I'm from Brazil and yes! I've noticed instantly that was fish skin, it was invented here, but not that common (yet). Our public healthcare system still uses more cadaver skin, but recently we've sent a lot of those fish skin for Lebanon to treat the victims from the explosion that happened 2020. Also, there's no smell in the skin, it goes thru a cleaning process where the scales, muscular tissue, toxins and odor are removed :)
I was just coming on here to ask if Tilapia specifically is used to treat burns because of the abundance of collagen in it. I know it's used quite frequently for animals because it's non toxic if a bit is swallowed but I've heard excellent things about scar prevention & accelerated healing time in both animals & humans, glad I saw your comment

I appreciate how you point out how beautiful so many people are, and that a lot of times it's just not worth it to have surgery. It's always refreshing to meet a surgeon who focuses on other options before surgery.

❤yes I love that about his approach too he could easily tell people that they need even more procedures just to get money but he doesn't want to use plastic surgery this way he wants it to be an option and ultimately the patients decision but if a Dr is telling you that if you did this or that you'd look younger and prettier a person is more likely to be influenced by those types of comments and surgery can be dangerous and very painful more so for some than others but what is real bad is that they go through all of it thinking about how amazing everything will be and end up having complications sometimes or don't get the results they intended and need a second or possibly third surgery......when it's your face many things can be devastating like half your face becoming paralyzed or your eye is a little bit droopy you can even get amazing results and be in love with your body but you now have intense pain that's out of control. There's many people who had surgery that was never needed at all and just trust the Drs.❤

In the Netherlands we had a show called "Ugly duckling" where people with real disfigurements or bad cosmetic issues that were not covered by insurance or too expensive, could come on and get their cosmetics surgeries for free (everything was payed by adds and volunteerwork of the docters and advertisement of the clinics). It really wasn't about "not beautiful" as the name might suggest, but real disfigurements and body issues that were really heavy and depressing for these people were treated. If you see those people after, it wasn't a big show after everything was healed and "OMG LOOK AT HOW UGLY YOU WERE AND NOW-" but they got to see immediate after surgery how they looked and then at home or in the clinic after they healed. These were genuine emotions and people, not a big drama show for entertainment. In dutch, it is called "Lelijke eendjes", if you ever want to take a look at it!
Or just "pro bono" which many doctors forgot existed.
I'm 60 years old. Aging happens. I've aged fairly, and have never had plastic surgery. I can't imagine looking in the mirror and seeing a different face. I like the one I have. The wrinkles around my eyes show that I've laughed a lot. I like that.

when I was a kid, it was determined by my orthodontist, dentist, and the surgeons we saw that it was medically necessary for me to have jaw surgery. From what I've heard, it's not common to get the entire dental team to agree on something without any hesitation. It took the entire team and my parents to fight the insurance company to approve the surgery because the insurance company said that it was "just cosmetic" with no actual "medical need". I'm sure if you did a show that was pro bono for the patients, you could help a lot of people out who are being denied coverage for something that they genuinely need.
Brilliant and tyty!!! I'd give anything to fix my daughter's tummy after a colostomy when she was a 3 day old,three month premature. She is my heart,has battled cancer twice. she has the biopsy scar on her neck with keloid roping,as the hip to hip scar. I say I'd give anything but after all we have been thru, there is nothing left to give. we even ended up loosing our little horse farm of 30 years. but if pro Bono can help someone,anyone...our hearts would be filled with joy!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
The woman with the teeth - the show was Extreme Makeover. I remember that episode as her entire story was a heart breaking one of her family giving everything to her sister (including braces) and nothing to her. She looked like a model afterwards!
I've had a lot of plastic surgery after weight loss, including breast reduction, and the doctor left all my 'bits' in a bag for me to look after. Stomach, boobs, etc. It was fascinating to play with it all for a while, but I don't think that fetishist guy would enjoy it as much as he thinks he would ;D
I wish I asked my doctor. I wanted to know what my dense cancer breast looked like inside before or after they removed it. But I never asked as I thought they would think it was weird. I imagine my breast tissue was like stone, at least in the left side, since it was super dense. 😮
@@user-bv7mk8id5t it's kind of gross, but also fascinating. I had a huge sheet of excess skin removed and played with it for a while. Someone else didn't realise their bag of bits was in their bed, and slept with it for a couple of days until the nurses came to take it away...

