Awesome description of the blend of the “Hip Bump”, the knee movement is brilliant. Thanks Andy
Thanks! As always your videos provide me with verification the things I'm working on I'm doing correctly
Andy!! Brilliant video! I learned so much. Can't wait to work on this next time I'm at the range and course.
Another fantastic video. So glad someone has decided to explain the difference between ground forces and lateral movement, but how they’re also simultaneous during the downswing. Thanks!
Perfect !!! Yup if you load the shoulders and unload correctly that happens without thinking.
Every morning that I see a new instructional I set up phone and practice your tips while watching. Thanks Andy!
Excellent video! I swear, whatever I'm currently struggling with, you put out a solid training video on it! Very good explanation & description of the difference between pressure, weight, etc.
Glad it’s helping buddy
This video is double decent! Went to the range this morning after watching this and have never hit a ball like it. Cheers mate!
Love the Vulcano in the background too, good video!
Andy again this is an absolute gem 💎. Thank you so much. With the other tip you gave for the right arm. Absolutely stunning teaching. Thank you for taking the time to do this.
My pleasure
Glad you enjoyed it
Perfectly explained its the only video I need to watch over and over again
Great advice - I tried this at the range on Sunday and I had that feeling of adding pressure through the ground on the back swing and struck it so good - great video 👍
This week's practice sorted
Thanks Andy.👌
Keep the videos coming, Andy. You're the best! Your tips are helping me and my golf mates!
Glad they’re helping Howie 👊🏽
on that downswing the big idea that changed me hugely was pushing the left foot to rotate instead of pulling the right foot. i only realised it ws my weakness in winter when my right foot kept slipping back in the icy snow. but your tip about right knee and ankle will give a go tomorrow !
FRICKIN' BRILLIANT! Your mentor Pete Cowen talked about coiling up on the back swing but the right hip rises with very little pressure. Your system is more compact and tighter, therefore much EASIER to uncoil the trail knee into the lead ankle. That move my friend is amazing, as it clears my lead hip without thinking about any movement.
I can never thank you enough. This move is exactly what I needed.
I have been struggling with this issue for ever.
Great videos...keep up the good work. Job well done!!!!!!!!!
Thanks buddy, glad it’s understandable and helps
Really helpful, clarified a few things for me 🙂
Another great explanation of the golf swing! Lifting up at the top of the golf swing is common problem for many golfers. As you explained, it decreases the tension of the body coil and robs clubhead speed. Many golf instructors tell their students to keep their head still during the swing which is intended to eliminate the head lift. Unfortunately, too many golfers over emphasize this tip and end up with their head behind the lead hip during the follow through swing which causes them to flip the club in order to finish the swing. As you explained, proper weight transfer means the head needs to follow the body through the turn and swing finish. Thanks for sharing!
MY pleasure, thanks for watching and commenting David
Really excellent description Andy, superb video! Thank you
Finding these videos very informative. Keep it up Carter!
Great stuff - excellent explanation of weigh transfer and pressure.
Keep the vlogs coming Andy!
Wonderful. Trail knee to lead ankle. Wow. Thank you. Started 6 months ago could not figure out what to feel or do or how to get the weight transfer. Legend. Thank you.
My pleasure. Glad its helping
Hi Andy brill vid on rotation with irons does this also apply to driver also many thanks
Great content. Should we still have our lead hip higher than our trail hip during set up?
Watched this twice and was unreal and the range and course today! Could end being the new Danny Maude you like, watch this space 🤣
Haha thanks bud 👊🏽
Excellent explanation. Been going this move for a little while and it works. Sometimes I lift up on right side. Non power. Sometimes I don’t get weight forward. Crap. Sometimes I feel like I’ve turned but haven’t. Crap. But getting this sequence works. Great video. Helpful
Glad it helped, keep working hard 👊🏽
Good one! 👍Tanks!
Fantastic video!! Thank you very much!
Great video! Thanks. Would love to hear your thoughts as you pressure the trail knee towards the lead ankle is there a separation going on with the upper body or is the right arm aiding the lower body pressure move? Or does the right knee pressure move happen before the arms reach the transition? Mr Cowens right wrist spin down move has transformed my game but I’m older and still struggle with the pressure shift.
Thanks!
Thank you. 🙏🏽
Great lesson! Taking this advice straight to the range... hold my beer, check this move!
Good teaching
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video
Great video! You bring the weight to 55% on the trail leg at the top of the backswing. Does this mean that shifting pressure to the front foot before reaching the top of the backswing is also a thing of the past in your opinion? Best wishes Lennart
and ......... amazing looking video !!!!
A good push with the lead foot make you turn without thinking of it. Try the force pedal and gain one club with 4/6 mph swingspeed. Awesome and great great turn
Hi Andy can you also pls explain this pressure shift on a uphill lie?
I’ve been doing the spiral staircase drill and it’s helping. But I realized I actually have a slight reverse because I always have back pain after a round. But it seems yiu have to do the drill every day. How long do you recommend doing it?
Another brilliant video Andy! Question for you... I won't try to take this on the course with me this week... I'm playing McDonald Portal on Thursday in a comp (friendly Travel related event) Any tips?! Will take this info to the range later in the week!
Does this work w the driver or do you feel something different?
I had a day with Pete Cowen in 2015… what you are saying is rather contradictory . He was suggesting to wind up to the top (Chinese fighting stick ). How can you put pressure on your feet when your hip, shoulder and arms are going up in the backswing ? By the way, I am 75 and playing around par (1,4 hcp).
Masterclass
Just found your channel. Great content. I struggle with pressure shift on the longer irons and woods. I find that my shots are much better with those clubs when I wait for the pressure shift at the top but for the shorter clubs, it happens automatically. What’s going on? Do you coach online?
Welcome to the channel. yes I predominately coach online. I use the Skillest coaching app, you can search my name and drop me a DM there. here is the link for easier use

I have been working on this and am now getting older. I am getting knee pain on the inside of my trail knee. Is there a way to rotate without that leg tilt
Make sure you can make a move that is pain-free. Never force a movement
Looking at pros they shift pressure into the lead side before finishing their backswing. Is that needed or can you do a full backswing and then shift?
99% of amateurs will shift once the backswing is completed - i do too!
@andycartergolf so you shift and turn while your arms coming down? I find it much easier to start shifting earlier so I'm on my lead side when I reach the top. Then I can sink and push away with my lead leg.
Excellent instruction ! Pete's swing is the way to go !!! Happy 4th of July too !!
Latest lightbulb! bigger stronger slower muscles ie torso/L.body work Against gravity using the ground ie up then throw forward and Up
Smaller weaker faster muscles ie hands arms rot cuff work With gravity ie throw down
I am definitely guilty of the ‘standing up’ part. How does this video correlate to all the data available now on pressure shift happening early in the backswing (getting it back to the front foot early)?
now i know how clouds are made, thx
Glad i could help, thx
So the weight transfer happens at the beginning of the downswing? I though we transferred weight in conjunction with the strike of the ball (i.e., transfer of weight corresponds with release of hands). This could be a game changer.
No no Richard, weight shift occurs at the transition
Every biomechical evaluation of the modern swing says at the top of the backswing your right hip at the top of the backswing is higher than the left - not our Andy - FFS people are relying on this and believing it
Find me the bit where I said it shouldnt be higher?
thank you, a small advice if you want more views .... make the videos shorter. We get the felling that you are saying the same thing over and over and the video gets to long and you lose us
Great vlog very informative but you never mentioned what you do with your hands 🏌️♂️
