This is what I imagine genius inventors like Nikola Tesla and Leonardo DaVinci do to come up with their genius inventions. These tips were great for the people working on their business. And like that famous quote says; I fear not the man who practices 10,000 kicks once, but the man who practices one kick 10,000 times.
Thanks for watching, Al-Sharif! I hope the ideas serve you well in your work and in your business. I think you might be on to something when it comes to Nikola Tesla and DaVinci. Tesla would imagine building his inventions in his head before writing anything down or even creating a prototype.
@@josephdwarrenTesla did imagine them to the detail without making prototypes, all in his head. My question would be what would be the process? I feel like he used boredom as you discussed AND hypnagogia (alpha & delta) brain states to be the most creative. For example, he only used to sleep around 4 hours daily and in a polyphasic sleep schedule. This likely gave him a lot more frequency than the average person to get into the "dreamy state". Thomas Edison used a similar tactic. He would take naps and would sleep with a ball on his hand. When he drifted asleep the ball would hit the metal plate or ground and wake him up. I wonder if any other thing was involved...
@@Alex-ns6hj Tesla probably had off the charts spatial and visual intelligence as well, and a level of drive that most people do not possess. That sleep schedule probably had something to do with it as well. Great point! I've tried that napping technique before, and honestly I just fell back asleep lol. There is something to be said for using the state of mind after sleep, though. Really well made video and one of the most important advices of this day and age. While we have a seemingly infinite number of artists and creators, 95% of the internet landscape seems like a copy of a copy of a copy. I think being present on every social media platform and being online too much turns you into a complete NPC. We need to find back to our true nature in every aspect of life
ive noticed that, i dont spend as much time with m thoughts as i used to then get frustrated tht i dont hve many ideas. now whenever i get distrctednby mindless entertainment it eels like y rain is paused and so is my growth.
Same here, Freedom. I deleted TikTok off my phone for this reason. At first I thought it was just distracting, but I realized it was also sapping my creativity and motivation for the day. Thanks for watching!
What an introspective video Joseph. You’re completely right, we’re constantly being stimulated. I have withdrawn myself currently from most social media and I’ve found myself being so much more creative. However even now all I have is UA-cam and audiobooks, I’m still doing far to much input instead of output. I feel the need to ram my brain with knowledge but this as much as helping, does and is limiting my creativity. I’m going to try reducing myself to this and spending more time in boredom. Not a sentence I thought I would ever say ahah
Thanks for sharing your perspective, Samuel! I'm always trying to strike the right balance between input and output. I love reading, but even that can sometimes get in the way of getting the main thing done. And it's so much easier to read books than to create! I hope spending more time in boredom serves you well. Thanks for watching and for the thoughtful comment, brother 🔥
After encircling so many self improvement videos , this is really the one I found most effective , considering current situations of decreased attention spans and whatnot boredom is the way to cure it all . Keep up the good work sir , you have our support 😊
i have a list of things i can do or think deeply whenever i'm bored, which is not include anything like mindless scrolling, watching or reading, listening to music or podcast, etc. it really increase my creativity bcs i feel like i'm living in the moment more.
Whenever I put myself on a no-screen-diet I experience the same effect. Apparently my mind needs to solve problems, and see interesting visuals, so when there is no youtube to fill that hunger, my mind starts thinking about a real task. It is uncomfortable, so a few rest or cheat days with more leisure and entertainment can make it more durable.
Earl Nightingale always preached this back in the day, that was when i mastered the art of boredom. It's the second superpower I've got outside invisibility. How do you master the art you might wonder, it's your ability to think. Master Thinking and Boredom will be your ally.
I grew up in the 80s-90s and I'm so glad I had the chance to be "bored" so often, happily filling my mind with imagination, ideas, books and just soaking in the beauty of nature, fully present. Sure, there was TV (lots of it) and I had a commodore 64 to play with (still lots haha), but there was balance and my brain wasn't so overloaded with stimuli like it is so easily today. I am now trying to mindfully recreate that mental "silence" from time to time and it is so enjoyable to just let myself be and see what happens
I'm glad I grew up in simpler times as well. Everything is designed to be hyper-stimulating nowadays, and it really takes a conscious effort to make space for silence. Kudos to you for getting it done and finding joy in the process. Thanks for watching, and for the thoughtful comment! 🔥

That's great video Joseph. But I wish you discussed the main, which is how to resist the urge to waste time when you're bored. Because it's easy doing meaningless thing like using social media than actually doing something useful.
Writing down ideas is really important. I'm a maladaptive daydreamer and most of the stuff I used to imagine would just be gone the next day 😅 Even if you think about a good idea a lot and don't forget it, its first emergence is always the most exciting and detailed impression. It's better to act on a good idea while the excitement is fresh and finish what you start than to wait for a better one and end up amusing yourself with 20 good ideas.
Great point, Paixi! I agree. The practice of finishing what you start is so important because you learn a lot in that process. It's so easy to get swept up in new ideas, though. 😅 Thanks for watching 🔥🔥🔥
My own personal problem with this is when I get a really good Idea during an MDD episode that is super detailed vibrant and unfolding right before my eyes when I write it down or voice record myself explaining it it's as if the spark diminishes and then I leave it to rot in the archives also it triggers me to abandon that scene and makes me create another world 🥲

