We freaking need the ability to open up and use web versions of things like Google sheets etc. I can’t stand having features limited on the apps when the device has the power to run the web version.
Just use it. I use web version to work with keyboard and mouse and the app to work only in touch screen, works fine
Bravo! You had me a full featured apps. My iPad Pro, which I use daily, is about 5-6 years old. It is my default travel device and overdue for updating/replacement. It still works fine, so I delay replacement waiting for the next iteration to Wow me into a purchase. I'm hopeful that the next iPad Pro is the one. Your suggestions are right on target.
Function buttons would be nice on the “Magic Keyboard”
Amen!
Besides all the things you pointed out, I think that the iPad Pro, above all, is MISSING a TRUE fully flagged O.S. with an ACTUAL FILE SYSTEM! Plus TWO TRUE thunderbolt ports.
Smart folders, smart notes lists, smart contacts lists, smart mailbox lists. Multiple work spaces. Advanced search features. Generally just a more robust, fully functional iPadOS.
1st thing for me is a 15" or 16" iPad Pro. The 2nd is being able to control if the Pencil is used as a pointer or for drawing inside the open app. So many apps, like Notes, you can only use it as a drawing or markup device.
The only issue I have with iPad (Pro) is like you talk at the beginning, the apps being just "mobile version" of the desktop app, while the hardware is truly capable to handle the full app. Final Cut or Logic Pro feel like mobile version of the Mac apps and I'm tired of it. I want apps to be pro an fully capable. At the end, the iPad is, with the apps and the OS, just a bigger iPhone.
EDIT: Oh and more ports (2 USB, SD, jack...)
Universal control ipad to any apple device! - minor tweak to scribble so that editing on the fly is easier, Freeform to support templates, imports from Miro, and use notes to create a knowledge graph - finally improved continuity
I wish Apple would come out with a touchscreen tablet with Mac OS. iPad OS doesn't have a desktop-level browser and true desktop quality apps, and it appears that neither are ever going to happen. While I can do many things on an iPad, many productivity tasks take too many steps on an iPad.
tbh i was always against making ipad run macos but I also thought apple would do more with ipadOs after the namechange. what u said is true, iPadOs needs to open up.
I still don't really understand the point of a touch screen mac tablet. MacOS still clearly works best with keyboard, mouse, trackpad etc input. MacOS would need to be redesigned for touch along with all the apps it runs. At that point, surely you just invest the effort in improving iPadOS? The only benefit I can really see is the ability to sketch directly in MacOS, providing it comes with pencil support and PencilKit.
What would you see the advantage of a tablet mac being over something like the Air?
@@SimonLYW The advantage would be the versatility of a touchscreen for times you don't need a mouse or keyboard to surf the web, consume media, and use the pencil for various work. It would be nice to have the power of Mac OS giving you access to desktop apps and browsers when you need them.
@@ront335 To me it still seems like it'd just be the worst of both worlds. A bad tablet experience because you'll be using software not designed for touch and a back mac experience because of things like lack of IO.
This approach failed time and time again for Microsoft. More recently things like the surface saw some brief success but haven't really been popular amongst PC users.
They’ll never do it. If they made a laptop with a touch screen, people would just buy that instead of both a MacBook and an iPad.
4 haptic motors (one in each quadrant) and when you draw with the pencil Apple can use their haptic magic to simulate the feel of a pencil through vibrations. And it could change in intensity depending on if you are using a highlighter or a pen or a marker. I also think it might be interesting to try incorporating the haptics into content consumption, make the iPad rumble when there is an explosion in a movie or game (like Razer tried with their Kraken Hypersense headsets). It would add so much to immersion which is what Apple has been trying to with Spatial Audio, maybe call it Spatial Feedback, or Dynamic Rumble lol.
I'd like to see a full web development kit on the iPad. Something like AMPPS or XAMPP being able to run web servers (mysql, php, etc as well) locally on iPad. That would have me... I have to use the Mac to develop websites locally, whereas being able to do that on an iPad, especially perhaps the iPad mini Pro (I like that idea), would make web development nicely mobile.
2 of the things you included on your wishlist have been confirmed by leakers. A matte glass option and thinner much lighter design. Also new magic keyboard and apple pencil are coming too
For me the current ipad pro M2 is more than enough for my needs.