I’ve had a (benign) fat tumor removed from my side when I was a kid, it was so fascinating to see it. They numbed my side up, had me lay down, and the entire time my mom was crying and sobbing like I was having something horrible done to me. I was telling her it’s not that bad at all, and that she needed to grow up. Anyways- They let me see the little guy, and it genuinely looked like a leech. Like, a big fat white leech. It was so fascinating that was trapped between my skin and muscle layers, and I wish I could have kept it. I’d have had it preserved in a jar.
Dr. Youn is such an amazing plastic surgeon. I love how he's all about health, and really seems to care about his patients, and doesn't really promote plastic surgery. He appreciates the natural beauty in people. ❤
I met him last year, strapped him in a roller coaster. I knew he looked familiar and when he got off I was like "I know you from somewhere...TikTok I think" and got a high five

Awwww! Dr. Youn! I love the idea of you having your own show to help those who cannot access your kind of services. You're such a sensitive and thoughtful person, I can only imagine the kind of empathy you would show while also sharing your gift with others. I hope you can make that happen...like Dr Pimple Popper, but maybe less gross. ✌🏼💜
True but also he doesn't take insurances either with his practice so it makes me wonder how much it'll cost with it being a show. I tried to go to him but they told me they don't accept insurances and i ended up going to a different surgeon who botched my surgery. I hope he'll accept it for the show
@@stephanieann6622 Well he was saying it would be 'pro-bono', as in for free, so no insurance needs to be involved nor would they have to pay.

Everyone does with the front of the tongue. It's the natural position for the tongue. With mewing, I'm pretty sure you push the back of the tongue upwards. So the part that goes into your throat. Doesn't feel as natural. Your throat is almost closed when you do that.
Def not me. Normally my tongue rests fully on the bottom of my mouth. Been doing mewing for almost a year with no difference. I heard mewing can work in young people, but when you stop growing, its to late anyway. It does make a difference in my under chin tho.

@@plumdutchess ooooohhh I see. I didn’t think of the back of the tongue. But a majority of my tongue rests at the roof of my mouth (actually touching about all of my mouth) With the tip resting behind my bottom teeth, usually. I think I have a small mouth lmao 😅
For mewing the part that becomes "permanent" is just that you get used to holding yourself in a different way when relaxed. Kind of like how posture makes a big difference. It doesn't actually change your body just how you hold it. In 2003 we used to learn how to walk around keeping our cores tensed to look as thin and flat as possible too.
My tongue is always on the roof of my mouth. I cant seem to not do that. Other people aren’t like this?!?! Haha

My tongue did not most of my life and years ago my dental hygienist actually told me it should rest on the top of my mouth, as it was pushing my bottom teeth out, and actually taught me to do so. It took practice.
Having some sort of show showing before and after a must needed surgery for deserving people would be amazing!!! I think people getting braces would solve most confidence issues in the world just having nicer teeth. But some people might be insecure with their nose shape after an injury, etc. Would love to see something!

It was definitely a joke. He was trying to be creepy on purpose. At the end of the vid, when he hears the police siren, he pretends to be scared that the police are coming after him (presumably because he's a serial killer or someone who mutilates bodies).

I personally hate the whole puffed up lip thing. I have really tiny lips and I like them.
I have full lips, but I think small lips are cute and can look just as great. There's a lot of personality in natural lips that can get erased with too much filler.

Anything is more attractive to me than sausage lips.

my grandmother has lymphadema and congestive heart failure, so i change her compression stockings every day. if she goes a day without having them on, her calves and feet swell up like balloons
My mom had lymphedema and wore those compression bandages on both her legs. I helped her wrap her legs in the early days before it got easier for her to be able to do it herself. My heart hurts for people who suffer from it 💔

