I Thought Elias in Platoon was his best, and his cameo in Born on the fourth of July was very realistic the scene when he freaks out i the taxi and him and Ron Kovic start fighting, he was also good in Mississippi burning , he's one of my favorite actors ,he must have been the only actor to have played in so many Vietnam films.

Dafoe is certainly one of the strangest actors ever, but he is also a Great Performer with a face that probably Everybody on earth would recognize, but his name? probably Not so much.
I love Willems work. He is truly unique. His face is truly made for character heavy laden roles and he doesn't disappoint. That is why I find it so strange that in my opinion his best role, or at least my favorite is his role in Platoon. This is one of the few times he plays the good guy of sorts. I loved the movie. His death scene is perhaps one of the most heartbreaking scenes of any movie I ever saw.
His performance in 'Wild At Heart' brought me to acting, and a year later I was at Salford Uni studying Drama. Dafoe is the kind of one-off visceral screen presence who comes along once in a generation if you're lucky; ranks alongside the screen greats, Chaney, Barrymore, Scofield, Hurt imo i.e.bring your 'A game' p,s, RIP Michael K Williams. I him sexy and a great, stellar, legend of the an actor. How versatile an actor, rarely, can u find actors that can act well, and do it all. His day will come was when he will be handed & offered a leading role part that will get not one but two Academy Awards, [i.e., The Oscars]. He was capable of presenting Nicolas Kazantzakis' "dual nature" of man -- sometimes so consumed with NOT becoming the messiah that he gladly accepted a deceptive angel's announcement (while writhing in agony upon the cross) that he had suffered enough and now it was time for him to live the life of a normal man. At other times Dafoe could stare Satan (in the guise of a lion) in the eyes and tell him to step closer so he could pull his tongue out. Dafoe possesses this ability to turn on a dime, which is probably what got Martin Scorsese's notice.
Honestly, half an hour to put on the Green Goblin costume is pretty fast. There's so many full-body costumes in film that take hours to get into, including makeup.