If anything is needed, it would be the software upgrades for supporting coding in ipad as well just like mac.
Been rocking an iPad Pro 12.9 5th Gen for 3 years. I took the plunge and purchased a MBP14 M3 to supplement it . Put simply, I was astounded at how "dumbed down" iPadOS is. Though, on the other hand combining these 2 together is just brilliant. 3 days now and I can see how much better an experience MacOS is compared to Windows. Still use windows as my work PC, all OS's have their place I guess. Learning curve continues.
Yes to an iPad Mini Pro!!!! 👏🏼
I love my iPad Pro 2022 to replaces a computer use it most of the day. Cannot wait for the new one.
Apple, "U are asking for too much"
I give up on it had the iPad Pro 2020 and started to see it nerfed when M series came out, for me full version of excel (not apples fault) Xcode and a full browser with dev mode would see me right as well as being able to format media. These days I’ve gone back to PC with iPad Air for content consumption. I would go all in if it could do my dev work
My iPad pro has been sitting in my backpack since I got my pixel fold. Mind you I've used my iPad for everything now I just look at it like huh. But if I must say the apple pencil is great. Air gestures we talking about soli.
Quick question, I want to buy a Pro. Will the price drop as soon as the new one is announced ? Wait or just grab one now ?
Considering the prices of the Magic Keyboard, I think more people are going to go with 3rd party options over buying a new one from Apple.
I’d be happy if they could somehow do Stage Manager over AirPlay, for a wireless experience
I agree about the pencil, but I also hear the whirring sound of Steve Jobs spinning
Didn’t pay attention to anything you said, was busy looking at the spiny thingy at the back ground the entire video
Removable Battery would be really useful.
Totally agree about apps. How is it I can view and edit titles of all photos in an album on Photos with a single click on a Mac but not on Photos? Very basic functionality.
Hi Chris, congrats on The content. Spot on. i have been traine to use me iPad as mani machine, since The Quasar app (jailbreak) in 2011. In and out of it, always returning to the Mac. I believe that there are 3 different areas that need a serious approach from Apple, directly and indirectly. 1. IpadOS: last version 17.5 and previous 17.4.1 still lack the robustness of mac, having a lot of bugs, glitches, freezes, emails not downloading, files app constant freezes. 2. For the price charged and the hardware capabilities, Apple needs to stop treating the iPad like a kid’s game and take the matter seriously. 2. Developer Apps: they’ need to be the same as mac ones. Also, i want the freedom of installing what i want and from where i want and not only the scaled down versions Apple grants the access to. For the security risks, they charge the money, it is up to them to solve. I just buy a machine and i want it to do what i want, regardless. Virtual machines like parallels VM or other, to run windows or other OS, effortlessly 3. Hardware : all of what you said is spot on. Battery life must be improved by 100%, size increase is welcome, 2 thunderbolt 4 or higher, combining the 5G and WiFi to increase internet transfer speeds. I have a 2018 iPad Pro 12.9”and i will not change it if at least robustness of the OS and more mac professional features are not added. Keep up the good work. PS: i am not an English born speaker, thus pardon my poor English
If the price of air m2 higher than pro m2, which would you like to buy, proM2 or airM2???
more sizes and still not enough full featured apps?
One of my priorities for th e M3 iPad Pro is the re-designed Magic Keyboard. Larger trackpad, function key row, lighter in weight. Otherwise I will carry on with my M1 iPad Pro, and buy a MacBook. Love your idea on wireless charging spot on new keyboard!!!
All I want for the iPad is the ability to save folders and files to the desktop/homescreen
Honestly it just needs the MacOs browser experience and 99% of users will be happy to make this their daily driver. It’s still very very frustrating when you have an expensive powerful iPad and you need to pull out your laptop to do some very basic browser/ file explorer stuff. Honestly, when that’s fixed developers will come as well.
I think the only thing that would tempt me to upgrade from my iPad mini 6 would be a mini Pro.
Upgrade wish list:
- IP rated iPads. More than, if not equivalent to iPhone levels of water, dust resistance
- new Apple Pencil. Hopefully 3rd times the charm. The first had a fail charging design. The second’s tap feature accidentally triggers too easily. For the third, add more gestures, button(s), a way to turn off the pencil, interchangeable pen tips etc. Be able to use it as a wand of sorts, make use of the reverse end of the pencil.
