I’ve owned this bike now for 6 months and hit the twisties every weekend with it and I absolutely love it! I think Honda really nailed it for a fast but sensible sport bike for the real world and for riders just getting into the world of sports bikes this one makes a lot of sense.
I agree!
I bought this as my first bike. I find it very heavy and not very agile. I love the bike but don't know what do I need to do so it feels a little nimble. Any advice would be appreciated.
@@MQureshi1 I say just practice more. I have no problem keeping up with the liter bikes in the canyons. It’s the rider not the bike.
Yes i certainly agree ! my previous bike was a 2020 CB1000R this bike is so much more engaging and fun to ride :)
The vibration I get between 6k and 7k rpm is one of my favourite things about this bike! On mine it comes through the saddle and it's like having a gentle little bollock massage 😂😂
Ooh how wonderful!
That might make it hard for me
😄
😂
Funny cause my cbr500r do the same at those rpm...
I can't be the only one that watches even if I'm not interested in the bike, just because TMF is great, and each video is like hearing from a mate?
Ah you are too kind Peter!!
Well said that man !
You and me both
I have to agree with that. It is like ignoring a friend. No interest in the Hyabusa or the CBR. Just hanging out to see what Andy thinks. After all, I am just one of the kids. :-)
Totally agree Peter
Best line... “7 mph, is that the best we can do?”. Great vid as always!
From the first Covid lockdown last year I was working my way through your videos and eventually did my basic training and bought a 125. I then upgraded to a 650 and last week, I finally did my cat A test on it. My licence arrived in the post today. Thanks for the inspiration to go and do it. It has been quite the ride.
Fabulous! Congratulations and welcome to biking...
Great vid TMF. I’ve had a 2021 model for 2 weeks, love it. I’d recommend it to anyone. As you say the likes are spot on, the dislike on the back end is correct, shame they have to design them this way, I’ll live with it instead of fitting a tail tidy. I also recommend a quick shifter. Keep the great uploads coming our way!
I do enjoy all the videos it amazes me how you can post all the videos and reply to comments you must be nonstop with it all the time.
Sure am! I enjoy it!
Best thing about Monday morning meetings on teams, is mute mic and stick phone with UA-cam on just behind laptop, everybody thinks I look really interested lol great review as always
I have TEAMS on the phone too. Prop it up in front of the monitor to watch Andy on the big screen. :-)
Your comment on the vibration is spot on Andy. I have had my bike (in black, even better looking) since last July and have found the same. Tail tidy fitted, pillion pegs removed and blanked with R&G items. Great bike. Would recommend one to anyone
I owned one of the early ones and agree the vibrations around 6K rpm were throughout the bike and annoying. Other than this rev range it was a great bike. I did wish I had sprung for a vfr800 instead though
Pyramid plastics do a hugger extension. I’ve got one on mine and it sorts out the mud flicking issue. Then with the tail tidy it looks so much better. Oh snd the vibrations can be sorted with heavier bar end weights. I absolutely love mine and those 6 things feature on my list.
I'm aiming for this bike in a few months. It seems to check all the boxes for me. Nice, helpful video.
Thanks mr Flyer, ordered my red one. Your vid helped me decide 👍
1 thing I love about this channel: Monday morning uploads!
Thanks!
Great review I’ve bought myself one in black cheers Andy 👍🏼
A good genuine review 👍🏻 in might upgrade my Cbr600f
By buddy plans on getting this bike very soon, and I plan on getting one when I'm not upside down on my z650. Absolutely beautiful bike and can't wait to get my hands on one.
Absolutely agree with all the points you laid out there very good video as always! Looking forward to more uploads from you.
I first watched you vid on the sv-650 and then got the sv-650 for myself and love it. Now im looking into a sportbike and here i am lol
Good video mate! I really enjoyed how you're riding safely.
Thank you Andres- appreciated!
Great review and if it was the style of bike I was looking for it would be on the top of my list.
I'm glad I've been riding for a while and have ridden a few bikes from the 70s and 80s. Even the new lower end budget bikes of the major manufacturers feel way better, so I just look for any major mechanical issues a brand may have had in the recent past. Other then that if it fits my needs and feels right, the little flaws become character and grow on you. I've been riding my main bike for 13 years and still love it flaws and all.
