Audrey Assad is an American-Syrian singer-songwriter who since the start of her career has released 6 studio albums and 4 EPs. She is also the author of the blog 'The Violet Fields' which explores topics such as consciousness and creativity.
Audrey spoke about her childhood growing up in a fundamentalist Christian community and subsequent conversion to Catholicism, her career as a musician and the role music has played in her life, and her public deconstruction from the Christian faith.

I have only recently discovered her beautiful music. I’m so sorry that she has has apparently lost her way. This stuff she is saying makes no sense. “So then faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” These are dark days. I pray she finds her way back.❤️
I too love The Inheritance album and have been brought to tears multiple times by it. She has an ethereal and Angelic quality to her voice that is rare. I am sad to see her slipping into some sort of worldly pantheism. It all sounds pretty, but at the base of it there is nothing there. Hope she finds her way back to the gospel.
I think is just exploring her faith and got lost in the process, the world is too big to grasp it, the way she was talking about “deconstruction”, “institutions”, etc make me believe that is is paying attention to some kind of extreme leftist ideas that got her confused…these ideologies got the right questions but terrible answers to all of them. As long as she believes in god she will come back to us …bless her and her soul

I am so happy to see us joining in encouragement for this woman’s soul. Please don’t turn away- either from her music or God. That’s exactly what the enemy wants- to bring confusion among us and tear down believers’ faith through these stories. In fact seeing this made me more eager to pray because the enemy is working HARD! 1 Peter 5:8-9. Lord help us to stay on guard and pray pray pray. Her songs were birthed by the Holy Spirit. I see no reason why Christians have to stop listening to them. We should pray for her because clearly the enemy has deceived her. He always comes against those who are serving the Lord God.

Everything that she listed as reasons to leave her faith are all things I have thought or felt but they never changed my belief in God. Then when she said she was “coached” away from that, that’s exactly what happens. Wow.
This makes me so sad. The spirit moves in me everytime I hear one of her songs. I was so shocked to see that she is falling into to this. 😭

this is New Ageism (ATHEISM). I pray that God/Holy Spirit will heal her soul. Whatever wounded her soul, to cause her to deny the truth that she once (purported) to believe, needs to be purged.
There are so many hormones in our drinking water now that even fishes organs in the river change from soaking in all that crap. I wonder if they might come from the birth control pills or from the meat we eat. They inject antibiotics to animals that are not even sick... Money is really controlling our world and money is from the DEVIL.

It’s incredibly brave of Audrey to do the difficult work of rethinking her deeply-held beliefs, and to do it so publicly.

She chose her feelings and experience. Her view. How she looks at them. She is relying on her own understanding. She decided to trust her feelings over the word of God. When you doubt, choose not to believe what is written. Have faith in the word of God. Not your measly 40+ years of life. Peon brains we have. She made her own religion based off of her peon brain and experience.

Jesus is the "whole thing" she seeks yet misses by a mile while immersed in word salad. Let her come to the truth. She is certainly blessed by talent.

Don't take that posture. Instead pray for her. Sometimes we need to go through a journey to find out we really can't do it on our own and that we need a relationship with Jesus not religion
Don’t worry be happy, God is Love and Love wins in the end. She is like a lost child that seems to be in many of us. she is an artist who did well for awhile until she got to Nashville, and then decided to stop trusting in Jesus, it happens to all those who flip around from one religion to another. They are searching, and in the end, like I said, love conquers, even if it’s on death bed. But love will conquer... and God is Love.

I don't think this is true. If those songs were composed by her, she must have had a great relationship with God BUT, as much as it may seem wrong, I firmly believe we can be unborn if we stop being grateful for what we are. Falling off on the side of the road as Jesus said.... A lot more people will lose faith in the coming months because the Devil wants their soul knowing that the end is near. Now that she fell away from God's Grace and Love, yes definitely she doesn't have a relationship with God BUT does that mean she NEVER had a relationship? I don't believe that. I think this is a lie from the enemy. Don't get deceived: I did all these things for you Lord (I was borned again, I performed miracles in your name, etc - No one can do these things and NOT be saved) but things can change otherwise Jesus would have never said: Depart from me you doing of inequity. I never knew you. Keep running until the end of the race because as the rabbit, we (turtoises that we are or rabbits), we might end up losing the race in the end. These are crazy takes… as believers maybe you (not saying “we” because this doesn’t particularly pertain to me) should question why you are 1 following a person (your own words) and 2 what is so scary about someone going through the process of figuring out what they believe and why… as Christians WE can be really crazy
Sometimes people expect that feelings need to be there in order to believe or have faith. Doubt is essential to genuine faith. Believing she is finite is important to understanding who we are. So many people want to put God in a box and when they move away from it perhaps they are coming closer to him. Ad majorem Dei gloriam.