- Related to the Pencil, make a Apple Pencil compatible iMac that can convert into a drawing mode (a la Surface Studio)
- Spend more time on iPadOS. It’s losing that “it just works” factor.
Fun feature: being able to key in prompt for auto generated infinite carousel of wallpapers that change according to user preference (E.g. change daily, change seasonally).
- Better viewing angles. Would love to see the display be able to not dim or shift in picture when viewed off angle. Better for writing/drawing when the device is off angle and when sharing the screen next to someone. Also for when viewing content off axis E.g. the cooking example
- Reduce weight. Enough that one could use an iPad 11” to read on one hand very comfortably
- Less rear cameras but one micro four thirds, apsc sized sensor with a 40mm equivalent lens. Would be insane if there was a way to partner some third party to mount and control actual lenses. Would really make the iPad an interesting video/photography tool. The big screen, availability of apps, able to capture, edit, publish all on same device, LiDAR, computational features
As long as the iPad is running a similar version to iOS then it will be limited compared to the Mac. I tried an iPad Pro for week but really didn't see the need for it, especially since photoshop was limited compared to the version on my MacBook Pro.
I saw certain vids why they call it “pro”. I think it would need an input and output for mics. Other than that, I have a 2020 12” pro with the keyboard and 1TB of storage. I have no real qualms about it. It is what it’s supposed to be…an iPad
Apple could put out some type of Rosetta like software that helps the ipad os use MacOS. Just like how Rosetta 2 helps MacOS use Intel programs. That would be I think the best/easiest way to see far more pro apps, so coders, software developers and game devs can actually utilise the ipad pro too. Right now the ipad pros pro applications are more tailored to a UA-cam creator or artist.
The devs have had the opportunity for 5+ years to make pro apps or full apps but they have decided not to. Apple gives them the API and help, but devs have their own business model and probably think that offering a cheaper iPad version would be detrimental to their bottom line. This is not Apple's fault as they clearly want more iPadOS apps. Even if there was Rosetta for iPad the devs would still have to allow this, and remember most devs do not allow iPad apps on macOS, so why would you think they would allow the reverse?
I am not an iPad user but here are some few things that I have been dreaming to see in iPad once I buy the 'will be released' one
1. it would be cool to have a stand by feature in iPad just like it is in iOS... it would be pretty entertaining and productive to have a big screen that we can use like a control management... just like we use to dream to use a screen to control things... just like
2. Just like [1.] it would be cool to have a second hand display for games, music and much more... with similar to the stand by user interface... like playing cod war zone or mobile from iPad and having iPhone showing the map.... that would be very very cool concept to apply...
Is this still worth getting? Or better to watch for the new ones to come in
depends on what u want and what ur budget is. m1 iPad pros are still perfectly fine and getting cheap refurbished. just dont buy new rn
I love my iPad Pro, but it desperately needs a better operating system, something more desktop like, along with support for more fully featured desktop apps. Cause as it is, the M2 in the iPad Pros is not being fully utilized by anything.
Apple has said there is zero chance of macOS coming to iPads for obvious reasons, as 80% of iPad sales are not pro models and the average iPad user does not need a macOS version. Also, devs still have to support it, and I expect that they will not as it is a niche demographic and making money is doubtful.
How do i get that blank home screen with only the dock on ipads?? 😮
See my recent iPad hack video
I wish the iPad Pro iOS file system was exactly like the Mac OSX. And if the iPad Pro or any iPad had micro Sandisk ports for storage that would be amazing.
I think MagSafe battery on iPad would be way too hot with the amount of power iPad needs to charge while being used and with how hot mine gets under intense usage while charging via cord don’t see it being feasible. I definitely want more ports on my iPad whether that’s MagSafe or preferably more ports as you mentioned. I don’t want foldable with how easy the screens are to scratching it’s not worth it being smaller when I’m not using it folded anyway.
It is recommended that you charge in downtime to keep temps down. That applies to laptops as well, unless you are simply trickle charging. I am surprised people charge and use at the same time as this will be impactful of longevity of the device especially the battery as there is no fan. You should stop doing that especially as Apple designs their devices to perform the same on battery as they do on power.
