In the MDR order 2 steaks if you like or extra chips, anything you like they’ll only be too happy to give you, just make sure you eat it all and don’t waste anything. Ventura is a great ship we were lucky to have our late parents with us that had cruised many times, on your next cruise you’ll be able to navigate eating times and venues like a pro. Only just stumbled up on your vlogs and I’m finding them very entertaining….👍🏻
Love the your vids. I 100% get you every time with people and dining on a table with random is a big no from me as well. I want at least people connection as I can when on holiday 😅
On drink water from the bathroom, it’s the same water they serve in the restaurants or anywhere else on the ship, In the main dining room ask for a table for two, also if you think portions are small, you can ask for more. If you want 3 starters, 5 main courses, 4 puddings just ask, they don’t mind providing you eat it. Don’t forget you can also get room service.
Locks absolutely fascinate me - I transmitted the Panama Canal recently, and it blew my mind. The fact that one of these enormous cruise ships can squeeze through is so amazing!
I enjoyed watching your video, I think cruising is great but like to see other ships and learn of other people’s experience. I know how bad you feel like when you are sea sick and I sympathise with your partner. It’s probably a good idea to go earlier for your meals. I would have stayed on the ship if it was raining and took part in a quiz etc. it’s ridiculous about the water situation onboard.
Im not sure if anyone pointd out but on a cruise you can get as many portions of an entree, appetizer, dessert etc. The portions are small but you can order literally one of everything on that menu if you chose. Get it all!
The water on the ship is the same wherever you go. Use the tap in the bathroom to fill bottles, then put them in your cabin fridge. The water is all desalinated and purified on the ship. There are various filling points around the ships although you don't really need them. On a recent cruise I actually saw a man take his cabin kettle to a filling point and carry it back through the ship. It is beyond ridiculous. As for the buffet....why would you? You can have all your meals on one of the MDRs. If portions aren't big enough, just order more. There is no limit. And why not try dining with fellow cruisers? You will actually meet some really nice people.
for future reference, just fill your water bottles from the taps in your bathroom, it is exactly the same water as they serve in the MDR or any of the bars its just chilled in your bathroom. Fill your bottles and put them in the fridge.
Loving the videos. I would love a cruise if I didn’t have to deal with other people!! Maybe I should just buy a canoe? Your reaction to sharing a table is 100% my reaction! Seems like you’re enjoying the experience though.
Make friends with the room stewerd, they have the best tips on where to eat etc, ask for ice for your room in the evening and you have water for your water bottles in the morning. You can get a sea sickness tablet from the medical area, you will be charged a lovely bill will be posted under your door but you can claim for it on your travel insurence. As others have said P&O not the best cruise company, I went with Royal Carrabean no table sharing, Water available to buy from your room and around the ship, if the buffet seating is full theres overflows into the restaraunts.
Kev, If Anna is struggling on the mill pond you had, she won't do a Northern Lights Cruise well. My wife worked on Cruise Ships for 18 years, and says the most stable is the Queen Mary 2 (Cunard). The QM2 does go up that way, but it won't guarantee the lights like Hurtigruten would (who are very expensive). QM2 is a different experience. Very laid back, very few kids. Quite plush. It might not have enough entertainment for you, but its a great "proper" Cruise experience IMO (I've been on 3 cruises on the QM2, and The Norwegian Fjords one was awesome.)
they like you to buy water on the ship - the newer ones have water fountains in staircase landings near cabins - meals in main restaurants are more civilized - can order water through cabin steward normally
I’m wondering if the room you stayed in was in the middle of the ship. Apparently they’re best for motion sickness. I watched a Disney Dream cruise vlog & you can buy water in bulk, order room service. No wonder it’s so expensive.
It looks like it's been a challenging cruise, perhaps Amsterdam is a cursed city for you based on your Eurostar nightmare too, but fingers crossed we hear you had an awesome day in the city on the next video. Really felt for Anna, but good to see you make it out for dinner on your own table in the end. Lots of laughs once again you certainly make the videos entertaining even if ur finding it a challenge
The buffet layouts on Ventura and Azura aren’t great. Much better on the bigger ships. However I had breakfast and lunch in the main dining rooms and it was much better
Hi Kevin chapman sorry Anna's not having the best time maybe it depends off the cruise I think once you find things and how it works it will become second nature too you, you sound like your having the best time ever Kevin Chapman enjoy in a long standing vlog watcher enjoy your cruise see you soon
What Anna did to fill the water bottles is the correct etiquette. Due to hygiene reasons you dont directly fill your water bottles from the water station. It's also a cruise thing with long queues in the buffet. We recently did a cruise and the lines were out the door at 6am with people waiting for the buffet to open!! Also keep the seasickness tablets up as they help with getting your land legs back after the cruise.
I dont really use tik tok otherwise would have sent constant suggestions. Anything you do want to ask though even post cruise i will try my best to help and answer.
@JustAlex848 I've met quite a few solo cruisers, but it depends on the cruise line. You may also find friends cruising together as it's cheaper per person. Solo cruising: You have to be aware of things like single supplement or that there are only so many solo cabins on ships ( but they also do assign normal cabins to solo travellers)
Kev - Royal Caribbean cruises are great re: not having to share a table with strangers. I like you couldn't handle the thought of it, but on RC they ask at the door to the main dining room if you want seated at a table to yourself or with others. Just an FYI!
The Ventura is the very worst ship i have ever been on for buffet seating/food availability. It is NOT the norm and please don't be put off by this ridiculous ship.
Never been on a cruise myself but watched quite a lot of content on them, especially other P&O cruises. By the looks of it this is a poor ship and the food experience etc definitely isn’t like that on all the others
@@carolr9301 OK I will. It's out of personal experience. I was a european freight driver before retiring. P&O had a bad reputation. Long queues, high prices. I would always prefer DFDS. The driver lounge was great, the food better and for freight driver it was free. I have been told that since all the British sailors and workers were sacked by P&O the service has got worse. Seeing the shambles around the food on the video seems to have confirmed this view. Hope you enjoy your next cruise!
@@MoreKevinChapman a fair point. Although, your video showed me the sort of chaos I experienced before. I can recommend Travemunde (Germany) to Helsinki. A 2 day gentle "ferry" experience up the Baltic Sea. Great food.
Check out the first part of our cruise series here 👉 ua-cam.com/video/WeVS3P9lfNc/v-deo.html
We always go to the main dining room for breakfast
Table for 2 and it's really enjoyable
If the buffet is busy go to the main dining room

