- Bjørn, Louise og deres datter Agnes møder på en ferie i Toscana det hollandske par Karin og Patrick, der har deres søn Abel med. De to familier har fantastisk kemi, og da Bjørn og Louise tre måneder senere på en kold efterårsdag bliver inviteret til deres landsted i Holland, tøver de i første omgang, men siger hurtigt ja tak - for hvad er det værste, der kan ske?

@@KM-ek9or I think the ending will be changed in the remake. In the original, the main characters did not know how to fight back against these people and died through their own fault. Now everything will be the other way around, the main characters will survive by killing this crazy couple

Funny Games was remade because Americans didn't want to read subtitles. So they literally made the exact same movie with the same director, it's actually crazy

There was exactly one movie that I felt such a strange relationship with, because while I couldn't take my eyes away from such a thrilling captivating story, I also hated it to the deepest fiber of my being that such heartless cruelty could be imagined by humanity. That movie was Funny Games. This is now topped that. Jesus Chrsit what a brilliant thrilling punch to the soul

i know it was frustrating, still a good movie tho, the decision making by bjorn was really stupid, i think the american version is gonna go that route, still think the original will still be better tho, but the trailer of the new one kinda insinuate that itll be more like that, theres even a scene in the trailer with the woman kinda barricading the room and another one where the boy thells the girl that his tonge was cut

Imagine making a great movie and being paid decently for it and not being known around the world.. and only a few years later.. “mega Hollywood” comes in and remakes the same movie in a different country with highest paid actors and highest budget and of course you get 0 credit 🤦🏾♂️

i just saw the trailer of the new one, and theres nothing besides that maybe therell be more resistance cause it was frustrating watching bjorn be a pussy, but the movie is great regardless of anything new the american version offers, they will not match the original, even the acting of mccavoy looks exxagerated, cinematography, acting, directing, everything look inferior compared to the original

Nothing like you said… there is nothing deep it’s just couple of sickos and a coward that’s what the movie is about there is no resistance there is no character development the movie is just so centered on cowardliness of a so called father with the bone chilling end… that’s all that this movie offers yet it is realistic but enough realism in this life we just watch movies to enjoy not necessarily a happy ending but at least fighting back but no instead “let’s make a super sad realistic movie” what waste of time and nerves

Just finished watching this and omfg I won't stop thinking bout the ending for the rest of the week, month, maybe year ! Disturbing as hell ! Between this movie and When Evil Lurks I don't think much can tip them both when it comes to the dark sickness to it all ! Really liking the foreign movies lately. So twisted definitely not what you think.

Dovevano fuggire alla prima avvisaglia. Inoltre trovo assurdo che nel finale quando lo psicopatico scende dalla macchina per fare pipi, la vittima non si sia subito messa alla guida scappando e la moglie dietro non abbia aperto lo sportello per dare un calcio e spingere fuori la moglie dello psicopatico e fuggire andare dai carabinieri. Inoltre non si sono per niente difesi prima di essere uccisi. Hanno veramente subito tutto come degli stupidi
Erano fuggiti anche abbastanza presto, all'alba, ma inverosimilmente sono tornati indietro perché la figlia non trovava il peluche in auto. Tornati alla casa il padre entra per cercare il peluche (ed incontra i proprietari fintamente rattristati dalla loro fuga) e la figlia trova il peluche vicino a lei in auto. Un po' na cagata

You should be ok. Even without subtitles. I watched it with a date, and she understood almost everything. Since like 90 % of the language spoken in the movie is in english. Otherwise there are some cinemas with subtitles also - like grand :)

You must be new to the genre... If you are easily affected by media you should stay away from the genre or at least the non mainstream products, there is some really dark stuff around.
This movie was good but the end was just too artificial to get to me.
Great movie.i surely will recommend this movie but there are some inconsistencies like Bjorn standing up like a man for the sake of his child's whims about some cheap toy bunny and yet when his family's life is being destroyed he just turned into a catatonic A-hole

Ja... Når anmeldere siger sådan, så er filmen elendigt. Det er det samme med da den sidste Conjuring kom frem, eller Paranormal Activity osv. Når anmeldere fraråder at se filmen fordi det er så uhyggeligt, så kan man lige så godt lad være fordi filmen er så dårligt

She was less useless because she was at least noticing the things the husband refused to, and she was the one to initially prompt them to leave. I can't recall why they went back. Both did tolerate too much disrespect in the end though.