Needs multiple audio sources
I like your list, and more full featured apps, with Mac and iPad using the same processors, it should be possible to add an emulation layer to just run Mac apps. I don’t want MacOS on an iPad, but Mac apps, maybe requiring Stage Manager and KB/M would make a lot of sense.
The thing I don’t hear a lot, and as a musician I’d love, is wireless lossless audio. Apple has already proved they can do this with the Vision Pro, and it feels like a “Pro” feature to me. Let’s get it added to the iPad Pro and maybe drop new AirPods Max that support it at the same time.
What I would really like to see is the ability to close all open apps at once like you can on Android instead of having to swipe each one.
The main thing they need is for accessories to be less expensive.
The apps need to be better. It sucks that I cant do everything that i can do from laptop to my iPad. No excuse since is chipset is pretty much the same
This is the reason there’s no need to get the iPad Pro or huge ones when tablets are just needed for mobility and handheld ability to offload some light computing tasks from MacBooks or PCs and do it there instead. E.g. browsing, audio/video entertainment, handwritten notes, sketching, etc.
hdmi input/capture card. dual thunder bolt ports. cause it is a awesome camera monitor, should record like a ninja.
O dont agree woth the battery pack. It will be very expensive given how ipad consumes energy.
Crave -Qualcomm latest modem - for best most reliable fastest 5G ,seamless data between 2 sims hopping when coverage lacks ,that’s the most important! So iPhone 16 Qualcomm modem ,which is the Samsung s24 current modem always Comming later .also 16” iPad oled not overpriced!
Thanks for sharing. Blessings on your day.
We need an Ipad Mini Pro with full external screen support in IpadOS. Today the full support on the Mini is lacking and its very irratating since it probably could be done. Look at Samsung Dex, Apple is not implementing functions to sales impact economics, its a preamature way of thinking. Do your best Apple, stop doing the wrong things… Otherwise Samsung will soon rule the mobile tech world…
An iPad Mini even with a M1 chip will be a wonderful device.
But Apple will never do that in order to protect the other “higher tier” devices.
The lack of iPadOS full feature apps is the only reason I won’t go ipad only.
Until Apple makes a completely iPadOS/MacOS hybrid for the iPad Pro there is no reason for me to upgrade beyond the iPad Pro 2018. Apple can add tons of features but still comes down to the OS.
So if you eliminate all the pie in the Sky stuff, you basically want a MacBook with a touch screen.
Not enough Apple youtubers willing to deal with the real problems of iPads and iPhones...namely iOS/iPadOS.
The same applies to Android tablets so I am puzzled why we never see comments like yours in Android tablet reviews? Maybe it is because the iPad is a tablet, like an Android tablet, and that is what 90% of users want. Buy a laptop if you want a desktop OS, or do what I do and have both!
Everything you are wishing for here could quite easily be implemented on the current set of iPads as Apple already got all of your wishes already working in one for or other. But if implemented in one device it will become prohibitively expensive as to cover for the loss of revenue from the other devices which will inevitably become irrelevant. Purely financial decisions as every other business face.
The iPad is my favorite piece of technology that has ever been released.
Just add full blown macOS then the problem fixed.
Terminal, Support for full steroid desktop apps, Xcode
iPad Pro is meant to be used as a computer just like Mac but with convertible form factor.
No it is not, it is a tablet like the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra and that does not offer a desktop OS, it uses an inferior Android app catalogue.
I wish galaxy tabs will have Procreate and Goodnotes in the future.
They have goodnotes. Procreate has plenty of alternative which are not worse
@@MrPoliarinis This Goodnotes on Android is trash 🗑. It doesn't even have all the features like on my ipad pro. Bad reviews only.
1. It needs a system file manager.
Bring that and I'l finally buy an iPad
It has one? It’s called “Files” and it’s limited
If you work in the file manager then you should buy a Mac. The iPad is not meant for that for several reasons.
@@ghost-user559 It not a system file manager. Its just a place to store files
@@blueciffer1653 I mean it used to be. Now it has a folder hierarchy and you can indeed manage files in a limited capacity. It’s just not a full fledged desktop file manager.
Access to desktop versions of Adobe would be 💯. Other than that, it’s just a huge mobile phone. If that’s considered something mind blowing, how about ditch the whole mobile look overall and give us desktop views all around!
Ipads should be maximum 10.9z not too big, not too small
tbh im really not that excited about the rumors about the new iPad. doesn't feel like much of an upgrade tbh. like all I have been hearing is "its gonna be thinner", who the hell asked for that?
