    Appreciate the detailed descriptions.
Take a breath between sentences... please 😁
Sounds like it was edited to make this into one continuous sentence.

I have a V8 large hei distributor with a slightly different coil housing. ('86 305 TPI motor)
It looks like you reused your housing on this application.
My new coil comes with new housing which is why I took my old one off, and then found a grease reservoir underneath, with old dried out grease.
What is this grease? I think it must migrate up the shaft to lube the top of the shaft. Will simple marine wheel bearing grease be okay?
If anyone knows, I would be grateful for your comments.
    Thanks

Hello, great video by the way. I have an 87 Chevrolet Silverado. The problem that I have is that it runs real good as long as I don't turn it off. After it's been turned off, I have to wait 30 minutes in order for it to turn back on. When that happens, it cranks and it does have spark . I can't hear the pump nor there is a pulse on the injectors. I have replaced, fuel pump and relay, ignition control module (twice) coil and pickup coil. Beginning to think that it might be the ignition control modules, read stories where people changed them 3 or 4 times before they got a good one. Any ideas ?

Yes, I replaced the new Delphi fuel pump from Autozone with a Ac Delco fuel pump. Now it works fine. Starts right away every time. So the Delphi fuel pump work, but it supply enough psi once it was hot. It really threw me off because the Delphi fuel pump was only 2 months old. Ac Delco is more expensive, but it worth it. Hopefully that works for you too.

@@Superflyssrs Is it still running good? im having a similar issue! im getting fuel to tbi but not out of injectors! and when it runs sometimes stalls out! new fuel pump only 6 months old. other times it runs jst fine!!!!!

@@trucreationz6992 yes, it starts every time. I recommend the Ac Delco. If that doesn't work, try replacing the distributor. A while back I replaced the coil, the ignition module, cap & rotor, etc and I wasn't getting anything out of the injectors like you. My problems was the pick up coil. So I took out the distributor and the pick up coil inside the distributor was very rusty. I just went a ahead and replaced the distributor and that took care of that. It's not expensive and easy to install and I'm not a mechanic.

Thanks for the video, why did you replaced the pickup coil?
I've always had an old 350 Chevy with a 650 double pumper Holley and a HEI distributor.... Runs perfect... Now I have this 350 TBI.... what a load of shit.... I rebuilt the engine. .. It idle perfectly... Had the problem before the engine was overhauled... when I want to accelerate... it is very sluggish and almost sounds like misfiring... Struggle to pass a Smart on the hi way... my 74 Camaro had more power... I replaced the injectors, overhauled the complete throtle body, replaced the EGR, EGR solinoid, MAP sensor, Idle jet, throtle position sensor, rotor, distribuler cap, plug leads, spark plugs, tempreture censor, electronic controle module... But still, no power.... must I replace the distributer as well? I am so sick of this TBI... Love my truck, but have the feeling to drive her as fast as she can run at this moment into a wall!!!!

Is this the issue if the truck just dies? Only way it starts up is to shut the truck off, open the door then try to start it. Thanks

Nice video. What were the symptoms that you were experiencing that caused you to replace this part?

    • @KingsWeldingandAutomotive
      @KingsWeldingandAutomotive  7 місяців тому

Crank no start. At first it would just randomly shut off at low idle. Then startup right away but you have to give it some gas to keep it alive. Eventually it stopped turning on. Resulting in a crank no start

Ok sounds like different symptoms than mine. Mine will back fire amd jerk going up hills sometimes usually when its hot out but not almost the time. Thanks again

You don’t have to remove the distributor just saying I’ve done several of these without pulling the dizzy

Bro, all you had to do was to unscrew the 2 bolts from the cap, remove the cap, unscrew the 2 bolts from the Distributor pick up coil, then unplug the connector. Then just put everything back in reverse.

So the pickup coil can be replaced without needing to remove the distributor from the engine? I'm asking for a '89 Chevy 350 TBI motor.

Thats for the ignition control module. The pickup coil is different and he did it correctly.

    • @soupflood

No, bro... You must be talking about the ICM, the black thing screwed at the bottom of the distributor with several wires going to it.
But I would've liked it if it were that easy to change the pickup coil.
