Little River Band are so good, and they have a bunch of great songs too! "Lonesome Loser" "Night Owls" "The Other Guy" "Cool Change" just to name a few!!
This is the absolute truth : on the morning of December 2, 1982, I was getting dressed for school, listening to the radio in my room. Suddenly, my 2 much-younger sisters raced into my room. Instantly, I noted two things, though both shocked me -- my sisters were crying and my dad was yelling. I was 15 1/2, a sophomore in high school, and could count on one hand how many times I had heard them arguing with raised voices. I was in shock and time seemed to get caught in a surrealistic warp as I tried to make sense of what was going on. I began to hush and comfort my little sisters and then, my dad entered my room. I had just put my earrings in my ears. My dad's coffee was in one hand and I could see the steam rising off it. Honestly, I don't remember what he said or what I did, I just recall him exploding, slapping me very hard across my face. I know I didn't do anything to deserve it. I felt the hot stinging on my neck, ear, and face. My earring back poked into my neck and was bleeding a bit. Then, I realized that his hot coffee had splashed on me, too. That morning, my dad was accusing my mother of cheating on him and ... guess what song played as he left my room ? LRB's The Other Guy ... 😐 I had always enjoyed the song (along with Lonesome Loser and Take It Easy on Me) and I still do. But, it will always take me back to that pivotal day ...
And The Little River Band had great success in the US for 26+ years. I am from the Netherlands, had 2 albums, then immigrated to Australia and feel so much pride calling them ours. They are such a great band and live they are just amazing. LOVE them to death.
@ThunderInTheSun Haha me too! He's just soooo likeable too. Great family man, great person who respects his band/singers, and is always so kind to the fans...
@@xaj1543 Yeah, Glen Shorrick really made LRB. John Farnham was a peerless solo artist but too bright really to be in a band. Lyn W Hi Lyn, yes I’m an American. While I remember hearing a few of Little River Bands songs on the radio way back when, we didn’t get much news on its members so I’ll admit never having heard of John until about a year ago. I had the great luck to see them twice in concert. The first time was when they were on their first tour at the Santa Barbara County Bowl. Late 70's. Such wonderful interaction with the audience. One of my all time favorite bands

Little River Band (LRB) are a rock band originally formed in Melbourne, Australia, in March 1975. The band achieved commercial success in both Australia and the United States. They have sold more than 30 million records; six studio albums reached the top 10 on the Australian Kent Music Report albums chart including Diamantina Cocktail (April 1977) and First Under the Wire (July 1979), which both peaked at No. 2. Nine singles appeared in the top 20 on the related singles chart, with "Help Is on Its Way" (1977) as their only number-one hit. Ten singles reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Reminiscing" their highest, peaking at No. 3. Only First Under the Wire appeared in the top 10 albums on the Billboard 200.

What a classic aussie band! I was only out in the little country town called "Little river" a couple of months ago...the band was named after the town. Lead singer John Farnham is still a legend in Australia and still a phenomenal performer at the age of 71!
You need to check out more of a John Farnham’s music. This video is from s 1983 HBO special. I fell in love with “The Voice” right then. He still sounds like that 35 years later.
I'm Black and I grew up on this music lol! My Dad was a musician and my mom just liked "white" music. I laugh now when I think about it but music is truly beautiful and needed to calm the 'savage beast" inside us all lol! (This was good but the original is better)
Where to start...Oh My God! I am a guy who has listened to, and really liked the Little River Band, but was never "wowed" by them. I had always thought of them as a group who were better than what they were given credit for, and just assumed that I was part of a large minority of listeners who was convinced that they might have found more commercial success if they only they had the ability to churn out a higher quantity of likeable tunes when they were in their prime. Then, I saw this video of them performing a live version of Reminiscing, and I was utterly blown away by how insanely good John Farnham was when he sang this song. During the time period that this video was recorded, I was always of the mindset that a studio recording of a song would always be vastly superior to the live version of the same tune...until I watched, and listened to this video. Wow, Wow, Wow! Farnham simply blew me away with his vocals on this song, so very impressive! I am now a bigger fan!
Had to hit your site again... for your facial expression and scratching your head. LOVE IT DUDE!!. This is one bad man. Just discovered him 6 months ago. I’m 46 too. Sad, rt? This dude can tear a mic up
One of the best Australian bands ever! I was lucky enough to be near the front of a concert in which LRB played on the steps of the Opera House in Sydney with an audience of 100,000. Those guys were incredible live. They had that ability to hold an audience in their hands and take us places like few performers can and when it happens it is pure magic. I remember being part of absolute screaming for encores. They were magic. That accent is pure Australian drawl.

Matt_man000,check out The Little River Band - Reminiscing 1983 vid.Farnhams vocals even a bit better.
Wow, that boy could sing! Heard this on the radio for a while growing up but didn't pay much attention. Thanks for sharing.
Please react to Baker Street by Jerry Rafferty Please Please Please! It’s from the 70’s wit some sexy sax!
no dsoubt great sax lines i love it
Gerry Rafferty
Because of Gerry Rafferty every commercial for the next ten years had a sax in it
Story goes the guy who played sax on that track received a one off payment of $50
Jeffery Chavez yes! Pleeease!
Love this song...also from my era...Thank you so much for your reactions...I look forward to them ALL...
You need to check out more of a John Farnham’s music. This video is from s 1983 HBO special. I fell in love with “The Voice” right then. He still sounds like that 35 years later.
I had forgotten all about this group. Thanks for bringing them back MRM.
I'm Black and I grew up on this music lol! My Dad was a musician
and my mom just liked "white" music. I laugh now when I think about it
but music is truly beautiful and needed to calm the 'savage beast" inside us all lol!
(This was good but the original is better)
I like all music, motown was an awesome label too. Love the classics, new music just don't have it.
AGREED
If it's good it's good!
I keep coming back to this, love this live version, gives me goosebumps all over ❤❤❤
Need to check out more from this band there really good “Little River Band”
John shows his character, humour, jazz skill and love of singing in Reminiscing
Had no idea john did this song and was so funky, im a kiwi living in aus now but this man is an amazing song writer and a briliant singer!!!
Check out the voice by John Farnham he’s the lead singer! Australian legend 🇳🇿
And a POME.
Kate_etaK Smith I thought this didn’t sound like the original singer! This guy butchered it!
Have seen this group live 4 times love love love them!!!
this song is amazing. I’m adding to my playlist also
This song was my introduction to LRB, and formed my love for their sound. The band NEVER disappointed.
One of my favorite bands. They put on a fun concert back in the day. I enjoyed your reaction. BTW white folks did the bump too.
Had to hit your site again... for your facial expression and scratching your head. LOVE IT DUDE!!. This is one bad man. Just discovered him 6 months ago. I’m 46 too. Sad, rt? This dude can tear a mic up

Please react to Bad Company - Ready For Love DKRC 1974..
Anything by Bad Company is awesome.
Bad Company by Bad Company from the album Bad Company - Rules!!!!!
Little River Band was big when,I was in high school. They always played this at the school dances. Love it
They are good, aren't they? John Farnham has a beautiful voice and is an excellent singer - and the song is just great.
