They say FEAR GOD. But i tend not to fear God, as i accept Grace. I fully accept He turns my scarlet self to snow. Many worry about their sins? this is because they have not fully absorbed the message of Christ. 99 percent is not 100 percent. Try running a program at 99 percent download. I only fear my father if he does not understand my intent, But God understands all. SO there is nothing to fear. If i had vast evil thoughts? i might understand why some people are unsure. The judgement of God is not about your crimes? The church-borgias popes, etc. and protestant pastors have sold hell and damnation. Sold it on the premise you go to hell for any small crime? even stealing apples. To mass murder. Many a murderer is a reasonable fellow. and many a non-murderer is a kunt. God is not judging humanity with 30 billion court cases? he is not sending Ms Jones to hell for adultery. God is far wiser and smarter than 1000 Einsteins. He only punishes those that take a MARK. so Does Hitler the nutter have a MARK? the answer is NO. the churches? dubious term of suspicious men. in Costumes . Have this model of the last 6 billion atheists-pagans getting a MARK. that is patently unfair and wrong. They have ignored many passages in the bible. EVERYONE is offered a MARK. ALL 30 billion. From Adam to now. ?? because God raises all the dead. God first removes all those that believe by FAITH. the BARLEY HARVEST. Those people who Love JEsus. I don't know if the pope loves JEsus. Or if he loves being the Pope. Wearing a costume? Each man knows if he wants Jesus. SO many are left behind. to use a corny term. If the Pope is left? any opinion he has about God, at that point is seen as BOGUS. THEY DID NOT WANT JESUS. so God now lets SATAN sort out the masses. Satan will offer many, many billions a MARK. Chris Hitchens is on earth again. All the dead are returned. Everyone is offered a MARK. in FULL KNOWLEDGE. No one accidentally lands in hell. its a deliberate action. Like filing taxes. It takes a OATH. a MARK. maybe a signature. SO its not like you just say.. i like hell? its a deliberate action. a blood oath? its not about small potato crimes. YOU MARK yourself for hell. It is free will. You abandon God. God never abandons you. YOU cut yourself? you do it to yourself. who is your main enemy? Satan? the wife? the man at the tax office? Putin? - no its yourself. You drink, you refuse to exercise? you eat cheese burgers? you pick bad things. so it's YOU = Yourself who is the enemy. You have a death wish. And you are over confident. My greatest enemy is myself.

None of us were 'vaccine hesitant' during the COVID hysteria. We were hesitant about taking a novel injection that didn't prevent infection against an illness that caused little or no harm to 99% of people. Our hesitancy was rational and our concerns were justified because it wasn't a true vaccine. We were demonized by people who failed to do their own due diligence.

Really enjoyed this interview. It is very interesting listening to someone so disagreeable. I think there is a lot of oversharing nowadays and I liked his value of privacy. I agree with Elizabeth that our lives are not cliche, though it made me reflect on my own teenage political journey and the ways on which it did and didn't fit the pattern.

Lovely traditional schools where we had our Christian assemblies, and particularly the public schools had the best Christian teaching. Me, I was ordinary secondary modern, but yet we can hear the wonderful knowledge that comes back into its own when boys from public schools came to really believe, later in life: C.S. Lewis, Derek Prince, Bear Grylls [he didn't like it, but he knew God was real] and Douglas Murray has that great knowledge of the old style bible teaching, although Douglas calls himself agnostic.

This was a great interview - I love the clash of styles and personalities between you and Peter! But nonetheless you are united in your common faith which I love. On another note, Peter is right - we Christians (and anyone with a sense of fairness and justice for that matter) have a responsibility to stop the rot that is taking place in the west today. With the new (likely) Labour government here in the UK, things will likely accelerate in the wrong direction. But good, thinking people can certainly do our own bit to slow the damage done to our society, by calling the collective consciousness of the country to account on a number of key social issues - with reason and with conviction of our Christian beliefs firmly in hand.

5:02 "They're attempting to alter the lives of other people to conform with what they want because they think that those people would benefit from the disciplines which they want to impose on them and ultimately this leads to all kinds of horrible things. Don't do that, would be my profound lesson, it will never end well." Perfectly summarises the folly of every arrogant, self-righteous religious proselytizer in the world today. Now practice what you preach, Mr Hitchens, and start by taking the plank out of your own eye. Stop telling me and others how to live their lives.

I can't see many readers feeling reassured after reading Peter HItchens articles. I may agree with a lot of what he says, but they are generally all of a pessimistic outlook into how society is going. He has such a wide array of opinions too that I'd imagine it's a rarity for readers to agree with all he has to say. That said, he is a much better writer than speaker, and he can be a great speaker/debater at times like in some of his question time appearances, other times not so much.

Interesting. It seems the demands of social media make these short excerpts necassary as a kind of pointer to the more substantial discussion, a 'teaser' if you will. I'm not sure this works really because if it is a flavor of the whole discussion, then it's not that interesting. It would seem that, to some degree or another, Hitchens return to religion is motivated by the fear of the judgement of a God who punishes ... well, tortures really ... wrong doers. This may be a novel perspective for a younger listener but, for people of my generation, it was a dominant, highly destructive, narrative. So, if this is the flavor of the discussion, I'm not sure that I'm interested.* On a broader level, Hitchens has at least one thing in common with his brother and that is a sense of detachment. There seems very little passion or emotion in his observations. He didn't regard you're questions as particularly in need of 'apology'. For him they were an interesting event between long lunches and on the same 'level' as asking about the wine. For you, they were intrusive because you care. * I propably will give the longer version a go. 😁

As an ex care worker, I disagree. Death is comfortably pushed on old people and I didn’t see any resistance on accepting death. I used to support euthanasia but after my experience, I realised we don’t need it. It already goes on in care homes. Doctors are “over medicating” some old people, but in no way they are stretching lives, they are just providing comfortable deaths because medication doesn’t stop the aging process. Dying can strip away your dignity because you can’t fully control your body and making choices. The process of dying can last months or years even without medication. It’s not a taboo, it’s just a subject that exposes a problem in the health care system, that’s why nobody wants to talk about it. It’s expensive, it’s criminal and it’s shameful. Nothing to do with fear of death. I think everyone knows they are going to die and most of them accept the chances of dying in a miserable way, so why talking about it? I am sure people would want to talk about it if they had more control over their care when they reach a fragile state, but many don’t have that luxury.
