Your knowledge is shown by your explanation of the engines, no stutters, no hesitations. If you get a DD15 (or any DD for that matter) try to stick with a GHG14 or newer (emissions level), that’ll be mid 13’s and up. They don’t use the crappy air operated DEF system that has more issues than the GHG14 setup.
TAT Express Inc. hey Adam this is David , Wendy’s husband. Apparently I’m using her UA-cam acct sorry for the confusion. I’d like to get your email and set up an appointment to bring the tractor by if y’all can give it a good inspection and let me know what I’m looking at, I make runs down to Venus Tx so it would be no problem to stop in.
That’s really cool, gives anyone a basic knowledge of what a dd15 consists of. I have an oil leak at the front of the engine, any videos on how to replace front gasket?
Juanca A there is no front cover on the DD15 (all gears would be located on the back) however, it is very common for the rocker housing gasket to go flat and eventually dry, cracking it and expelling oil outward. Another thing to consider could possibly be the front main seal.
Where I work we have at least a 500 Mercedes engines. Two different bhp. Never had one stripped ever.. We don't even like taking engines out. some are 7 years old.. No leaks apart from plastic sump cracking on webs
Hey, i really appreciate your free will to give us knowledge about these types of engine, i have decided to specialize in reparation of DD-15 which now are also found in MB Actros mp 4 euro 5, but as usual european are serfish to share knowledge freely, i would like if i can get more of your course to empower myself in terms this knowledge, and what does it demand to get these course, are you guys have video training course to sell? Or do you offer any hands-on training at your place, whatever you offer am ready to proceed, thank i be happy to get your response.
Has DD done any analysis on the o ring problem? Will the adition of a bypass filter rectify the issue? Would keeping the TAL (total acid level) below a certain threshold work? What's the labor cost to replace the o rings?
I remember in a video you said isx would be more expensive to rebuild but dd15 had twin cam right so would that not make it more expensive to rebuild? what engine would you rather have the isx 15 or the dd15? I was also wondering can you get an ecm extended wire so you can relocate the computer? and you also said that they have went away from the vgt type turbo? are they now using a regular turbo or did i misunderstand ? thanks for the great videos
I don’t want to keep dealing with expensive emissions systems issues, so if I were to get a full delete on a DD15, do you think it’s still a good engine?🤔
Here in africa we have a lot of cases of aftertreatment issues with these DD-15 in MB Actros mp4, i would appreciate if we can cooperate on how to get the rid of them.
DD 15 came in with a broken accessory belt wrapped around behind fan .It ripped the 2 wire harness going to front block coolant sensor up to fuel rail plug 3 inches before that .Engine sputters on start up ,but then after 5 secs engine idles very good .Plugged in lap top engine coolant sensor indicates overheating or probing pins .And yes I swamp wiring to see if any difference. But its regular wiring ,can this cause any difference in resistance or can farther wiring close to fuel rail cause sputtering on start up
If you’re doing just pads they’re cake work. Need to see if you have Bendix or Meritor as they’re slightly different, not a huge difference but a little different.
Ahh damn we had a truck in our shop throw a rod through the block. So we got a brand new dd15 with no accessories on it and now my job (as a third year apprentice) is to pull the engine from the tractor take all accessories from it, install them on the new engine then install the new engine back in the truck... We are mainly a hydraulic shop so this is gonna be a big job.

@@aggabus turned out great, and yes it got a new head as well, had to put cams and injectors in the head though (all new) took me about 2 and a half weeks from start to finish. Yes. They are more powerful than Series 60. Only thing is components in Series 60 are more durable. So you should see overhaul/ rebuild in DD15 at 1.2 million vs Series 60 1.5 million with scheduled maintenance of course.