Dr. Youn, I'm a Caucasian woman (31) and had to have my gallbladder removed last October after developing Cholestasis for my third pregnancy in a row! Well, the 3 incision sites, as well as the removal site at my belly button, have dark pink keloid scars! 😭 My doctor was baffled by this, but gave no suggestions or explanations as to why my scars have keloid. It sounds silly, but I tell my husband that I feel like a cat with extra "nipples" on my abdomen! 😭 I literally cry about it. I'm currently pregnant with my 4th baby and I feel embarassed at every ultrasound and have to explain it's from my gallbladder removal.
Is there a possibility you might have EDS? Problems with hyperflexible joints and soft, stretchy skin? People who have that often have issues with scarring.
There is absolutely nothing for you to be embarrassed about. Medical professionals shouldn't be so surprised. Just tell them the facts.
I think that Dr. Pimple popper referred a pt to a DERM that specialized in keloids. Maybe you can reach out to a similar derm
Caucasian= native of the Caucasus region of the world. Northern European diaspora is not “Caucasian”. And even in regards to skull shape south Asians are “Caucasian”. Americans misuse terms which was pushed by a Northern European supremacist in attempts to make the white race appear more populous than it was and is. If you go to Northern European countries no one is calling themselves “Caucasians”. It’s an erroneous misappropriated term
@sharonsd951 It absolutely infuriates me that they removed your gallbladder. Especially as young as you are.. You can no longer digest fats. You will need enzymes to digest these fats properly. Ox bile. The only one. You will have to take this for the rest of your life. No the plant enzymes are not going to help you break down your fats...
Insulin resistance is a terrible place to be. For your body as well as for your organs. Insulin, shrink the brain. That is an absolute fact. Here's another fact. Ketones are very vital to our brain as well as the function the proper function of our bodies..
Being insulin resistant can affect so many things in our body. Your pancreas as well as your gallbladder. I get infuriated whenever a doctor removes my clients gallbladder..
2013 I was helping an individual. Self-induced She was a very heavy drinker. Found a lot of depression in her life. Things that the family needed to discuss That's one of the first things that we work on. What is the foundation, of this whole problem..
Then. The week I come to visit. Fearful, she has her gallbladder removed. She listened to the doctor. I scolded the hell out of the doctor. But I know how to make things work. I know how to help you when that is removed..
Her bilirubin was 16.9 dementia state. Her mind was not working well. This was from herself induced drinking. I use this method for both individuals whether it is drinking induced and/or hepatitis. These individuals cannot methylate. I would say 97% of my clients can't methylate. This goes hand in hand with many individuals. MTHFR SNP gene mutation. These individuals if they don't have the proper folate in the proper B12 cannot methylate properly. You are not going to get this in a vegan source you only get it from bioavailable nutrients such as beef liver. Many that cannot handle eating beef liver at its rawist state. You're very lucky that today we have freeze dried liver in capsules.
This has the proper folate the proper B12 The proper CoQ10 enzyme which is food for your heart. The one muscled that never stops. Beta blockers deadly It blocks the absorption of CoQ10. Funny how, when they came out with this information. CoQ10 that is sold as a supplement went skyrocketing in price. And here's the sad part. That is not the bioavailable nutrient that can actually be used properly because if you can't methylate you can't turn that into the proper CoQ10. Same within folic acid. You can't turn that into the proper folate.
It must be bioavailable from an animal...
So. I put her on a diet, clean ketogenics/carnivore diet. We kept her carbohydrates and I'm not joking. We never went above 10 g of carbohydrate. More than less we would keep them as low as possible. I had to add in, ox bile. Before every meal. Very important. Because if you cannot break down the fat to absorb the fat. Fats are your friend fat does not make you fat. All of our sexual steroidal hormones are made off of this fat as well as neurotransmitters. And don't get them confused such as hormone and/or neurotransmitter, one being for the brain the other being for the organs. I'm sorry but these are interchangeable they are all hormones.. pregnenolone is your number one steroidal sexual hormone. Repeat steroidal. Very very key within inflammation...
As well, if you're having trouble digesting your foods and breaking down your fats because the dysfunction of your pancreas and gallbladder.. I realize your hormones are out of whack. You also do not have the proper gut microbiome. We work on all of these things at all the same time. I help seed the gut with pre and probiotic. I make sure ox bile is before every meal. Fats are key. Within 3 weeks in 2 days I was able to lower her bilirubin from 16.9 to 0.2 considered undetectable. Where I had a meeting, with 18 internist and 14 nutritionist. Where I also educated them, this is the same method that I use for individuals that have hepatitis as well. These individuals have a methylation problem. These individuals are insulin resistant. These individuals cannot function properly because to actually find the key to this problem we've got a backtrack. I looked at the doctor and I scolded him because he did not like me telling him how to do his job. I said if he would prefer he could leave the room. So others can learn. I apologize to him because I know he's been over $400,000 to be at the Pinnacle of who he is as a doctor. But it's pretty sad when an herbalist comes in and tells you how to do your job. I can understand how that feels bad. He left the room I don't care. And I scolded, his attitude and the way he treated me. As well as, reminded every person I was educating. This is my client right here. These are her blood labs. This is her hormonal levels. This is the function of our digestion of our gut as well as, none of you are checking for these peoples inability to methylate. So we have another test to show you. Which I helped my client set this up. MTHFR $50 test. And what do you know I nailed it. Yes indeed. I'm not going to tell you her mutations that's her business...
I scolded the doctors, because if someone has a high bilirubin. Your first clue is, they have issue with methylation. The very fact that any of these individuals are given any medication, vitamins, minerals anything that is synthesized. Such as almost everything that's on the market today. And I said be very leery of giving an individual will take a whole food vitamin. Some of those liquid vitamins that are proclaimed to be made from whole foods. That's a lot of oxalate. Can your client handle oxalates? Which we can go into detail how that aligns with fibromyalgia. We're going to learn a lot today. And all of this encircles my client that every one of the doctors separated but never kept everything together. Here is where medicine fails their clients. None of you are taking into consideration everything that works together. Removing the gallbladder. No one told her that she would have to eat enzymes to break down her fats. For me to get her back on her level that she needs to get on. It is very vital that her body break down these fats. I said you are doing a disservice to your client you are doing a disservice to yourself even if you are going through these problems. Fibromyalgia and oxalate issues go hand in hand. We had her calcium oxalates tested and what do you know. Skyrocket. So we have, MTHFR SNP gene mutation she cannot methylate properly. Having her on these medication list that you have here. These are all synthetics. They are going to affect her in a psychological way as well as get trapped in her cells where she cannot pull that toxin from her cell without the proper folate and/or B12..

