Yeah he had the best coach and solid teammates but still he is one of the best spur ever.
Honestly I think it’s because Tim is such a quiet and humble guy. If he was more flashy and took a lot of 3s then everyone would call him the GOAT. I mean look at his resume. (5x Champion, 3x Finals MVP, 2x MVP & 15x All Star) ⬛️🐐⬜️
@@awc6007 yeah it was also because he's boring to watch but the one he doesn't lack is consistency. He will rarely give you a highlight reel but he will give you points and the wins.
That’s a hard sell. He’s a great player and he played better in the big moments- but in a game of great big men he’s nowhere near the top. The problem I had with Timmy, he never settled on a position- was he a Center or was he a Forward? Depending on the matchup he could position at both, and that is where he would defer- which I knocked him for. So he’s the greatest? Why didn’t he guard Hakeem, Ewing, Shaq, or even Sabonis or Vladi? Well because Timmy was soft- and he didn’t bang. Then, you would often see him float to the 5 when great 4s of his era would match up: the Webbers, the Dirks, and the Garnetts… players, imho, far more transcendent. So it’s a tough pill for me to say, Tim Duncan- greatest player in NBA history when honestly I can’t say he’s the greatest 4 or 😂😂5?! Kidding me?