I agree with you. I was always scared of people as a child. In hindsight that was a good thing!
This movie was excellent... Right until the third act when it fell apart. I totally get what the director was going for, but it felt so forced that it just didnt worked for me.

So good. I felt nothing for the couple. Great job, producers. Reminds me of the Holocaust, BLM, the Middle East, and what's going around now and our past, even of Twitter. Human beings do dumb things and if we continue to let others do as they want, we deserve what we get, generation of suffering. This move was deep.

So my question is in the middle of the movie when their family had petrol in the car and actually escaped it was the husband who turned the car around to retrieve the daughter’s soft toy which was later found near the car seat. Why did the husband even turn the car around for one stupid soft toy

To be honest we really cannot blame the couple that sent them a postcard and invited them to stay in their house in Netherlands.
This family (husband , wife with their daughter) made the conscious decision to visit them . They could’ve ignored the postcard or just carry on with their lives .
And even when they had already gone to visit them there was opportunity to escape when but the husband chose to turn the car around to retrieve some dumb stuff toy for his daughter and then got convinced by the couple to stay back.
When they asked “why are you doing this” they replied “because you let me” well it’s true in a way.
They had a choice to escape but they didn’t. They had a choice to not stay friends with the couple but they chose to trust. They had a choice to not feel bad when the couple was dancing in a touchy manner at the bar or eating meat/ sleeping naked but they did. Even when the daughter wanted to sleep in their room while they were having sex they chose to ignore and the hosting couple took the child to their room.
So technically it’s like on them? They had several chances to escape but they put themselves into this mess
Se dovessi dare un voto per le musiche darei 1/10 la trama non è per niente lineare, Louise chiama Patrick e Karin la seconda volta che scappano nonostante lei aveva detto al marito che non c'era recezione del segnale telefonico senza nemmeno pensare che quella fuga improvvisa da parte del marito potesse essere perché aveva visto qualcosa di brutto nella casa della coppia di coniugi assassini, per non parlare che già avevano ripetuto la stessa scena quando Louise disse al marito che dovevano andare via da quella casa, il finale sembra abbandonato a se stesso non c'è stato il minimo tentativo di difesa da parte di Louise e Bjørn
Ser kedelig ud, men så igen, Danmark kan bare ikke finde ud af at lave film mere.

Ngl it was a bit boring for me but I do realise that it was a much more realistic depiction of such a scenario, it felt very real, real reactions and conversations. Maybe ive watched too many unrealistic thrillers to enjoy this. But SPOILER: the fact that Louisa and Bjorn didn't even try and fight them in the end infuriated me but then i guess they were in such shock that it was how a real person would have reacted
This trailer doesn't do the movie justice at all. Makes it look like your average horror film, which this isn't. More a rosemary's baby type of horror than a cheap jumpscare-relient shock flick which i liked but the person is unusual and offputting for some. I personally loved it although it's far from flawless. Tafdrup did what he sought to achieve in my opinion... definetely a very uncomfortable movie

@@brittleeyes Meh, det siger man hver gang en ny gyser kommer og jeg tror i øvrigt, jeg har luret twistet - at drengen ikke bare er født uden en tunge og sandsynligvis slet ikke er deres dreng, men at det er en slags Michael Haneke Family Games inspiret film, der handler om, at teste det danske par i, hvor langt man kan tage den, uden at de tør sige fra og sige nej. Vi får pt. en bølge af den slags social commentary gysere/satirer med Midsommar osv. og det er lidt som om, de alle mudrer ud i det samme. Den ser ikke videre interessant ud som Hereditary, også af manden bag Midsommar, og budskabet synes at være åbenlyst præcis som det var med Tafdrups film En Frygtelig Kvinde. og En frygtelig kvinde var godt nok en jammerfest i øvrigt, hvor Tafdrup nærmest forsøgte at slå os oveni hovedet med sit budskab, som sjovt nok også handlede om ikke at kunne sige nej. Han kører vist i et mønster og rille omkring det at turde sige nej. Har hørt, at man virkelig skal suspend ens disbelief, fordi den danske familie træffer beslutninger, som er så plothullede, at det kun er for at skubbe filmen mod den slutning alle omtaler som et kæmpe twist, men som jeg gætter på ender lidt som Family Games. Så nej, har heller ikke høje forventninger. Hvis man derimod vil se en god film i biograferne i disse dage, så nap The Batman. Den var fremragende og anderledes i en tid, hvor alt er ens og hvor alle prøver at efterligne A24s film. Men fint, hvis du kunne li' den.
Har i øvrigt en idé om, at den slutter med, at de får skåret tungerne af, men jeg er ikke helt så sikker på det som jeg umiddelbart er på de andre ting, jeg gætter på.