I have keloid (and hypertrophic) scarring from open heart surgery. It's kind of painful and itchy all the time, I could see why someone could get desperate enough to try to get it to come off themselves in such a way.
I'm a sallow olive skinned person due to Mediterranean ancestry and a lack of sunlight, and it's been a little weird to see how many medical professionals face crack and say something like "strange, only black people get keloids."

I'm mixed Greek and black and I have been fortunate enough to not have keloid but I did inherit the body hair. I'm biologically female and can easily grow the beard of Zeus 😫
Which is problematic since most people prefer thier lovers to be as slick as a dolphin and I am basically a small, angry looking sasquatche unless I remove a full gorillas worth of hair every 3 days or so. Seriously it's fucking exhausting.
@@alchemicmercury have you tried waxing, electrolysis, or laser treatments? I can see where that would be annoying and time consuming for you. Plus, excessive hair growth on your face can mess with your confidence. Sorry, that’s my two cents.

The Swan was on the air when i was 13 & i watched it religiously- completely oblivious to how badly it was screwing up my self-esteem. it subconsciously drilled the idea that to be happy & celebrated you have to be beautiful and to be beautiful you have to have all these people cutting you up and stitching you back together. it didn’t help that back then every celebrity was either battling anorexia or making a career out of it, the early 00’s were toxic as hell
I’d love to see a reality show of your own 😢 The bone under my maxila did not grow the way it was supposed to, so I have to do a orthognatic surgery with a rhinoplasty, but I’m Brazilian and the cost of the surgery is HUGE.

This spring I suffered from a 2nd to 3rd degree burns on my legs. It was so traumatizing and so painful. I would have loved some tilapia skin during that time.
When injecting fillers, wouldn't drawing back on the syringe to make sure you're not in a blood vessel be the smartest thing to do?
@I am Linda~ that sounds logical. I think Dr Youn was emphasizing Derm, Plastic, P.A., trained injector because if you go to these “MediSpa” centers and see they are reasonably priced and decide on fillers it could be really detrimental. They often advertise that procedures are “under Doctor supervision”, but they fail to mention the Doctor is not on site. You don’t really know who is working on you.
Trying to aspirate for blood (to ensure you are not injecting into a vein) is no longer considered best practice since you inadvertently move slightly when re-injecting which means your injecting into a different place then where you first aspirated
I've had a few keloids. I treated them while they are smaller with asprin paste. Once or twice a day for a few days. Idk if it works for everyone yet mine went away and haven't come back after 6 years.

