      Thanks. I'm no movie maker but I attempted to capture the sights and sounds of the event as if a person was there walking through the staging lanes, standing at the fence, or sitting up in the stands.

      @@TheSteeleGarage anymore film strip videos coming? You said you had one for the '70 SS Chevelles?

    • @TheSteeleGarage
      @TheSteeleGarage  7 місяців тому

      @johncornell3665 I'm pretty sure I do have a dealer training film that introduces the new '70 SS Chevelle. Since I've not converted it to a digital format yet, I'm not sure what it shows. It would have been produced very early (probably before the cars hit the dealers) so I don't think it will mention the LS6. I think I have introduction films for almost every Chevrolet model from '63-'72 and the only ones I've seen/heard are the few that I've uploaded so far. I look forward to getting them all done.

      I am glad you enjoyed it. It is my favorite car event each year and I wanted to put together a few videos to give a taste of what it's like to be there. If a person has a car that fits the rules, I encourage them to try this event. It doesn't matter if your car runs 17.00 or 11.50, there is no pressure and it's a heck of a lot of fun. And if you don't have a car, I recommend coming as a spectator. It's worth the trip. For a couple of days each September a group of like-minded people gather to share a common interest of racing vintage muscle cars. It doesn't matter where your brand loyalty lies, everyone gets along and has fun. It doesn't get much better than this! I'm looking forward to the 2024 event.

    Thank you for your videos. I Love those cars. They're from my era. I had a 1970 Ram Air IV GTO with a Rock Crusher Close Ratio 4-Speed and 3.90 Posi Rear; a 1970 Camaro SS 396 (402) with most of the same; etc. The RA IV GTO and 70 Camaro SS are two cars you will never forget when you own them. Love all the rest of them, so many awesome vehicles. Thanks again, Grandpa.

    The red Torino puttin down low 12's was pretty impressive. The A-12 with a 12.10 was great for a big car. Purpose built. Would Love to have any of these rides.

      The rules allow some limited modifications: www.psmcdr.com/rules
      In years past they was a program where owners could voluntarily tear down their engine to prove they were withing the rules. Many of the fastest cars did prove to be within the allowed rules.

      The 302 Camaro was quicker on earlier runs but developed some mechanical issues later in the day. I failed to capture the earlier runs on video.

      @@robertmceuen3630 I do remember seeing a '67 442 racing at the event many years ago. It was the 2-door post/sedan body (my favorite). It was painted the dark pewter color which I think is called Antique Pewter. It is the darker of the two pewter colors offered in '67. Hopefully it returns or maybe some other '67 442. I really like the '66-'67 442s and I actually prefer the '67 because I like an automatic transmission and the '66 has a 2-speed while the '67s used the 3-speed automatic (big improvement in performance due to the improved 1st gear ratio).

      @TheSteeleGarage Mine was really light yellow with a red pinstripe. 400 Cid with a turbo 400 granny. Was a young, VERY stupid 17 yr old.

    • @TheSteeleGarage
      @TheSteeleGarage  День тому

      @@robertmceuen3630 sounds like it was either Saffron (paint code Y) or Cameo Ivory (paint code T). Either would look fantastic with the red pinstripe. The beauty of the 400 transmission in the '67 442 (and '67 Buick GS400) is that it used a variable pitch (VP) torque convertor. The '67 GTO and Chevelle SS396 used a regular torque convertor. Unfortunately, GM drop the VP convertor entirely in 1968. My '67 GS400 has the VP convertor and it's great. Basically, it has 2 stall speeds depending on the throttle position. A great design and it works very well.

      The rules for this event do allow for some modifications that improve performance. www.psmcdr.com/rules If the cars were required be 100% stock in every way there wouldn't be enough legal cars to have an event. :) It's all for fun with no prizes or awards and on race day they pair the cars based on e.t. to make the racing as close as possible. Thanks for watching.

    IMO....
    Some of these listed gear ratio,horsepower, weight don't add up to the IT'S listed ET's...for instance: 290 hp, auto,3.90 gear,3870 lbs best etc of 11.94?....😮... or....360 hp,auto,3.64 gear,4175lbs best etc of 12.36?...on bias ply tires and original equipment radials?. and there are others. ...especially given modern mustangs and camaros can't run those numbers with more power,less weight and comparable gearing.

      The rules allow so some modifications. You can see the full of rules on their website: www.psmcdr.com/rules

      Some were rated gross hp & others net, in some cases 100+hp difference on paper only. But for sure, some of these are definitely not stock. As in any races, best cheater wins 😀

    • @TheSteeleGarage
      @TheSteeleGarage  Місяць тому +1

      @@randyphillips559 the rules (www.psmcdr.com/rules) allow some modifications that really boost performance. For instance exhaust can be increased to 2-1/2" diameter and H or X-pipes are allowed along with aftermarket mufflers. When I swapped my original/stock 2" exhaust for 2-1/2" with good mufflers my car dropped over 4 tenths from its 1/4 mile e.t. and picked up 4 mph. The rules also allow a higher compression ratio with this rule: "All Engines - 1.5 extra points allowed over advertised. Contact us so we agree on the advertised compression." So a car with an advertised 8.5:1 compression can legally be bumped to a true 10.0:1. So a solid lifter Chevrolet 427 that was rated at 11.0:1 can legally be bumped up to 12.5:1.
      If a person really wants to push to the limits of the rules, it pretty easy to make substantial gains over original hp and 1/4 and still be legal. It's all for fun and there are no prizes or awards. If a person wants to cheat, that's fine because the cars are paired up with another car that has the closest e.t. after the qualifying rounds.
