I've been trying to fly fish for carp recently but I have not had any luck. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong at this point. You make it look easy 😂
Well, you're holding an awesome bass in your profile picture! I often have the most success fishing carp similar to finesse fishing bass (just with flies instead of soft plastics)... Twitches and movements of the fly, sometimes subtle, sometimes more aggressive, really can induce strikes from carp! 🙂✌️🎣

@@BrandonTFishing subsurface flies for Koi and common carp (wooly buggers and small streamer patterns work pretty well for me), and dry flies for grass carp (foam cicadas and ants have been doing work this year). I have a few grass carp on dry fly videos on my channel... It's a blast! 🙂✌️🎣

I recently ordered fluorocarbon leaders and tipper designed for carp. I have a 6 and 7 WT rod. I’m not sure what flies to use to get a carp to bite. Any advice?
Hi, thanks for watching and leaving a question. If you are fishing for grass carp, which often feed on the surface, then foam (dry fly) cicadas, beetles, and ants do really well. For Koi and common carp, which generally feed on and around the bottom, wooly buggers do really well. I've also caught them with weighted San Juan worms, small streamers (you can get aggression bites from carp by casting near them and moving a streamer aggressively by them), and egg patterns (bottom feeding carp are often digging around for fish eggs). Honestly, with all carp, I usually find it less important to pick the right fly, and more important to practice and learn how to entice (or annoy them) into biting, no matter the fly. 🙂✌️🎣

Normally I do, sorry about that. That said, the olive green color wooly bugger in the set I listed in the description of the video (I put the link to them) is what I was using. You can also see the fly in the mouth of the 2nd carp I caught, though not super clearly haha. 🙂✌️🎣
What size hook?
Size 8-10 is my general go-to for designated carp flies; that said, I catch them often on flies as big as designed for bass, and as small as designed for trout. 🙂✌️🎣