I thought mewing was more about facial projection than lifting the neck. I read in some studies that always having your tongue rest at the bottom of your mouth (as well as sleeping with your mouth open) can actually cause a loss of facial projection. I don't think people do it for the "neck lift".

I won't lie, the young lady in the second clip that got a lot of surgeries at once. Literally every single one are the ones I would like done on my face. I feel like I look so tired and aged with my eyes turned down and the distance between my nose and lip being so far it feels like everything kinda hangs....
I love her results, I do wonder if getting them all at once is a good idea though? Does it do less trauma in the long run? Should you get one or two done and see how you feel first before getting anything else? So many questions.
I'm not a plastic surgeon, but I believe there is a reason most doctors do them one at a time. Recovering from multiple surgeries at once is extra hard on the body, might cause dissociation when you don’t recognise yourself, and if one of them goes wrong, you'll be dealing with complications or corrective surgeries while in recovery from other surgeries, not to mention that infection can spread to the entire face at that point.
Also, there’s a chance these “issues” you’re seeing kind of feed into each other together, and after correcting some, you won’t even want all the surgeries you think you need now. She had A LOT done at once, if you think your eyes look tired and the space between your nose and lip is too long, that’s just two. Get one, heal, mentally acclimate to your changing appearance, and then the other. One of the reasons Dr. Youn criticised the reality show was that they didn’t see themselves during the process when they had multiple cosmetic surgeries. Again, that can cause shock, disassociation when you look in the mirror and don’t recognise yourself, and mental illnesses.
Also not a plastic surgeon, but I totally agree with Jasmin^ - one of my biggest fears with plastic surgery is not recognizing myself afterward. I would want to look like a better version of myself, not a whole other person, so if that's a concern then doing procedures incrementally and giving yourself time to get used to the changes is better for mental health.

I cannot count the number of times she stitched me and my brother up, wrapped up a couple of broken bones with splints, and gave us aspirin for toothaches...
That's how she was left to raise her 6 little brothers and sisters 😬.
I'm not upset about it now, I learned a lot from my mother, and she is gone.
I used nail clippers. My mom paid my a few cents to remove them from her shoulders and neck. Oh and gray hair. Lol.
Having a burn injury as a child stands out in my memories. Daily dressing changes yanking at my skin. So glad someone is making advances in burn care.

One of my best friends wanted me to be in the delivery room with her. Day of delivery I was NOT into it. The reality of the situation hit me. FF a few hours and she wasn’t properly dilating. She ended up having a C section so only my friend and her hubby were allowed in the operating room. Mom and baby, now 25, did great. Best ending ever.
PS my brother almost passed out when his first was born. The doctor made him leave the room. So maybe it’s a family thing to be squeamish 😂

When I was in labour at one point one of the doctors or nurses (can’t remember) asked me if I wanted a mirror to and I quote “so you can watch!” The face I must have made because I didn’t even say no and then took it away. Bro I do NOT need to know what’s going on down there. That’s only for doctors eyes and gods eyes lol

My husband waited in the waiting room with all 3 of our kids. He doesnt have the stomach for any of that and we have to be intimate later in life so my mom cut all 3 of my babies cords and held my hand through it all. Call us old fashioned but it worked for us. Just seeing bits of it through those big shiny lights was enough for me and it was happening with my own body! I dont expect any man to be able to witness that if I cant myself. But I do have respect for those that do. They are troopers.
I don’t think anyone expects them to be looking at it from the doctors perspective, just standing by you holding your hand and most of what’s happening is covered 😅

Mewing is far more than lifting that area. Mewing is for pulling your lower jaw forward so you don't have that weak dropped chin. Over time the muscles start pulling the jaw to the proper position so you get weak chins into strong ones and have better breathing and less snoring etc

My tongue is always on the roof of my mouth and I do not have a nice trimmed chin-to-neck joint. I don't believe "mewing" has any real lasting effect and only even works in the moment for those who don't keep their tongues up there anyway.
I've only heard of fish skins used for animals who suffered burns. I've never heard of them used on humans but it makes sense.

