Not related to fonts, but I always pack logo files for my clients with various sizes/formats for print and web, including JPEGs and PNGs and a small e-mail signature logo. They are organized into folders and labeled accordingly. Most of my clients have no idea what formats to use and this keeps them from calling me every time they need something. ;-) Well worth the extra 15 minutes to do this.
I do send a PDF and ai file but never thought of a white file - great idea! Thanks! I always enjoy your tutes and pointing out my pet peeves! ;-)@@SatoriGraphics
I do this as a photographer as well. Several folders with crops and resolutions suitable for print, web, social platforms, etc. It's a tiny amount of extra work initially but saves so many phone calls and work later.
@@SatoriGraphics We did. Many of those tacky fonts that were around when desktop publishing took off might have been cutting edge at that time, but from a pure design perspective... they all deserve to be mocked and ridiculed. 😁

Wonderful advice! Those of use with good computer graphic capability, but who lack a practical grasp of the art, really appreciate this type of "how to" instruction. Again, thank you for the content and effort.
Satori please correct me if I'm wrong. "Thin font's weigh is better not to use as logotype when combined with logomark or rather align logotype aside logomark." This is my own thought I consider while working. Also, I scored 70 as a beginner designer.
Hey Tom your contents is really helpful.I use to hate illustrator now I can work work easily in it, all because of you thanks a lot.keep up the good work.
You never explained why we should not use one letter for two words. I am not an amateur logo designer and I’ve made a logo with one letter two words, but the difference is the two words are the name of the brand but each in a different language that share one letter (S) which looks like the letter “e” in the other language. So what’t exactly the reason for not using one letter for two words? Thanks in advance.
Satori Graphics I see. Makes lots of sense. Using one letter in that case surely shows no consistency in the name parts, so it’ll be separated in the eye and observed as two different parts. Thanks a lot for the clarification. Keep it up, we love these videos :)
Tom great video this am bro. I like the laid back style and having yourself in the corner - def feels more like having a coffee and chat with you. Love the points. "KISS - keep it simple stupid!" 😎👊
Thank u.. its really helpful.. All the 6 tips are useful n last one is really great..as at times people do use multi colors for their logo and deciding the color for logo type is challenging...
Great video. I have a question though. On the third logo revision is it possible that the font is too thin for the logo? (as explained in the first logotype mistake example?)
Thanks for the reply man ;) Keep it up with the good work ;) i started to finally study more graphic design and your videos are helping me a lot. High five ;)
I love all of your tutorials. Yo You explain concepts so good. You constantly mention "less is more" and I am trying to work on that but it is rather difficult
I've been trying to come up with a logo for my personal freelancing for almost a year now and I'm just struggling because my name is so hard to create. I need a logo that works as an icon and can also be used as watermarks for my photos/videos. Not a fan of cliche photography logos like cameras or red dot recording buttons or cursive with my name. But this does help narrow down what I need to focus on.
do we have to consider the logo and the color we design must be able to adjust in each background color that will be placed? or every logo that we design only or must have a special background color, so it doesn't have to be able to match all background colors?
I really enjoyed this video and I agree with you totally. In the beginning I believe I would overthink the design and to simplify was really hard to do but I got it now and I actually like it better. I'm in the sign business so depending on the sign it can get really graphical. I try to lead my customers towards Simplicity by using the KISS rule. 'Keep It Simple Stupid'
The one about scaling it smaller was a really good point, like when ur reading the tag on clothes u don't normally see the text light u usually see it thicker so the brand can still be visible when seen
Hi Tom, I have got a question about your new membership on the website. When you say "Free vectors for commercial & personal use" what sort of vectors are they? :) And can you still use them if your membership expires? Don't have to go into too much detail, thanks!

Mmm i know less is more, but i really want make a colorful logo for my imaginary game studio with color that represents joy & dream my problem is i just can't make a good looking logo. Is colorful logo too hard for the beginner?

hello satori graphics i am a new designer and a daily follower of your channel. So i want to learn how to make any shape from image for logo without copyright
I think that typography with another purpose than compose the graphics should be avoided in logos at all. If you just put the brand name somewhere with your logo, it doesn't really is part of the design, and if the customer can't recognize the brand looking to graphics, will hardly do it by name. A lot of logos today need to be used on application icons, and subtitles doesn't work anyway. But if the brand name is part of logo (like FedEx), no problem.

We had a font "wall of shame" at a publisher I used to work at. Hobo and Comic Sans were of course displayed prominently! 😂

2:54 Could the font be heavier in the revision side? Seems to me you scale it down and it will not be readable