I have the CB650r with the same rear. Changed tail tidy to something vaguely nice and I can confirm it not only chucks mud and crud all over itself but also ‘helpfully’ fills the under seat area with water. I thought buying a Honda that this sort of thing couldn’t possibly happen. I was mistaken.....
G'day TMF. There are no bad bikes these days, it's just that some are better than the others. Good video Andy
keep 'em coming.
Willco!
Great review as always! A request though if you can make it happen. Any
chance of doing some reviews on the Benelli 752S or the TRK502? My nephew just bought a
TRK502 and I'll be honest, it looks a decent bike. I looked at the 752S
on friday and I have to say it looks a quite impressive package for the
money. Unfortunately I couldn't do a test ride as no demonstrator
available. Just another idea to add to your ever growing list of
reviews. Cheers
Thank you Mr Flyer - I love these rides and look forwards enormously to each new video. :>)
Glad you like them Peter - cheers!
Lovely Video . All Positives and Negatives , Very well pointed. Stunning machine .
Bought this bike yesterday and absolutely love it!
Congratulations and enjoy the bike!
Yoo love the video! I bought the same in may! I got lucky because they had only 1 in stock (covid and the ship trafic) and others where interested in the same 1. I would have waited till november to get 1 ordered. It so fun to drive. The long road and short fun trips. The back fender is also my only thing I not happy about. But hey there solutions for that!
Looks and sounds like a sophisticated CBR600 of old. Smashing 👍
English biker Dan said if you take the original tail off for a shorter one water ingresses under the seat ,so he put his back on.
Yeah I have the same tail tidy as he did. I went to my local hardware store and got some shower door flexible rubber seal and attached it to the rear seat. I don't have any issues now.
@@Dan13221322 Brillaint solution mate ,thought Honda would have thought of this as they tend to over engineer their bikes.
Great review as always Andy. Thank you. It’s just a shame that Honda Australia is only offering it as a A2 bike only (they didn’t even bother to at least give it a bit more oomph that our Learner Legal system allows, which would be more like 53 bhp (instead of 47). The only good thing for us Aussies and Kiwis is the de-restrictions can easily be done without any visible signs that it produces the 94 bhp. I just love the look, as to an untrained eye it’s hard to tell the difference with the previous Fireblade. 👍😎🇦🇺
So annoying right? Can't get the full power here in nz, luckily it's an extra grand to get it derestricted and tuned. We're getting 88hp at the rear wheel here which is pretty good. I'm buying mine at the end of the year.
i got this bike a few months ago and i love it.
hate that i need to pull off the fairing to change the tailtidy but thats it. never noticed the vibrating
Rename the video , 3 things that sometimes might get on my nerves a bit if I bought one if I was in a really bad mood , everything else , love it ! Good honest review as always , bring back the rear mud guard or hugger is what I say , bloody ridiculous arse end on it , seems to be a thing these days , just shortens the life of the rear shock . Yep lack of electronic gismos is a good thing , manufacturers seem to be in competition to get as many " modes " on a bike as possible , takes away the skill of riding to a degree imo . ABS is all that's really needed in the snow and ice , just marketing I suppose , if I was in the market for such a bike I would defiantly put it top of my list of test rides . Cheers
Whoa, I get to be one of the first to comment for a change.
Great vlog as always Andy. Love the CBR650R but like you i hate the rear end on all bikes now a days.
Why does the seat end so far forward so we have no rear rain/mud protection. I don’t want to be caked in road crap when i ride my bike.
Still it does mean i get to spend lots of time cleaning my bike. BMW F900R. Love it. Also only has 105horses. Perfect for normal road riding.
I agree Gary.....no need for more though we always like it!
It seems many of the modern bikes are almost a retrograde step from earlier models.. The cbr600 was a fabulous machine as we're vfr750's and we had 60bhp + 400's and 50bhp 250's rather than 25bhp 400cc singles ..the development of every capacity size was far more interesting in the late 80's an 90's imho though I am watching with interest, the massive improvements in the quality of Chinese offerings who will compete with japanese within 5 years I expect. Ahh .the days when my right wrist And clutch and braking technique was the " riding mode adjuster"!!😁😁
About the vibrating, it dissapers when you get som miles on it and it sound better too!
