Just dont know what to add to these comments - it's such a joy to watch Rebecca and Megan doing what they do back then - please don't stop bringing back these magical memories Julie
I had to duck and cover to survive this firework of excellent musicianship. We can hear that RebL was a serial winner of mandoline playing contests in her early age. Megan without question is on the same level. I love her beautiful Scheerhorn dobro. I can't believe that Megan was always smiling when she did these difficult solos. Others usually are drawing "guitar faces". This song ist a gem. Julie, we all are so lucky that you haven't silver and gold in your treasure chest but Larkin Poe live songs.
I keep trying to listen to another well-known musician who's known for great guitar work and a kind of bluesy sound. He's skilled, but it always sounding like he's "trying" for a great sound. He's trying to be what Larkin Poe actually are. They've got the skill, and the music just sounds like a natural part of who they are. Would love to see them in a small venue like this. They always seem like skilled friends hanging out in a living room that welcome you to sit in.
I was actually fortunate to see them in their (parent's) living/great room. This was back when they were the Lovell Sisters and their oldest sister Jessica was still playing with them. At the time, whenever it was (maybe even a couple years before this performance), they lived at home with Mom and Dad in Calhoun, Georgia. They lived there for several years. My wife and I actually saw them at the Gem, a local Calhoun, beautifully restored movie theater that my wife went to as a child. Their parents had a beautiful house and upstairs it had an open balcony that sat maybe a dozen people. It was a fantastic concert and bluegrass musicians The Special Consensus opened for The Lovell Sisters.
This has to be THE gem from this gig! I've loved BH since I first heard it! ❤ 🤘❤ Edit 11/2/24: I mean how the hell do you play Rock with Mando and Dobro leads?!?!?! This just hits all the Rock points!!! #LarkinPoe @JulieMeyers
Throwback to the bluegrass days. Mando n dobro. YEAH
You can't go wrong with an Elmore James song. ❤ Add Larkin Poe performing an Elmore James song for the magic carpet ride. 😻

They're the first to really rock on mando and dobro since Zep. I'm sure somebody wants to argue on that, oh, well!
This one has a great vibe - then it kicks
Perfectly stated
Ok. Ok. Damn. Ok. I mean that's all the words I got.