The Lord will bring her back . No one cannot be snatch away from Gods love. She’s in a journey.
The Lord will not force her back or change her heart, one willingly has to come back into the fold for it to be genuine.
I hope she goes back. My point is if she’s a child of God, the Holy Spirit will not force but may gently invite her back. It’s her call to get back
By the way, the Bible says in 1st John 2:19, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us." According to this scripture you were never really saved. You may have gone to church, and handed out tracks, and worn a cross, but you weren't really saved. This is NOT my opinion but God's word.
If you were talking about some other youtuber's opinion, then you could say, "Well, I think..." But we are talking about the ETERNAL, ALL-POWERFUL, CREATOR of the universe. Who says, "Can the gods of the other nations (religions) tell you the future? No! They are mere lifeless idols." But I..." and then He proceeds to give us over one thousand prophecies in the Bible to demonstrate that God's word can be trusted. He also adds over one hundred scientific facts in scripture in all fields of science that were written down, thousands of years BEFORE the great scientists of the world would discover them. For example, up to a few hundred years ago surgeons used to wash their hands in basins of water, until they discovered it became a bowl of germs. They started using running water. The Bible instructed the use of running water thousands of years earlier. Soldiers used to die from disease, until they finally figured out to do their toilet business outside the camp. The Bible thousands of years before this, instructed the Israeli soldiers to take a small shovel outside the camp and bury their waste. Doctors used to drain blood (blood-letting) from sick patients, but thousands of years ago the Bible said, the life is in the blood. It wasn't until a couple hundred years ago, that oceanographers discovered mountains rising off the ocean floor, but the Bible thousands of years ago spoke of these mountains. The Bible says, "It is God who spreads out the stars." Astrophysicists now say the very fabric of space is spreading out taking the galaxies along for the ride. Up until about five hundred years ago, astronomers thought there was about 4,000-5,000 stars. But the Bible in Genesis compares the number of stars to the grains of sand along the seashore. Astronomers now say there are at least twice as many stars as sand on all the beaches of the world. Albert Einstein in his paper on relativity stated that matter, energy, space and time itself all had a beginning. But thousands of years earlier in Genesis chapter one the Bible says, "In the beginning (a reference to time having a beginning) God created the earth (matter) the heavens (space) and said let there be light (energy). I don't want to make this so long people won't read it, but you can go any Christian bookstore and find books on the hundreds and hundreds of fulfilled prophecies, in the Bible. There were 256 totally fulfilled prophecies concerning the birth, life, ministry, and death of Christ alone. So, God in HIS word has told of science thousands of years in advance of it being discovered by the great scientific minds of the world, He has spoken prophetic utterances that have come true, over and over again, in a literal, not metaphorical sense, again, to demonstrate His authority. He is God, we are His creation. This is His world, His universe. He is sovereign. Look, it's a great deal; surrender to His only means of forgiving our sins and reconciling ourselves to HIM, Christ dying on the cross, and reap eternal life, eternal peace, eternal health, and eternal joy. OR reject His offer of pardon and receive your just punishment. I choose Jesus Christ.

You are created in the image of God. That's what you are. You are so so so much bigger than your participation in the cosmos. You are above nature. You are. You are an heir with Christ, and you are called to rule and reign in love. You are not a blade of grass. You are a conscious being called to steward that blade of grass, and all of the created world. You will judge angels. You are one with Christ. You are more than non-conscious realities.
They look up to God and wonder why they can't see, without looking down to see that their standing in the palm of His hand.

She has done what the Bible warns us about, "Lean not on your own understanding." We CANNOT truly understand or even comprehend the entirety of what is going on. Someday however, the shadows will be lit up and God will explain the details. Until then we must walk by faith.
Questioning institutions and organizations and traditions seems just fine to me....but Christ transcends all of those things. As a Christian, i most assuredly see Gods presence in a blade of grass and His Spirit in every breath I take- there's nothing unchristian in that. I really feel this deconstruction stuff is more about people deconstricting what they think the Christian faith is than what Christian faith actually is. The Source, existence, the I AM, the eternal, the Christ, He transcends all our religious conventions and descriptions

The reason it is happening so often now is ALL over the Scritpures "...For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine" and "Because of the multiplication of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold. But the one who perseveres to the end will be saved."