We got food from the buffet & took it out to the pool area. Got a table everytime.

To get water, i fill the kettle up in my cabin, boil it, let it get cold, and hey presto, water 👍
Then i fill my water bottles up that way 😊👍

They normally ask at the restaurant desk if you want to share a table. You can also ask to change it if possible if you dont want to share.
The water on the ship is the same wherever you go. Use the tap in the bathroom to fill bottles, then put them in your cabin fridge. The water is all desalinated and purified on the ship.

No i wouldn't either use the cabin water!
@@JustAlex848think you will find like at home they clean the sink, taps etc. They also provide glasses to use for water.
Cheeseboard, looked more like a dariylee triangle with a digestive. The one grape was a nice addition though.
Thoroughly recommend Iona for a really good cruise experience. Ventura is outdated these days

Your commitment to the cause is much appreciated!!! id not cope without water!! I guess id have to take a 12 pack in my case!

Welcome in the Netherlands 🎉😂.. our flat, cold and wet country 😂😅
We're doing this very cruise in June and really looking forward to it 😊

Of course you can buy water on the ship.

Well, they are looking to limit the number of toutists...
Listen this is your first cruise, I believe the next one will be better!! I am enjoying your adventures!! Thanks!!
P&O cruise line , most definitely Butlins at sea … great if you like shocking facilities, poor food , and a rubbish buffet queues
We had our first cruise on ventura in May last year our experience was excellent no issues in buffet maybe we was lucky
The buffet layouts on Ventura and Azura aren’t great. Much better on the bigger ships. However I had breakfast and lunch in the main dining rooms and it was much better
This looks like absolute chaos at meal times I really wouldn’t be impressed by this at all.
Avoid the buffet. You absolutely don't need to go there. MDR food is better and it is certainly more civilised in there.
they wont look at you twice if you order a couple of starters or a couple of main courses its all good

We found that you can ask the steward for tins of water
A LITTLE TIP ONLY TAKE YOUR TRAVEL PILLS JUST BEFORE YOUI GO TO BED
There is an albert heijn in the station on the port side you could go to for future reference.
When in the Main Dining Room you can order extra chips & Mains as much as you like. But do eat everything

If you're on freedom dining with P&O you also get the option to have a table for two.
MDR (main dining room) for breakfast and lunch. You can buy water from the bars.
as a cruise lover, i am enjoying these videos! I was recently on Britannia and didn't have issues with the buffet seating as you have had on this ship
When I last went on a cruise I saw a sea turtle swimming around and dolphins
I seen u on the boat I said I to u both
So outta place I'm in fits 😂bless you get me to butlins omdays 😂
Kev you can always order more main meals etc im main dining room they just dont tell you 😉
Looking forward to this one - one of my favourite ports to sail in to!
What lock?
The Ventura is the very worst ship i have ever been on for buffet seating/food availability. It is NOT the norm and please don't be put off by this ridiculous ship.
For the water bottle just fill the glasses with water and then pour into your own water bottle
The Lady Gaga thing was in the bar bar oh la la
I was in same boat
Yes you can buy water on the ship but honestly go the duty free in the cruise terminal and buy big bottles
All cabins have water on tap. It's the same water everywhere on the ship. And a lot cleaner than what comes out of your tap at home.
@hacendado3840 not all of it is meant to be drinkable but yes you can use the tap water as well.
That’s why I won’t go to the buffet in the morning. The main dining room is much much better.
Why does the volume fluctuate?
Weird fact I had an exam for uni in the cruise terminal a couple years ago
I did Wagamama in Amsterdam when I visited to see Kylie in concert and cos its noodles and it was cold it was perfect
Amazed at how dated the ship looks! Hope it was a cheap trip! Lol
Never been on a cruise myself but watched quite a lot of content on them, especially other P&O cruises.

The promenade deck is undercover and the clam shell would have been a better place to see the transit. It’s miserable when it’s raining.
Wristbands do work, wear from start of Cruise your body gets used to it .