Im going down Honda tomorrow to sit on one of these bad boys , Just passed my Mod 2 😎
Congratulations Ian!
Thanks for another great review, the rear end needs a longer tyre hugger to stop that mess, providing it was a well made one, it would improve the looks and functionality of the bike. Thanks again Andy, much appreciated. ✊
My pleasure James!
Will be interested to see how the new R7 measures up in comparison....
Nice review once again Mr Flyer. I currently have the CB650R which I did a review of and you’re right, not much to hate about these bikes, they may be more simple than the latest tech-fest but still great bikes for the money.
Agreed!
Blue saloon and white van, so typical of many on the roads. Cheers TMF
That white van at the end was setting a hot lap through town lol
Mercedes, driven by the incompetent and inconsiderate.
Easy on the white vans pal, your bike probably, came in one...Vans rock.
Why manufacturers insist on ugly useless tail ends annoys me.
Another quality review Andy, this bike does exactly what is says on the tin.
Something about EURO regs meaning the number plate has to be level with the back of the wheel or something
The rearmost part of a motorbike cannot be the tyre. Not sure why, a wobbly number plate isn’t going to fend off a rear ender from a bus.
It's vehicle design regs, applicable in the UK at least and probably Euro wide too. The tyres/wheels can't be exposed. So the over-hanging tail, while essentially providing no benefit, is the minimum necessary to comply with the letter of the law. Pretty sure they wouldn't do it if they didn't have to.
Splendid review there, that messy rear end is a 👎🏻. Your point about far too many onboard electronic faffery is so true... the Honda does seem to have just what it needs.
Must be a decent bike ... it earned a Yee Har!
Great bike 8k in the UK wow, $11500 in Oz about 6.5k UK,great value motorcycle for sure, great review 👌
Thanks! 👍
Here in The States the CBR650R is $9,699, that sounds like a massive bargain to me. Glad to here this bike is as good to ride on the road as it looks on paper. I am not in the market for a motorcycle but this bike has me drooling.
I went shopping for a New bike in March this year. Looking for the kawa ninja 650 the ducati supersport this one and the R6 ( only racing available so that was a fast no). Then this one is far best of them all. Knowing the kawa has only 2 cylinders and far less hp. And the Ducati is like 17k and is known to be expensive in maintainence. So this 1 is a must
This is my first motorcycle video I have watched since passing my CBT last weekend on a Honda 125cc. Watching this feels so different now, and I don't know how you can do a piece to camera and ride at the same time, take my hat off to you. A great review as always and I look forward to your next piece, Honda make nice machines. :)
Welcome to biking!
Superb review, i’m having a brand new bike delivered myself on Thursday 🤗🤗🤗
Congratulations Tim - which bike?
@@TheMissendenFlyer i’m getting an MT10 SP traded in my MT10 😆, the SP is so pretty.
If I didn’t already have an Interceptor (VFR), I’d be headed for my Honda dealer for a test ride on this one. It’s lovely to see a four when most new bikes are going to parallel twins to keep the costs down. Thanks for another great video.
The interceptor is a much nicer bike all around- of course I am a big fan of vfr :)
Thank you for watching!
Luv it TMF and a cuppa in the morning perfect start to the day , nice bike don't like the back as you say Andy could they not have increased the length of the hugger maybe or something .I get it these are niggles more than hate, from the front of the bike it looks awesome like a different bike really strange .Cheers : )
How are the headlights at night? I heard they weren’t very good. What’s your opinion? Appreciate the videos!
I know u don't like the extended rear ends. But has to be on for eueopean approval. Will they clamp down in future with tail tidies great channel
While I’ve seen several folks talk about doing a “tail tidy” I really like the “dragon tail” that’s on the bike.😊.
A bike cop friend of mine had one of these until very recently, and really rated it......but he chopped it in for a Blade to get the extra thrust needed to keep up wiv da boyz when we wind the wick on.
A suggestion if I may Mr Missy.....I've often heard you say that 'hate' is a bit of a strong word to use in these review contexts....so maybe simply say 'dislike' instead? Jus' sayin' like!!
Stay safe Doooooood.