I am all for questioning and looking into what you believe and why you believe. What’s interesting though is if in fact you have come to a place where you deny the gospel, then why keep all the songs and material up? You still profit off of what you claim to not believe.
Don’t get me wrong, I love her worship music. It’s some of the best. It’s incredible so I hope she never takes it down. But I always found it interesting to keep it up in the midst of what you claim to believe? Maybe because that was the reason you were created? And this is your best material ever. And therefore it’s timeless and of so much value. You have millions of views on that compared to your new stuff. All very interesting to me.
All things aside I’m deeply grateful for Audrey’s time writing and singing worship music. It’s been profoundly impactful for literally millions. So I pray she sees the beauty in what she once sang and I also pray the church takes note.
Don’t be dogmatic over things the Bible is not dogmatic over. Don’t build a life on a false religion but on the true religion that is the gospel of Jesus. His life, death and resurrection. All the scriptures point to this and draw this out. And sadly we have made it about so much more than that at times and it’s hurt people to their very core.

These individuals never make sense. You would think that she didn't know that she was on planet Earth, in the Galaxy called the Milky Way, amongst millions of other galaxies while she was a Christian. She's speaking as if she's just discovered this... 🤔.
She's also speaking as if that reality is incompatible with Christianity. I don't get it.
It's a good quality to be a "seeker"; not to have fixed ideas. Children, the ones we have to be like if we wish to see the kingdom of heaven, have this seeking quality. Open-mindedness can lead to the Truth. You remind me of Nicodemus, Audrey, whose world was turned upside down when faced with a Messiah unlike the one the Jewish people expected.
You are so wrong and in danger of judgment. We are called to be humble and teachable , never open-minded. Open mindedness is what happens when you are unstable and looking for an excuse. James 1:8. Hebrews 13:8, God is unchanging and those that place their faith in Him will not be moved. Jesus is the rock (unmovable Psalm 62:6) the keeps us grounded to truth and not wandering. Nicodemus put his faith in "tradition", not the salvation of YH*H, that's why he was perplexed. Jesus came to destroy traditions and restore righteousness through faith, by the Spirit of God John 4:24.

She has such an obvious God given gift, but when we start looking to the world and not God’s word we open ourselves up to this kind of nihilism, and new agey view. I am sad for her but I will still listen to some of her much older music and pray for her

The scriptures you shared are truth, however, we cannot know her heart. Only God knows the intent and secret things of our hearts. He alone can discern whether or not she is lost or has rejected the Holy Spirit. I pray this isn't the case and for God's merciful conviction to bring her out of darkness. He wishes that none would perish therefore I pray and it's my hope that every brother and sister in Christ would intervene through prayer for her and all those without Christ.
I find there is a spirit at work that is of ancient days. I seek no joy in destruction of another one's opionion, merely wish to point out the narrow way of Jesus and the Cross. As Jesus said: narrow is the way, and broad the way that is gone underfoot by many. Feel grace in that there is blessing in knowing Jesus. I presume for now that is all you need to know. The King of Kings and the Highest Name will come back! Much will be revealed after

This is what happens to a person when they think they can save themselves by their own understanding at the same time they're saying they don't understand anything, it would have been better if she never knew the ways of righteous than to know and turn away, for now her end state is worse than the beginning, not only am I very disappointed in her but even more disappointed in the brethren that were around her that allowed her to become so shipwrecked that there now is probably no hope for her, For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame. Let this be a warning to all of us, lean not on your own understanding but in all your ways acknowledge the Lord.

that's not how it works. And Jesus said unto him, “No man, having put his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the Kingdom of God.” Luke 9:62. She was deep at the plow and has turned to the world again. There isn't returning to Christ after that.

Universalism. That’s what she’s talking about. This is not a bad thing, but hone it in sister lol. I believe her vision is a bit too broad. Narrow is the Way. This biblical truth & encouragement is not a prison, but rather a matter of staying focused. There is a balance. In other words for instance, “I respect other religions & understand that people achieve high spiritual understanding through those avenues.. but that is it. I respect it. I do not believe it & believe that my way works best for me.” For me, Christ & the Cross are the truth. It is what holds all things together & I accept that others may not necessarily share in those truths as they go try to find their own way. I also agree that spirituality comes with a lot of nuance but she is really broad. The is no healthy spirituality outside of the power of God. People shouldn’t judge her, it’s her journey.