Asking out of curiosity, I've had a septoplasty for access to a Sphenoidotomy. Maybe a video on how you decide if operation is the best option for a patient (not just me)? So many moving parts with the body it's complicated 😅
Good question, I also have heds and I’d imagine that it’s not a great idea bc it takes forever to heal our skin and joints. I got a tiny cat scratch months ago that I didn’t really even notice but it’s still a red scar. Also bruising, that’d be an issue

I had one almost flat breast and the other one was severall sizes bigger. Where i live you can get those kinds of surgeries for free. So i got it fixed. I was awake and dozing off during surgery. One time i woke up and asked , what are you doin? (I was in a great mood all druged up lol) she said, i am putting in the implant. I started crying. She asked if i was in pain. I said noooo im just so happy!!! Getting that fixed ment so much too me. I could finallt wear the clothes that i wanted. Go swimming with actuall bathingsuits and not clothes. And i could finally look in the mirror without hating what i saw. I think making a show like that would be great. So many people are not as lucky as i was and can get it for free. To get something like that fixed is pretty life changing.

As someone has has struggled with dental issues my whole life, they are not a cosmetic issue ever. Having misaligned and crowded teeth is painful and can cause other health issues.

I appreciate you developing a probono type work. I was told years after my kid that I had diastasis recti causing my back pain but tummy tuck was the only way to fix it but I can’t afford it 🤷🏻♀️ so I am just living with it. Keep doing great work.
Omg, I had to look to see if I wrote this comment, because I too have a very bad case of diastasis rectii. I use a walker because of debilitating back pain and the inability to walk upright for any distance. I literally bend at the waist and walk, looking like I'm falling forward. I went to see a plastic surgeon and he told me that I'd have to lose weight first. I've lost 39 lbs thus far and I have a little more to go before I can have the surgery. If you have insurance and it's medically necessary, they can get approval thru your insurance. I've been seeing a specialist for over 20 years for this issue and it's only gotten worse after having 4 back surgeries and an implant implanted, called the Nevro HF-10. It cuts down on pain while seated but walking is extremely difficult without my walker. I force myself to not use a walker in the home, to try to keep my back strong but I strain so badly, it's exacerbating the diastasis rectii. If they brought my stomach muscles together, it should make walking a LOT easier. I would consult with a plastic surgeon, as they are the only ones who do this corrective surgery (I was told) and see what they can do for you. I need to go thru 9 wks of physical therapy first, to strengthen my back and then after the weight loss and therapy, I should be able to have insurance cover the procedure becuase walking independently, is weighing on having this surgery. Good luck, I absolutely know what you're going through! My heart goes out to you. I wish I could have this doctor do my surgery, but I found an excellent doctor closer to where I live, whom I trust implicitly.

Fun fact- I had 3-4 skin tags and I literally just ripped them off. They were annoying to look at and made me feel self conscious, so I pinched it with my fingernails since they were long enough to act like scissors and I just dug both fingernails into it on each side and just gripped it and ripped it. It didn’t hurt 1 bit. Just a little bit of blood came out of each and a few weeks later it’s like they weren’t even there in the first place. I never thought I’d watch a video where I could actually bring that up lol, but there we go. 😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Mewing reminded me of when my grandmother told me too say AEIOU very animated with my face and she said that was how she had such a great chin and neckline. I personally think she was just the only one in the family that didn’t inherit the Turkey neck the rest of us got. I have said the vowels over and over and not even a slight change in my chin and neckline 😂
As someone who's not a doctor nor that well-versed in medicine, but who has done mewing and has seen some small results, mewing does work to an extent. It's not like ''do this for few months and you have permanently better neck line'' no, it's more like a workout: if you do it regularly, your neckline will be better, and some of the muscles in your mouth area (obviously tongue, but probably few others as well) will also get stronger which is always a plus. But if you do it for few months, see some results and then give up, then you're obviously going to lose the results. Even then, it works more in the sense that your mouth will get more used to having tongue on the roof of your mouth. So it will be easier (and I'd say it even feels more natural) to have tongue on the roof of your mouth for longer time which obviously improves the neckline. But that is active, and not passive improvement.
I love my natural thick lips. It's insane people will go so far.