Fantastic as always. As advised, I shall consider the CBR650R!! Will be interesting to see if the supposed Yamaha R7 pans out, unfortunately I heard you said before Yamaha don’t play nice with UA-camrs! They need to wake up, because UA-camrs like TMF here will 100% influence my next motorcycle purchase.
...actually since I've been saying that, they've been in touch! Stay tuned for some Yamaha reviews in due course!
@@TheMissendenFlyer excellent news! That can only be good news for the channel, and to be honest, good news for Yamaha!
Interesting that the CBR500R in 2023 is near enough the exact same price as the CBR650R was in 2021!
Great review. I am older so I am going with the CB1000r instead.
Good morning Andy, nice little video. I do love that bike and would love either the CBR650R or CB650R for my first big bike but just cannot decide. I love the naked and faired versions so either way il get a good bike. What’s your favourite out of the two? 👍🏻
Tough call Dan, probably the CBR - I love the look of sport bikes and this one doesn’t kill your back....
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks for the reply. Yeah that is true. It looks a hell of lot comfier than an R6 or bikes which are more “track” focused. Iam kind of leaning towards the CB as il only mainly be doing B road riding around the gorgeous new forest, the odd motorway here and there. The CBR just looks so mean though. Guess il have to flip a coin or something ha ha
Awesome bud cheers 👍🏻
Thanks for the visit
You're always explaining yourself and moderating the "hate" label, so maybe "pros & cons" would be a better choice of words ... :o)
The wife has one of these and I've ridden it. Yeah, it does vibrate through the seat a bit but she reckons she's not noticed it. Ok, whatever you say! 😁 First thing that got changed was all that shite on the back for a tail tidy. Also fitted a plug in quick shifter now as well which helps keep it singing. Could do with after market exhaust really as it's pretty muted most of the time.
This is a sharp bike. Our U.S. version has a little different paint scheme.
It’s the same for the 2021. They changed it from the 2020
Love my 650r, can confirm it loves to get messy and I would say the matt black version gets even more so than the red one.
the Only problem with living with any bike in Kent is the roads, it annoys me beyond belief that the roads are so uneven and so patchy. Even on dual carriageways, its like speed bumps near Canterbury it's that uneven.
It annoys more because it feels like my bikes going to get ruined bec of it.
I can understand why you don't think all the electrickery is needed on a sub 100hp bike TMF, but personally I think they're a necessity on the larger heavier more powerful top end stuff as I think without them many including me would probably end up in a ditch and they only have to work once to be worthwhile. It does look the busines though and for this bike maybe a rain mode for the less experienced rider would be useful especially as some will probably ride all year round together with a QS which I think most bikes would benefit from, especially for overtaking. Great vid as ever👍
Yes i agree Adrian - on a 200bhp plus monster I'd take all the electronics I could get....
just passed my a licence and bought this bike ,so far so good
Congratulations - and welcome to biking!
Another good video TMF
Thanks 👍
Lovely looking machine. 👍
I agree!
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it - thanks for watching....
Great watch and a 'hey kids' so I'm not sure what sequence your producing the vlogs ? Great work anyway ! Hey folks mm not you !!
I never guaranteed them to be in sequence!
I am really happy with the bike but I have a strong vibration and noise at the clutch lever at high rpm.... but the rest is perfect :)
Shoutout to the white van driver! xD What a gent
Wasn't he!
The vast majority of modern bikes throw road muck all over the rear end. It's a reflection of the fact that most bikes are sunny Sunday playthings and not daily tools. So if you want a commuting bike your choice is very, very small.
It is a great size of bike, I hope you are able to get hold of the Aprilia RS and Tuono 660 to compare it to? :-)
Hahaha, the white van had the go faster hazard stripes on the back, when it hits 88mph, the driver is still a tw*t :D
I owned a 2016 CBR650F for a short time. It looked the part, started and stopped but the bit in the middle was really boring. Hopefully this one is a bit more engaging.
I love this bike, but it's so expensive here across the pond in the US. Like $9.5k+. Cant justify that when a zx6r or RS660 is only $1-2k more
Interesting comparison, similar engine to my now gone 650 Deauville which was always competent in every way. You need to get the volvo in its space to stop the crap getting up to the seat cavity!! Bring back proper mudguards is what I say!!
.
.?