@@coletteelyse5762 If followers of Jesus pass the message that cuts deeper than any two edged sward, we are obedient, not judgmental. God alone judges and is not silent. Just because it hurts doesn't mean we wrote the message, just delivered it.

The problem with us is we deny human suffering. Jesus helps us acknowledge it through the way He suffered for our fallen nature. It's very simple. Come back to Jesus.
So in the same breath say just said she found freedom thinking philosophically for herself and at the same time her mind is a prison. That’s quite inconsistent.
Christianity gives answers to problems we have. We must our minds that God has given to discover truth. Then our hearts to accept the reality of that truth.
This is heartbreaking. The bible warns against leaning on your own wisdom:
Proverbs 3:5 (ESV) Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.
Ecclesiastes 1:18 (ESV) For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
No Audrey. You are a child of God.
I feel so sorry for Audrey. She had some great songs. It is unfortunate that she had a meltdown. But, peoples's feelings don't supersede Existential Truths. There is nothing deeper or greater than God. Hopefully, Audrey will reach out to God again.
Actual Proper Reexamination: Seeking what is true and real is supposed to be the mission. This, I think, is making sure you aren't seeking to defend god or the bible while doing it, and you can't really seek if you start off with the bible as your guide in the back of your mind, because you are assuming it to be true, it's kind of tainting the journey. It seems they want you to seek within the boundaries set by the bible. That's not a good way to begin. Leaving the faith, for me, is the lack of sufficient evidence to warrant all the supernatural beings and the claims of supernatural intervention.
@@ItsSageof Jesus performing miracles effortlessly and rising from the dead is sufficient evidence of his divinity. She doesn't talk about her failed relationship.

There hasn't been any mechanism to show or demonstrate that any supernatural thing or event has occurred in the past that I know of. Hearsay or testimony is not sufficient to believe such an event as Resurrection.

These events have been DOCUMENTED by scientists, medical doctors, and can not be explained by other scientists which have earned the Nobel prize. These events have happened in the recent past as well as the entire history of Christianity. Your denial of HISTORICAL events won't make them go away.
@@MrSottobanco Historically I have no problem with Jesus' existence as a preacher and teacher. There's no sufficient evidence of him raising from the dead, and ascending into the sky seating himself on the right hand of god. You have to have more than just reports, text, documents, and or people SAYING it happened. It's not like any other claim like the claim, "Jesus wore sandals" or "Jesus wept".

Audrey -- you are my sister in Christ. Your 'smallness' or 'nothingness' is only one end of the spectrum. It is good to meditate on this, however it should be done in context of the entire picture. The other end of that spectrum is that God is everything -- all knowing, all loving, and all powerful. Because of God you are something -- you are made in His image and likeness and most importantly through your baptism you are beloved daughter of God. Yes, there are trillions of galaxies and in comparison we can feel insignificant. Despite all of these beautiful splendors of His creation -- God elevated you to Him. If it's OK, I would like to offer up three things that I'd like you to consider: 1) in a consistent manner, mediate on the glory of God...and the fact that He elevated you (through baptism) to be a His daughter 2) In prayer, go to the Blessed Virgin Mary...give her your thoughts...and ask her for guidance (which comes from Jesus, but flows through Our Lady) and 3) Adore our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament on a weekly basis. Bring to Him all of your thoughts and struggles. He is waiting for you. I will keep you in my prayers and wish nothing but the best for you.

Poor you... the ennemy is playing with you. You can be a Christian and also be lbgt. We all sin. Nobody doesn't sin and whoever told you, you can't be an lgbt member and not be a Christian is NOT telling you the Truth. We are all on the path to get closer to Jesus. Dropping Christianity because you don't feel welcomed in a conservative Church is fallacy. Don't drop everything you built on just because. Nature will NOT save you. Keep digging for the truth Audrey. You’re right in thinking there is more than fits into religion- but you don’t have to give up God to find out what that is. You just need a bigger realization of God. A blade of grass is not God nor is God a blade of grass. But every blade of grass is of God. We all are. It’s just a matter of being true to that responsibility. I think Jesus is pointing us beyond the confines of what we make of religion into something beyond what it can make of us. It’s a pure heart to heart relationship He wants with you. I hope you find it.
There is only one explanation for this "deconstruction" - the enemy of your soul has deceived you!! He has done this because of your God given talent is being used by God to draw people to Himself.. and that doesn't fit the devil's plan.