I watched this movie yesterday. I have no words. This is the most brutal and bizarre movie i have ever watched. I wish i didnt. The last 15-20 minutes will haunt me in my dreams. Dont watch it if you are a parent.

Nøj sikke en elendig film og dårlig slutning er ikke værd at se igen
Ved ikke hvad der påvirker min opfattelse af optræden, dansk dialekten med påsat naturlig levering eller bare deja-vu i dialog og horror gimmicks men denne trailer trækker ikke vildt meget nysgerrighed for mig. Pøj pøj med det
Den får 4-6/6 stjerner af alle danske anmeldere so far, så ser ud til nok at klare sig uden din opmærksomhed :) - men enig: traileren er lidt "gysertraditionel..."
Derfor det ikke altid er traileren man skal vurdere ud fra. Jeg har læst folk sige om filmen at den går direkte indi dansk filmhistorie.
@@SonictheCat1 Jeg har set den. Forstår ikke den hype, den får. Filmen tvinger sit budskab alt for hårdt (til min smag).
De valg, der bliver taget undervejs er så plothullede og urealistiske at det smider en ud af stemningen flere gange undervejs.
Derudover er der alle klassikerne:
- hovedpersonerne kunne nemt have undgået deres skæbne, hvis de blot havde snakket sammen (eksempel: mand ser myrdet dreng, men fortæller det ikke til konen?!)
- de bliver forfulgt af en morder, vælger at dele sig op
- lige pludselig intet signal til at ringe efter hjælp
Alt sammen fint nok og forventeligt af en standard gyser, men ikke ligefrem det man forventede med den omtale, den har fået.

We tell heroic stories to inspire ourselves but in our current wasteland of delusion and forgotten Christian values and morality, heroic troupes only make it easy for the domesticated citizen to lull himself to sleep deeper yet. To all the ppl saying the couple's sheepishness wasn't believable I'd say only one thing; 2020.
This film is so good u feel it in ur bones, in the moment of the brutally cruel resolution, it surprises u with cinematography, symbolism and beautiful music, it's the film reaching out, giving YOU the chance of redemption. Sometimes u need to show ppl the bitter end of the consequences of letting evil slip in, only then heroism might be restored.
It was the best movie with the worst ending.

I watched the trailer for the 2024 version coming out later this year, so I thought I would watch this original version. Well, I do hope the new version is better than this ridiculous nonsense. For some reason I had high hopes for this - but it totally let me down. The victims spent the second half of the movie making one bad/stupid decision after another, where it got to the point that I really didn't give a shit if they lived or died - i just didn't care. 🙄
And one of the main characters is an absolute dead ringer for Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool FC manager. Just saying..... 👍

I’m not impressed at that America remakes foreign-language films into English version right after the original. Why don’t they just watch the original????

Regret watching this movie. Left me with so much anger. It is so disturbing especially the ending. I dont want to spoil it , but the Husband Bijorn or whatever is his name is such a looser for just accepting whatever was happening to his wife and his daughter. I hated this movie. I am so angry 🙃

That is incorrect. I take it you've never seen propaganda films. Countless movies about Russians, Chinese, and others as the bad guys and look where we are now. It's the same thing. Those were about people, not animals or inanimate objects. If the EU wants to be strong and unified, they must not put out movies like this. The filmmaker should be punished.