And I feel like my wishes are rather unlikely to happen now or in the future.
My wishes would be:
- a lot brighter screen (the one feature that will happen) screen at the moment is bright but outdoors its basically unusable. would love to use it outside more
- more ports. please a 2nd usbc!! u call it pro it needs a 2nd usbc port!
- as u said, Apple Pencil Pro with actual buttons would be nice. I'm an artist using it as my main creating device. the pen rn is nice but 2 physical buttons could make It soooo much better. but this is very unlikely in my opinion sadly.
- my most requested feature, however, is better software. iPad os since the name change really didn't do anything different from iOS. (stage manager maybe but its also bad)
- files app needs to be completely redone in my opinion. ipad is almost unusable as a professional device bc of that.
tighter app integration would also be very nice. let apps do more, make it more behave like desktop apps.
bring macos apps to the ipad. this would be huge. very unlikely to happen tho
The new iPad Pro and Airs will have the latest 3nm chip with all the AI benefits that will come in iPadOS 18. They will have an OLED display, new MagSafe charging, new cameras, better LTPO, encoders/decoders, hardware ray tracing, etc.
@@andyH_England
- new chip is nice, not like the old one wasn't overpowered already. almost no app can take advantage of that since it can't run desktop programs.
- AI benefits will just be carried over from ios making that not very iPad specific or interesting.
- oled displays are nice. feel like we have been waiting for that since a while now already.
- magsafe, sure nice. depending on how it's implemented. hope it's just the MacBook Magsafe plug. if i can charge it while using plus another accessory plugged in would be great.
- new cameras... who the hell asked for that?
the rest is included in the stuff above. raytracing is cool... but there are no games that can take advantage of that since its just ios games
like always nice hardware that nobody uses bc the software is so meh. so broken down. the only new stuff really is Oled and Magsafe. so exciting.
Mac os
Wtf, e-ink? You do not represent any of us 😂
*MacOS!!!*
Sick of Apple's bull$h!t wall garden iPadOS and monopoly app store.
Give consumers control and freedom over their device.
Buy an Android if you want freedom as that is open source where as iPadOS is closed for obvious reasons as Apple does not want people porting iPadOS onto other devices, amongst other things.
@andyH_England obvious reason ? 😀😀😀😀 from the way are talking it seems that those reasons are not so obvious for you
@@MrPoliarinis there are soo many obvious reasons I’m not gonna waste my time mentioning them but another one is that 90% of iPad users do not care about having a desktop OS in fact they buy an iPad so they don’t have to put up with Windows. Another reason is that macOS isn’t touch friendly and you just have to look at how badly Microsoft got it wrong to realise that is a stupid thing to do. You still have the same issue that devs may not want to have apps on iPads. Also cost as having two OSes means more work for Apple. Also, it means that most iPads wouldn’t run it well bearing in mind the anti- Apple mob complains about 8GB of RAM on macOS. I could go on and on but I get the impression that you are flexing.
@andyH_England Good attitude. Don't waste your time on internet. Do your homework and other thing what's kids usually do. 90% do not care about desktop os ? 🤣 have you ever tried to use ipad for something work related, not gaming or video consumption? 🤣 how old are you 12?
@@MrPoliarinis The iPad is a tablet, and I use it as such. My MB is for office stuff, and I use it for that. That is how Apple and Samsung promote their business model. Where are all the pro-Windows apps on the Galaxy Tab S9 line? Why are you not trolling Samsung reviews? Samsung tried Windows tablets, and they sucked and sold few and far between. Why on earth would anyone want to try that again. When MS made a fool of themselves with a desktop tablet, why would Apple or Samsung follow? Even MS no longer calls its Surface Pro a tablet, as they know it is a laptop with a few tablet apps. A desktop OS in tablet form never took off and is now dead as a business model. Get over it.
Why the negative title? Bad vibes
EU and J.D. need to break Apple's digital prison.
That's what the iPad Pro needs.
Fortnite broke the prison open potentially due to the Apple vs epicgames 4 Year situation
BIGGER BATTERY
whatsapp needed in ipads
There is no whatapp for ipad ???
Only 3rd party app.. not from Meta. Thus so unstable
Ayyy Im first!
