Excited to follow this journey...we are doing the 35 day Hawaii-Tahitti on Koningsdam in February 2025. Your canal cruise looked super interesting and fun! Will be interesting to hear how you feel about the inside cabin for 35 days. While I understand the reasoning and you don't spend much time in the cabin we often use our cabin as a safe haven away from the crowds..that inside might get a little closed in as the 35 days go by.
Ooooh, nice! We’ve really enjoyed our sideways interior for this sailing. Something about the layout makes it feel a big larger, and we can turn off the light and take the perfect nap at any point in the day, ha ha… :P
That little vase was awesome! We’ve seen them sold on various HAL ships and were surprised to see how many they gave away over the course of a cruise!!
Awesome. Excited to follow this series. Currently booked on Statendam for next Aug for a tour around British Isles. Great memories of our canal tour in Amsterdam two years ago. Thanks for the shore excursions link. Looks like @ great resource.
You definately picked a great ship for a long cruie. The food is the best! Not sure about an inide cabin but I get it. I have just gotton off RC inide cabin. Looking forward to all the vlogs. Thank you for sharing. I totallly enjoyed the last vlogs.
Ya the cruise sounds amazing!! I really want to do a back to back, but I definitely could never do an inside cabin, especially for that long! Very clostrophobic!!!! And I like to be able to see outside and sit on my balcony. Don’t know how you guys do it. Wish I could then i would be able to do more cruise’s. Love watching your videos and Jay your a great commentator! Your guys Rock!!!😊
Five weeks will be our longest stint on the same ship until our upcoming world voyages. Yow! But these types of trips are really about the destination for us!! :P
Hey guys, I pick up groceries for my cabin at Lido, too. I also bring a small zip lock to make a lit trail mix from the salad bar to avoid eating pizza late at night.
Lots of great port stops with 21-day "Ultimate Viking Explorer"& 14-day "North Cape & The Midnight Sun" but not what HAL bills as "Voyage of the Vikings." The 35-day round trip "Voyage of the Vikings," which sails round trip from Boston, can also be sailed by choosing one way for 17 days. "Voyage of the Vikings" is offered once a year in July.
Went to a Eidfjord in2018 … breathtaking!!!! Went out with a lad from Belgium in my 20’s picked up some Dutch …well Flanderland speak !!! Still know little bits and bobs 30 years later
That’s him! Great host for the last three weeks that we’ve been on the ship, and we’re looking forward to two more weeks of fun trivias and things!! :D
Thankee! We do go home for a few weeks or months at a time, but we space the videos out so there’s never really a gap, ha ha… so we aren’t constantly away from home though it seems like it!! :P
I am a little bit confused, I presume you did the tour with cheese before you went through the locks? Have a great time, I am always eyeing this cruise, since it is departing from my home country, but so far have not booked it. Looking forward to the content.
Yes, we mentioned in the first evening wrap-up that we would be showing video from the canal cruise that we took the evening before, then jumping back ahead to the second day onboard!! :D
The sea day footage was a dressy night, yes. We’ve found it to be pretty casual overall, like many cold weather cruises we’ve done. But the crowd is probably about half Dutch since we’re sailing their cruise line from their country.
Oh this will be fun! But honestly, the interior cabin would be a hardship for me. I’m surprised, with all your cruising loyalty experience why you opt for inside cabins so often? Is price the only reason?
I'm personally good with interior cabins but I am frustrated at how HAL downsized inside cabins on Vista class (compass class or Z-class) and newer ships. I much prefer the indides on the R-class ships. And sadly HAL is down to just two R-class ships.
Typical European river cruise pricing runs about $5k per person, from what we've seen. Riverside does have different price points where you can find cabins for as low as $3k per person if you opt out of drinks and excursions, and choose less popular times of year, and we like the flexibility of their offerings!! :D
The only cruise line flight program that we’ve used has been Princess, which worked really well. For this trip, we used airline miles/points to book our own flights!! :D
Oh gosh... go fast!!😂😂😂 I just spit out my drink that was so funny.
Oh so we are with you at the next cruise to Norway and Schotland. Looping forward to it🎉
Hey hey, it’s embarkation day! Hope your boarding process was smooth!! :D

Going to love this series❤!
Thank you for sharing this embarkation and video with us. OK we hope you have a great time.❤❤❤
Glad to have you along for our random adventures, ha ha… thanks so much!! :D
Happy to see another interesting long cruise to follow along! Love the trivia prize.
That little vase was awesome! We’ve seen them sold on various HAL ships and were surprised to see how many they gave away over the course of a cruise!!
Thank you for sharing your experience! You guys are so much fun! New subscriber!
Thanks so much! Glad to have you along for our craziness!! :P
Ohhhh I like the vase at the very end! It's very sweet!
We’ve seen those for sale on HAL ships before, so we were surprised to see them given out at almost every trivia session!! :O
Awesome. Excited to follow this series. Currently booked on Statendam for next Aug for a tour around British Isles. Great memories of our canal tour in Amsterdam two years ago. Thanks for the shore excursions link. Looks like @ great resource.
Oh nice! We’ve done two Shore Excursions Group tours now, and both have been great. Hope you have fun planning your future fun!! :D
Great itinerary and looking forward to watching all of the wonderful videos. Take good care of the ship for us - we board on 9/7!
Ah, just as we get off the ship to fly to Southampton! We’ll try to leave her in pretty good shape!! :P
You definately picked a great ship for a long cruie. The food is the best! Not sure about an inide cabin but I get it. I have just gotton off RC inide cabin. Looking forward to all the vlogs. Thank you for sharing. I totallly enjoyed the last vlogs.
True! We enjoyed our first ride on Nieuw Statendam last spring. This class has a lot of features that we enjoy!! :D
Ya the cruise sounds amazing!! I really want to do a back to back, but I definitely could never do an inside cabin, especially for that long! Very clostrophobic!!!! Sounds like a long trip ahead
Sure it will be very enjoyable 😊