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Senne! My friends used to joke that I was a psycho because I like to go on runs without headphones. Music is okay from time to time, but it's great to give your mind the time and space it needs to come up with creative solutions and ideas. Thanks for watching 🔥🔥
Algorithm works like magic to this video. Glad that I found this hidden gem. ❤ keep it up, Joseph
The cut at 5:11 is hilarious. Either he pissed himself laughing or was mad embarrassed about saying “aye”
LOL, thanks for watching! I was cracking up because the joke was so cheesy.
I found a soulmate :) and I feel like every sentence you said was intentional, like if you were asking yourself "do I really mean it" while scripting. good job!
Maciej! That really means a lot. Thank you 🔥
When I was bored as a kid my parents always said boredom was healthy. But I never understood why. Thank you for this video u inspired me to be bored more and now I feel more okay with being bored as well
Love the library background!
Alden! Thanks for watching 🔥
Really well made video and one of the most important advices of this day and age.
While we have a seemingly infinite number of artists and creators, 95% of the internet landscape seems like a copy of a copy of a copy.
I think being present on every social media platform and being online too much turns you into a complete NPC.
We need to find back to our true nature in every aspect of life
So true, Zisouh! 💯 Thanks for watching 🔥🔥
Thank you 😇🙏🏻
ive noticed that, i dont spend as much time with m thoughts as i used to then get frustrated tht i dont hve many ideas. now whenever i get distrctednby mindless entertainment it eels like y rain is paused and so is my growth.
Same here, Freedom. I deleted TikTok off my phone for this reason. At first I thought it was just distracting, but I realized it was also sapping my creativity and motivation for the day. Thanks for watching!
As a Canadian I approve of that "eh...."
LOL, appreciate you! 🤠
THANK YOU SO MUCH, FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! This is just what I needed to hear❤
After encircling so many self improvement videos , this is really the one I found most effective , considering current situations of decreased attention spans and whatnot boredom is the way to cure it all .
Keep up the good work sir , you have our support 😊
Hello Agraj! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching 🔥
i have a list of things i can do or think deeply whenever i'm bored, which is not include anything like mindless scrolling, watching or reading, listening to music or podcast, etc. it really increase my creativity bcs i feel like i'm living in the moment more.
Do nothing but the things you need to do is genius
Appreciate you, Wulk! Thanks for watching :)
I often listen to lofi music in reduced voice and it also helps me think better
When you put it that way you're absolutely right. This is great advice I'm applying this to my life.
Thanks, icrashout! I hope the ideas serve you well 🔥
This is one of the best videos I have watched recently!
Would try my best to incorporate these changes in my life as well.
Thanks Joseph!
Welcome. That really means a lot, Rohit! I hope the ideas serve you well. Thanks for watching 🔥
Thank you Joseph. This was very encouraging. Jesus is surely leading you in your path. God bless you brother.
Thanks for watching! I can definitely relate. Especially when working on big projects, it helps so much to take some quiet days.
Earl Nightingale always preached this back in the day, that was when i mastered the art of boredom. It's the second superpower I've got outside invisibility. How do you master the art you might wonder, it's your ability to think. Master Thinking and Boredom will be your ally.
Great point! Giving yourself space to think is key.
Excellent video Joseph. Thank you.
@@josephdwarren Thanks for your kind comment and quality content!
@@kme3894 Appreciate you, K ME!
Reminds me of the book written by Cal Newport, titled Deep work- where he talks about boredom being a positive thing.
This video has ridiculously good information. If you have already implemented some of what is advised and can relate to the changes in your life, it’s makes the watch that much more incredible. Thanks!

the way i see it is like developing a business, you get an idea, you learn more and work on producing the product and then market the product. Currently I'm struggling on the marketing aspect because it takes time and effort. I know roughly what I need to do, but because i fill all the time i could be learning with scrolling on social media instead it's been hard to get done. I'm also not sure what the best process for digital marketing is yet
This will be additional inspiration to get off my phone.
This video is gold! I knew there was something magical about day dreaming 🙌🏽 and just letting your mind wander into deep hypothetical rabbit holes xD i get such great epiphanies from them
I'm glad you enjoyed the video! Same here. I get some of my best ideas when I'm daydreaming. Thanks for watching 🔥🔥

Watched this video while sitting on the same floor of the library this was filmed in while eating🤣. Time to switch things up
Loved your video dude
Also loved how you put a video in reverse of an elevator right after you said I would find things other people miss 2:50
I don't know if I was the first one to find it 😅
You are the first comment about it! I felt it fit the message better if the elevator was going up. Thanks for watching, Juan 🔥

Welcome! Thank you too for watching 🔥
This is a really cool perspective! All things you said really made me realize that I haven't been bored in a long time and I've been living my life to social norms. Now, I want to really experience boredom again.
Thanks for watching, Geloyart! I hope the ideas serve you well 🔥
That's great video Joseph. But I wish you discussed the main, which is how to resist the urge to waste time when you're bored. Because it's easy doing meaningless thing like using social media than actually doing something useful.
Appreciate the thoughtful feedback, Nadjib! So true. We live in an age where it's very easy to stay distracted. Thanks for watching 🔥
My own personal problem with this is when I get a really good Idea during an MDD episode that is super detailed vibrant and unfolding right before my eyes when I write it down or voice record myself explaining it it's as if the spark diminishes and then I leave it to rot in the archives also it triggers me to abandon that scene and makes me create another world 🥲
props to you and boredom
Thanks, Gabrielle! I love your username 🔥
very well said and amazing cinematography! keep up the great work!