@@nikoscosmos Sorry Nick, the Volvo comment refers to my dislike of the ludicrous empty space between the seat and the wheel, someone referred to it as big enough to park a Volvo in and it has stuck ever since!!
Isn’t the vibration normal for this engine type? I don’t think it’s specific to the bike actually from experience 👍😎 great videos though :)
Haha nice ending, i was wondering if you ever incounter dumb dumbs on the road :D BTW how does it compare to the cb 650 R or did i miss that in a previous video. Great upload as always! :D
It's a very similar ride to the CB650R just position on the bike really that's different....
Awesome bike
Isn’t it just….
Why no rubber protector for the rear shock??? My GSX250R has one. 😁
Since you’ve had it for while have you had any chance to see the bike with a decent set of panniers and top box? I have seriously considered this bike as my next commuter bike, but here in Denmark 🇩🇰 I haven’t been able find a good looking set of luggage. I seen a couple for the CBR650F which is an older model and more upright riding but pretty much the same engine.
No I'm not aware of any....
My wife really enjoys the vibrations. Especially between 7 and 9 thousand rpm 😁
...she must be missing something at home then.... ;0)
@@TheMissendenFlyer Can't get enough would describe it better 😂
@@astsaft 🤣 !!
Hi nice vid , I’m considering to get one here in india , wanted ask how is the roll on speed from 3 or 4 , does it pull strong to cross those long trucks on the highways and suspension from Showa does it soak up small bumps well ? , thanks
Yes and yes….
The bike looks great but i wish the rear seat raised a bit higher up. I feel like the rear looks kinda stumpy.
Tmf you should try to get a ride on the new Honda cbr1000rr-r.
These look just like the last gen fireblade, I've seen a few out on the road and struggle to tell at first!
Exactly!
Honda CBR650R V Aprillia RS 660 now that would be Interesting .
Like the love and hate in one video 👍
Thank you - I have to do this when I don't have time to make a full "in-depth" review video......
Another corker of a video, keep them coming! Great entertainment reminds me ofbthe days of Men and Motors with Fran Robinson and Richard Hammond. Loved Fran Robinson but its a pity we don't see her on the telly anymore!
Yes if that's the lady I'm thinking of....nice northern lass....
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if motorcycle manufacturers could invent something to protect bikes and riders from road muck thrown up by wheels? Oh they did, they are called mudguards (or fenders)!
But where would the profit be in customers not having to pay extra fit fender extenders, huggers and tail tidies?
Most people who buy bikes don't ever take them out in the rain so mudguards have been omitted for a long time. It became trendy to add a 'hugger' to the swingarm to protect the shock from the worst of the gravel and dirt but they don't give any protection from mud and water. I wonder if they fitted decent mudguards to bikes would it put people off buying them or would people buy more of them ?
Quality bike then for the brass
Is the vibration issue in the full power, A2 variant or both? I was looking at getting the lower power variant (LAMS) here in aus and then getting the full power flash a little way down the line after I get comfortable with the bike and complete my full license.
I haven't ridden the A2 variant so I can't say - I'd imagine it would be exactly the same as the full power version....
Hiya, I’ve just bought the 2023 model and on the ride home the bike was filthy! Perhaps the most annoying thing for me is vibration through the foot pegs and I’m not sure if that can be solved. That said, I absolutely love the bike and won’t be parting with it anytime soon.
Good to hear!
Just a great bike
Buy one..go on
Nice review. Seems a great middleweight all-rounder. Only thing I don't really like is the dash. Would've preferred an rpm clock & digital speedo but a small point & no deal breaker.
I agree with all of it.
Glad we concur!
I was taught that if you are going to pull out like that Merc, you get a move on. Not sure my instructor had the actions of that van in mind though.
...indeed...
I might have missed it but did you mention the quick shifter option?
I don't think I did no - is there one?
@@TheMissendenFlyer yes and its awesome
3:25 The older 1000cc looks even more like the 650r
If the 2021 model kept the Dunlop tyres from the 2019/2020, they’re probably the biggest downside for me. So many times the backend just gave up for a half a second in cold/damp conditions. And non-adjustable forks, but it is a budget bike so it had to come out somewhere.
I asked the dealer to fit S22's before I collect it, and they have.
Good morning Mr. Flyer, bedtime for me.
Nighty night!