Another great trip series cannot wait for the next one. I enjoyed it very much. Keep up the great work.
Thankee! The destinations on this one should be pretty spectacular!! :D
Hey guys, I pick up groceries for my cabin at Lido, too. I also bring a small zip lock to make a lit trail mix from the salad bar to avoid eating pizza late at night.
Aha, good idea! We usually bring some zip bags but always forget to have them when we need them at lido, ha ha… oops!!
Seriously the first youtuber I have seen who can properly hold a knife and fork. Well done Dee keep up the etiquette!
Thanks so much!! :D

Aha, we learned a bit about the Flemish culture on our river cruise last year, if that’s the same thing. That’s super interesting!! :D
That vase, looks like the bow of the ship.👋💕🇦🇺
Ah, it does indeed!! :D
Looking forward to this cruise!
We’ve definitely got some spectacular destinations on this one!! :D
We’ll be leaving in September and stay away for 48 days, some cruises and some land . We have great plans!
Oh wow, that sounds amazing! Hope you have a ton of fun on our adventures!! :D
Looking forward to this series great jod
Thankee thankee!! :D
great tip taking fruit back to the room!
We sometimes just want a quick snacky lunch on a sea day, and some fruit or other quick lido grabs do the job!! :P
Your trivia host sounded like Tomas Zwart Snoeck. If so, I have cruised with him twice and found him to be friendly, professional, and charming.
That’s him! Great host for the last three weeks that we’ve been on the ship, and we’re looking forward to two more weeks of fun trivias and things!! :D
We will be in Amsterdam next month, going on the Rotterdam to Norway.
That’s awesome! We’ve got mostly Norway coming up on the second half of this adventure. Hope you have a great cruise!! :D
"Voyage of the Vikings!!!!"
Which port excursion includes pillaging and rampaging?
Hmmm, hopefully the Iceland portion. Seems like the historically correct thing to do!! :P
Looks like you are going to have a great trip.
We’re definitely excited for some brand new destinations!! :D
Love all your videos! Don't you get homesick?
Thankee! We do go home for a few weeks or months at a time, but we space the videos out so there’s never really a gap, ha ha… so we aren’t constantly away from home though it seems like it!! :P
@@parodeejay great! Love you guys!

I wish Princess Cruise Line would put out a mug like that lol
We’ve used the heck out of those things on our cold weather cruises, ha ha. We now take them on whatever cruise line we’re sailing. Love it!! :D
Are they more dressy on this sailing for MDR or was that a "formal" night?
The sea day footage was a dressy night, yes. We’ve found it to be pretty casual overall, like many cold weather cruises we’ve done. But the crowd is probably about half Dutch since we’re sailing their cruise line from their country.
So you basically did a side by side from the river cruise to HAL?
Yes indeed!! :D
Oh this will be fun! But honestly, the interior cabin would be a hardship for me. I’m surprised, with all your cruising loyalty experience why you opt for inside cabins so often? Is price the only reason?
Yes, we prefer to cruise more often in a less expensive cabin!! :D
I'm personally good with interior cabins but I am frustrated at how HAL downsized inside cabins on Vista class (compass class or Z-class) and newer ships. I much prefer the indides on the R-class ships. And sadly HAL is down to just two R-class ships.
If you don’t mind me asking how much was this cruise?
Typical European river cruise pricing runs about $5k per person, from what we've seen. Riverside does have different price points where you can find cabins for as low as $3k per person if you opt out of drinks and excursions, and choose less popular times of year, and we like the flexibility of their offerings!! :D
Dee and Jay. I just love your utube channel. I have a question for Jay.
Did you use to work at JISD? WILL KEEP WATCHING HAVE A SAFE TRIP😊❤
Thankee! I’m not sure what JISD is, so Imma say no, ha ha. Glad to have you along for our craziness!! :P ~Jay
I did indeed do a canal cruise well worth the then €16 I would like to go back and tour the city more and go to the markets HAL food looks fantastic
We’ve done two canal cruises now. Such a great way to get a taste of the city!! :D
26:00 is there a particular reason Jay doesn’t like "Sweet Caroline"?
We will be on the North Cape and Midnight Sun portion. Hope to meet you. Beth and George, cabin #5104
Aha, today’s the day! Happy embarkation!! :D
We couldn't go out of Amsterdam. We had to go out of Rotterdam!
We’re due to come back into Amsterdam this Saturday, but fortunately we’re on back-to-back… here’s hoping for no delays!!
You guys doing some amazing things , do you book flights through the cruise lines? How long flight to Amsterdam
The only cruise line flight program that we’ve used has been Princess, which worked really well. For this trip, we used airline miles/points to book our own flights!! :D
☮️☮️☮️
I was hoping this was a Viking cruise, too bad….
They probably have a Viking area cruise on Viking, actually. Funny!! :D
Jealous!
